1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 08, 2016, 04:35:03 PM
So people bought something useless, great even better. 80k looks like an expensive figure now, thanks for the clarification that people won't even need Factoids to make entries, so Factoids are completely worthless

..... "proof-of-no-clue". ;-)

Please explain how it would be possible to make entries (buying EC's) without Factoids.

It's interesting to see that people can talk all day long about prices without even trying to understand the project.

Looks nice.
So, the payment using an altcoin, it's also can be exchange to cash, the pair fiat is just dollar only? Also can exchange to bitcoin too? since your wallet basically like exchange wallet?
The taxes, it's mandatory to pay based on the winner country? so, this already have some regulation, isn't?

Yes, it's not just a wallet. It's more a "multi-currency-wallet-exchange-App" and it's possible to exchange one currency for the other (no matter if Crypto or Fiat). Lykke will be a very complete Forex-trading-platform with a lot of Fiat-currencies, Cryptocurrencies and all kinds of digital assets (like company shares for example).

Currently on the APP:

- BTC
- LKK
- EUR
- CHF
- GBP
- JPY
- USD

Soon: Solarcoin and Ethereum... others to follow.

David Siegel has made some very good videos about the App: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLk9DrzhaS5AjlYColQnvU6R17MNNNhihK

Regulations are an ongoing process:

I'm also not informed about everything what's currently going on behind the curtain, but I know that there is "high activity", and most likely there will be some announcements in the near future.

and where is the link / the connection to/with lykke? i found not find anything and i have to admit that i did not read the hole ANN topic. just search on linked websites for the word lykke.

There is not that much to find until now I believe, but for example:

SolarCoin and Lykke Swiss exchange
https://solarcoin.org/en/solarcoin-and-lykke-swiss-exchange/

And there is also some talking about it on their thread, and Nick Gogerty from Solarcoin is on the Lykke-Slack etc.

Or here: https://github.com/LykkeCity/SolarCoinApi

Once it's finished there will be announcements from Lykke and Solarcoin without doubt.
1426  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Collaboration Platform: Lykke Streams on: December 07, 2016, 06:10:27 PM
Pretty Good. What's your business model? If I open a new contest or I'm a winner for a particular posted contest, how much is your share of the total winnings ?Although platforms as such are not a new thing but your service fees does actually make you stand out.People choose to use forums for contests and stuff since there is no middle party involved, meaning no extra spending.

It's usable for free for potentially everybody. Since Lykke is a (semi-decentralized) exchange it's required to run contests on Lykke and awards will also be in LKK (Lykke-Coins/Shares).

But Lykke charges no fees at all, also no trading-fees. By the way: Lykke is already a result of a contest (article from Dec 2015):

"To find the talents who will develop the Lykke platform, Olsen is hosting a global competition for the design of the architecture of the marketplace.

The Lykke Challenge is an open source code competition to build the fastest foreign exchange matching engine and settlement platform using the blockchain."

http://fintechnews.ch/blockchain_bitcoin/swiss-startup-lykke-seeks-disrupt-retail-trading-market-blockchain-tech/2060/

Business-model is (will be once it gets traction): Lykke will act as marketmaker.

Who wants to know more, this Q&A with Richard Olsen is very insightful:

Yes, Solarcoin will launch this week. I'm not sure when daily trading volume will be added, but I'll ask.
1429  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Collaboration Platform: Lykke Streams on: December 07, 2016, 05:01:20 PM
Collaboration platform or Contest platform? Why will you have a contest against people you're collaborating with..

It's both: A contest between those who participate and send in their proposals (Designer for example or Developer for the Atomic crosschain swap transactions etc.), but it's also about collaboration - for example:

"We will work with award winners to support their efforts through each phase. This could eventually lead to full-time employment or a franchise/profit-sharing model and can be taken to other cities."
https://streams.lykke.com/Project/ProjectDetails/0cd7a902927b4d2c96b0ac3e0928cf29

Or in general:

"If you have an idea for a project you think would be beneficial to Lykke, you can create it as an initiative. Registered members may then vote for a project. If a proposal gets enough votes and seems beneficial to the Lykke community, Lykke will sponsor it and provide award money."
https://streams.lykke.com/Home/Terms

It's also not only for Lykke. Everybody can use the platform to run contests to find skilled people for all kinds of projects.

LKK is now on Coinmarketcap: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/lykke/

Why does the site say the available supply is 30 million?
De total supply is  1.285.690.000 and it is available. The shareholder of Lykke did get their coins i assume. So if they have it they can trade it. It doesnt matter that the company only sold/traded a small part of it in the so called ICO.

So the company is worth around 55 million Euro.

Yes, right. Technically it is available, practically it's most likely not. But they are in talking with coinmarketcap.
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 06, 2016, 03:47:40 PM
At least with a lower FCT price the burning process goes faster as the EC price stays the same.

1. Is there anyone who knows where you can check the amount of burned FCT's?

2. Also, Is there anyone who can explain exactly what m2 is all about and why he or she thinks this influences the price in a sustainable way (meaning: not a day or two a pump based on the news and then sell off again)

3. Furthermore: do we know how large the Gates grant actually was?

Bringing this up again. If anyone has some answers to these questions, happy to hear them.

