SpreadCoin was fairly launched on 29 July 2014, 9:00 UTC with no premine.
Wow > 14 months - this looks like it could be another long-term survivor.

What are the reasons for the current price movement?

Thanks!

Just my humble opinion but the project is starting to gain some proper momentum and we're starting to get better at structuring our work.  Coins101 has been doing some sterling work around PR and people are starting to notice what the potential of a decentralised service network could be.

Looking at the activity on Bittrex closely I think one person is trying to build a bag of Spreadcoins but not many people are willing to sell hence the periodically rising price.  Just a guess though.

Anybody got any better theories?

The order book is looking pretty thin on the sell side.  Nice to see  Smiley

Congratulations, mstang83!

Please contact stonehedge to receive the prize of 1000 SPR!

extend PoBN to other blockchains in order to cross-mine data.

Fascinating idea, I'm currently researching the challenges posed by contracts secured by the blockchain.

Some companies are researching creating their "own" blockchain to secure the contracts/transactions/voting but guess what: it needs to be backed by hash power to prevent 51% takeover. Now there's a service to the business world: SPR SN provides secure chains for whichever currency floats your boat. Security on demand?

Perhaps no need to wait till 2017/18  Cool

Everyone keeps talking about the hash rate of the network, and how relevant it is to keep the network secure, but it is often omitted that the total number of full nodes is just as important to keep it safe. So better get a full node. Think of it as your "civic duty", like going to vote in the elections.

Its a good point.  Sadly its not easy to convince everybody to be a good citizen and support the system by paying their taxes.

Discovered what may be a typo in the WP. On page 46, second to last paragraph - "With Bitcoin nodes approach 10,000, these node numbers would yield more valuable...pockets of regional financial activities."

I'm assuming an "ing" was missing after approach.  Grin

Gah...no matter how many times you proof read a document, something always slips through  Undecided

Cheers!

You're fucking joking?  Coins101?

I reckon you two conspired and agreed to share the prize.  Grin

100 pages since the new ANN thread started!

Guess the weight of Georgem's hamster (in grams).  Closest guess posted by 1700 GMT on Tuesday 13th wins 1000 SPR.

Rules: If there is a tie, the prize will be split.  Georgem can't enter.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: October 07, 2015, 07:15:15 AM

Its not a new initiative but it looks like it is being expanded slightly.  Under the old scheme only a few qualifying nodes were selected randomly to receive a payment which at the time was possibly less than the cost of running a node at the time.    Coins101 referenced the scheme in our Whitepaper as an example of an attempt to incentivise full bitcoin nodes.

Its quite encouraging to see that the desire to do so is still there.

Now, if only somebody could come up with a sustainable and decentralised way to do it  Wink

Q. Should there be a limit on the number of servicenodes, with a queue system to replace service nodes that do not perform to standard and more importantly do not improve after seeing delisting notices which would be generated by the network.

So, the point is this: with some notice period, we can have a cutoff period and those with service nodes ready to go by xyz date would have a right to form a service node automatically. This rewards those who have been paying attention and supporting SPR during this incubation and development period.

Anyone who wants to run a servicenode after the cutoff date would have to buy a spot from existing service node holders - an auction system similar to how people buy and sell businesses. And that is partly the point. We are building for profit services and service nodes are intended to be decentralised business units.

Profiteering for early holders? Well, no shit batman. Yes. The project has been live now for long enough not to be a secret.

What should the ideal number of servicenodes be? 1,000; 3,000; 5,000; 10,000?

Well, how about head of population per region on xyz date? Its a bit complicated, but a regional allocation lends itself to regional pricing of servicenodes and also franchising of nodes per jurisdiction. Oh, yes. I forgot to say, there is no reason why the network's holders at xyz date can't issue franchises after the cutoff date has passed.

So this solves the issue on how many SPR per servicenode. That would be determined when the cutoff date is reached and the community makes a decision on how many service nodes should be in the network.

This makes more sense to me than the Dash approach and the original approach by Mr. Spread; and I commend the idea to the community for discussion.

I need someone to second the idea, please.

Georgem what do you think about this ^
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: October 05, 2015, 11:31:39 AM
In a nutshell, any cap on servicenode count whether it be static or dynamic (your proposal or Mr Spread's) is an immediate turn off for me because if the servicenode network is to be providing decentralized services, then surely the more servicenodes the better?  Anything kind of cap theoretically could compromise quality of service.

