The mother ships needs supporting.
Without the mother ship and $millions being spent on crypto infrastructure, we are a bunch of nutters on the internet.

I'm just building a BTC full node and SPR full node on the same VPS using the same IP. Just for shits and giggles.

Hello Fellow SpreadSters Long time no talk!! I still have a stash of Spread I've been holding onto for a rainy day How goes the battle? I'm guessing that Mr. Spread never returned and that the community took over this coin which is cool in my opinion Also are you guys still working on masternodes for this coin? I was wondering when we'd see your face around here. To cut a long story short, georgem has been doing a lot of work in the background since Mr Spread's disappearance (no real sign of him yet) and the coin lives on. They aren't masternode's any more...they're called service nodes because the idea as it stands is for them to provide decentralised P2P applications and services. One of the many ideas that has been discussed is the concept of a Spreadcoin service node incentivising somebody for running a full bitcoin node to secure their network. Exciting times. Testing will be starting again in a few weeks, it'd be great to have your help! Well I'm here and to be honest I was wondering why SpreadCoin wasn't showing up in my unread threads anymore but then I seen this bumped to the top and realized it was a new thread I hadn't posted in which is why I haven't been around lately But ya I'm a Spreader for life folks because Mr. Spread had a wonderful idea with this coin and to be completely honest it's one of the first coins I actually made a really nice mint off of so I couldn't sell my whole stash it just didn't feel right But great to see everyone is still here and that everyone is still working hard at making this coin a success If there is anything that I can do to help out just let me know guys and I'll do my best Cheers gjhiggins and myfarm are still around I forgot to say, Chaositec and a few others doing an update to latest Bitcoin Core at the moment. Progress is, well, progressing again but with some new awesome ideas to build on what Mr Spread left behind!

Q- Will the end of this month still bring servicenode testing? If so, should we open a thread on spreadcointalk.org with basic direction on how to join testing? Eg, How to boot spreadcoin(testnet) and safely separate 'testnet' files and 'mainnet' files. A guide on how to configure a testnet .conf. We're going to need as many people as possible testing, and a guide on how to do the most basic things needed to help with testing should come in handy. I could open the thread but am not the most clued up on spreadcoin testnet Bump I will release a new qt wallet with new features later this week. After that I will need 2 weeks to prepare the first testnet servicenodes version. (so we are still +- 1 week within schedule) I will make the testnet version completely separated from mainnet spreadcoin. (as if it were a new different coin, and not testnet of main.) So there is no danger that you can mess up mainnet and testnet files. You will even be able to run mainnet and testnet side by side. I appreciate the help you are offering, but I don't think we will need it ATM, because my goal is already to make the testing sessions very easy and accesible. You know where we are if you need anything boss

IMHO the main problem is people wanting to make a quick buck, not coin developers making false statements
Sometimes you get both working together.

I love this bad node identification technique. I also love the fixed price of entry for staking

Sometimes its the chicken and egg problem, because if some people do not see up front results, they dismiss it and move on, while results tend to take time to manifest themselves.
right now we need to get the basic systems up and running, we cannot show something which is not finished.
so basically the overall gameplan is more or less, get servicenodes up and running, get moved over to core sourcecode.
servicesnodes are going to be the infrastructure needed for anything we want to do,
and core is going to help making things more modular and secure at the same time.
combined, we would end up with at good foundation to grow on.
i get back home tuesday, and that means more time i can dedicate to moving spreadcoin over to core, while georgem works on getting servicenode up and running..
when both these tasks have been completed, we will merge those 2, and then can we start having some decend stuff build on top and move faster ahead...
Exactly and while you chaps work hard on delivering a platform we can build on, the rest of us can work on the next steps

Great post. EDIT: I look forward to announcing "Service TBA" as and when we are in the position to do so

I was interested, but the project has no direction and no plans. By the time they figure out what they are doing other coins will be light years ahead of it.
This is what some people think about Spreadcoin. Is this a valid comment? well, considering there is clear direction (semblance of an organized management structure with georgem spearheading the campaign and other members providing development assistance) and plans for servicenode implementation, no I do not think this is a valid criticism Maybe we're missing something here. Where does it mention in the ANN about service nodes and decentralized app/service provision? It should include some use cases as examples imo. EDIT: The work I'm doing around communication and engagement can be published when its ready. As can the news from my other workstreams as and when we get some. I think we're falling into the trap of being so busy that we have a clear view in our minds but not doing enough to tell people about it. If ok with people I'll start looking at where the gaps are this weekend.

Is this a valid comment? well, considering there is clear direction (semblance of an organized management structure with georgem spearheading the campaign and other members providing development assistance) and plans for servicenode implementation, no I do not think this is a valid criticism "they" do not want help/assistance. There are 1-2 good and competent members in the team, but the rest is pretty "stall" and illusionary... For example they added my SPR pool as node, but still reject changing the topic from "No pools" to "with pools" or at least remove that no pools statement etc.. If you want to get a coin / project going - its 90% about team-work if its open source... Hey OC, As we discussed before I personally support you in the fact the wording around pools needs to be changed. The thing is that Georgem and team are going through an intense phase of preparation work in order to fully understand and prepare the code that Mr Spread left behind for the future and me discussing this with georgem has been lost in the list of things to do. There is a huge amount going on with SPR at the moment and a lot of teamwork and collaboration going on behind the scenes. In some ways it might have been better to wait a few weeks before starting a new ANN thread but then again brilliant discussions about the future of SPR were happening on a thread that we had no control over. I also agree that the plan for SPR is vague right now however once the devs are ready, a plan and updated first post will happen combined with a proper community newsletter. To say that we dont want help and assistance is a little disingenuous although I also understand your concern has seemingly been dismissed. I can assure you that I've not forgotten to push your point forwards. Finally, from my perspective in a business development role I am unable to contribute to any announcements or roadmaps because all of my discussions are commercially sensitive until agreed by all parties. I'm going to dual boot my PC with Linux when I have some time to do it. Should make things a little easier...

Lol, I just tried to teach myself how to compile the windows QT and rushed it a bit. I'm making myself a gin!
I found building on linux to be the easiest, building on mac just a little bit more difficult, but building on windows by far the most inconvenient. But don't give up, you'll be making yourself a lot of gins until you figure it out eventually. I'm determined to learn. Believe it or not I used to work as a programmer right at the beginning of my IT career. I was pretty awful at it and I trained in Java so it was relatively easy to compile. Great days though...decent language, brilliantly portable but not there was not the hardware to support decent performance. Slow as anything back then.

I'm running it on a T2.small with enough storage to hold a bitcoin blockchain too.
I think I might try one on a T2.micro for a month or two with minimum disk space and see how it does to get an idea of cheapest possible AWS prices.

I have just found my wallet.dat from the last round of testing. Think there should be a fair few nSPR in there.
A windows binary would be great if possible.
Can we try to avoid GPU mining on testnet? Would be great if the difficulty stayed fairly low...

Thanks Graham. Looking forward to getting some pre-testing done

[rant] Look, you lot. I kept getting loads of PMs from March asking me not to bid on SPR so they could accumulate (you know who you are). Now, I need 5k for a bounty, you keep upping the bloody prices on the exchange. Stop it. 5k order is at 10001. Let some namby pamby trader dump into it please. It's already cost me 30% more than a week ago. [/rant] Have a bunch of people jumped 1 satoshi ahead of you? You really shouldn't have posted that