1. Initial supply was 8,759,968.58633800 FCTs. Coinmarketcap.com states that the current supply is 8,753,219 FCTs.

(...)

Coinmarketcap is known to lack when it's about total supply. I hope this is correct:

You guys are crazy. I wish we could get an official answer as to what's going on in the Factom market, it just doesn't make sense but my short is insane lucky lol.

What would be an "official answer"?
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 05, 2016, 09:45:19 PM
we are waiting for m2 for almost 2 years now still not released so m3 could take 2 years /3 years would be better (it fits the name) by then we might have only 1mil factoids left probably much less price would be 400$ end of 2018

Not for 2 years! ICO was in spring 2015, launch was in early October 2015, first time Paul Snow explained more about M2 was in December if I'm correct.

And my guess is: M2 is most likely the hardest Milestone to do and that once it is released, we will see M3 some months later - 3 to 6 maybe.
1436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 05, 2016, 12:04:33 AM
How can ETH not being worth an investment but other things relying on it. If ETH fails, the other projects will get a big punch down as well. They may recover somewhere else, but very unlikely...

Factom can anchor in all Blockchains they want to. With Lykke it's the same. Bot projects are built on top of Bitcoin and use it as Number 1, but both are flexible/not dependent on a certain blockchain.

What you say is most likely true for all the smart-contract-projects, like Augur etc. That's a reason why I don't buy into any of these ETH-related ICO's.

As I said, it will get a punch down for sure. I don't like the idea to say that this will work out and that will not.
Crypto is a ecosystem that depends on each other. If a big players reputation goes down too much it will very likely also damage reputation of the whole crypto market. We saw so many coins come and go already. If no other coin than bitcoin can stay on top 10, the whole altcoin market will become nonserious at some point.
James is here right: The enemy is fiat, not each other...
But we also should work together on one thing at some point instead of creating more and more things that are the same anyway...

I absolutely agree that it's not about enemies and I wish ETH success. But I personally don't invest in it any time soon and I disagree that it would hurt my investments if ETH should fail. Factom and Lykke are not dependent on it. If it all goes well with ETH it's good, if not it's not a problem.

If there would be major problems with Bitcoin - that would could be a problem, even if both are technically flexible.

Edit: Since I didn't have the last few lines... No worries, I don't want your ETH. ;-)

For sure. those kind of subline fud I love the most.

You edited your post. First there only was one line, and then you added more said "But I tell you what: Forget it! You don't get a single coin from me!" - so I just let you know that I don't want your coins.

Btw, if you look into my post-history you can find out that my opinion about Ethereum never has changed. I believe it's a very innovative project  and that it has a lot of value. But as an Investor I always stayed back because in my opinion it's over-compex and I don't believe in complexity.

Quote from over a year ago in the Factom-thread:

(....) My impression about ETH is, that it's a hype. I don't mean that in negative way because it's a great idea with big potential, but it'll need some time and in my eyes and for now it's overpriced. They have a huge inflation and there may be a lot of risks on it's way because of it's technical complexity. But: It's very known. Everybody in the "Crypto-world" knows ETH and the volume is incredible. (...)

That's still my opinion and when you look at "there may be a lot of risks on it's way because of it's technical complexity" - turned out to be true, right?

Yea, I saw that. Deleted it before already. Sorry.

No sorry needed! I just wanted to make clear that opinion is not necessarily FUD/intention to write the price down.

I'm just watching it, since ETH is an interesting project. But it's not in my top-5-want-to-buy-projects.

To add that: My main investments are Factom and Lykke and both seem to believe in ETH:

Factom Will Use Both The Bitcoin and Ethereum Blockchain

Lykke is Integrating Ethereum
https://lykke.com/city/blog/2016-09-30/lykke_integrates_ethereum

Lykke even gives a bounty (first price $1000) for good proposals:

What are the reasons for this dump, if any?

1) Bitcoin is strong and it doesn't seem as if it wants to go down anytime soon

2) If I would be invested in ETH I would also lose trust after all the drama since May (DAO)

3) the people who dumped their ETH on top try to buy them back cheep, that's why they staged a lot of things about the fork topic...
and let it shine bad, sooo bad, omg so bad, it has to be sooo bad, that we can buy the coins back cheeper.
But I tell you what: Forget it! You don't get a single coin from me!

There was a double top (first high in March, second one in May) and since Sept. 20 the price is heading down. That has much to do with the strong BTC-price of course, but it also shows decreasing trust and increasing concerns in general. I doubt that the price-development has much to do with those who sold high. Thing is: It's still not cheap!

What I believe could happen, and that is what I believe is visible in the chart: At a certain point in time there will be competitors in the "smart-contract-business". In some years it's possible that we'll look back on ETH as a important sandbox, like a "computer-science-lab", but I doubt that it will be ETH that will make it into the business-world. And if that should turn out to be true - it's still overvalued.

But.. only my personal opinion. Could be wrong of course.