This is the reason why I have always preferred the Dash approach...no limit, leave it to the market to decide.

Whats happening with the Windows AMD miners?

I guess I'll have to stop some other apps and boot to Linux, unless there is anything out there.....

The windows AMD miner is on the downloads page on spreadcoin.info

My bad.

I remember some heated discussions about optimized AMD miners, which I thought was related to windows AMD miners. But if that's a load of nonsense then I'll get on with it...

Cheers!

the optimized miners are no nonsense coins101 ..

though i am pretty sure they are ccminer based only ( ccminer-spmod to be exact ) - as im unaware whether there is the amd optimized ones ...

sp is selling the miner - and im amazed he hasnt advertized here for it ...

#crysx

Sure, I don't like the performance of the official AMD miner.  I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount for it.
1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: October 02, 2015, 09:15:31 AM
Hey!

I have a few worlds to say about the wallet(Win7). It is great but I would like it even more if it would be shrinkable to a smaller layout. Especially the width.
An additional line showing average on the hashrate/diff charts would be nice.
The wallet prevents minning for some time when transferring coins from the wallet to another address(bittrex). It is not a big problem because I transfer coins rarely(unluckily Tongue) and it lasts for something like 1 minute(maybe less). I don't remember it happening with the old wallet but I'm not 100% sure about that. It could be a normal (expected) behavior waiting a new block to be found...

Those are just my (noobish)personal thoughts and don't want beeing counterproductive in any way.
Keep up the good work!

That's a great idea, making it shrink to different sizes (widget mode) like a mp3 player or something...

Thanks for your feedback, I will consider it for the next newwallet update.

PS, never heard about the bug you describe... can someone confirm this? or can you make a video showing it in action, dominuspro?

I'll try and recreate it too.

Spreadcoin Project Update 5

25/09/2015

An Apology

Sorry for the update delay.  Beer happened.

Development Update

The dev team spent last week working on the following items:

- Finalising and releasing the new wallets.  Thank you to everybody who helped test!
- Working on the web site to incorporate a news and blog section.
- Working on a DNS seeder for the official block explorer.
- Scrutinising the previous planned hard forks in an attempt to understand why they worked but in a slightly unexpected fashion.

Blockchain 2020

As you may be aware, we are running a conference in London on the day of the next Bitcoin block reward halving. During the conference, there will be a live Broadcast of the popular Mad Bitcoins show, with special interviews planned.

I am impressed by the maturity here and the spirit within this communauty : price has declined somewhat during the latter months but this communauty has still a rather positive and constructive attitude (in constrast of a lot of coins in similar situations).
The team who has taken over has done a good job.
Now, I am keeping most of the coins I mined...

Thanks for the kind words.

We're really confident that we've got something that is going to make big waves.  We just have to be careful to keep the momentum going.  Price will rise as we reach our more glamorous milestones.

Ok, I understood ! I have downloaded the new wallet and the facelift is really nice  Wink ! Good work !

Don't forget to check out the in-wallet vanity address generator.

 Smiley

Don't forget to allocate 30% of the coinbase to the satoshinakamoto1 competition, in BTC  Grin

We shall see about that competition.... by the time it's ready you will not crave for BTC anymore, my friend.  Wink

Hey, that's pretty cool. In addition to being lead dev, you're a brand marketing genius.

But craving BTC is what we do: PoBN  Wink

PoBN is the golden egg but having a distributed services network is going to open a LOT of doors.

Just about recovering from my hard drive failing. Didn't lose any data, but have a lot of specialist Enterprise software that needed to be reinstalled and re-licensed.

Whitepaper PR is due to be issued this week. Let's see who picks it up.  Cool

I'll give it a read  Wink

BTW, I am working on a block-explorer visualization tool
that helps me (and everyone interested) to look thru all the hex-code-jungle and get a better grasp of all the information within the blockchain.
That's what it looks like at the moment:

This is block 43000, right before the second HardFork happened, back in sep 11th 2014:

And this is the next block 43001 with 2 new fields introduced for solo-mining enforcement: hashWholeBlock and MiningSignature:

I still need to decipher all transactions and their inputs/hashes and script codes...

If the 2nd hard fork was for solo-mining enforcement, what was the first hardfork for?  Block reward change?
