When compiling cgminer on Xubuntu 11.04 a file is missing. I followed the tutorial on the github page and git cloned cgminer. Now I need to build from source but a file is missing. What did I forget? ubuntu@ubuntu:~/cgminer$ ./autogen.sh ./autogen.sh: 8: aclocal: not found
Maybe I should use the precompiled binnary? But I did not figure out to use it... Any help is appreciated.

I took the time to look at the compatilibilty page before buying the mobo. You can add this model to the not compatible list: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
Next time I will try to buy one from the compatibility list.
I have the exact same problem with the same board. I tried various USB drives, bios versions, none of them worked. I tried the regular ubuntu image, it did work. Like I assume you found, after some google searching I found references to gigabyte boards not working with certain bootable USB file setups and with multiple partitions. I got an RMA for my board today and packaged it up to be returned... We followed the same path but I will use Ubuntu or Debian for this board. I got owned by NCIX because this product can only be exchanged for the same...

Is it possible to offer an .iso version? I have a problem with my motherboard that I explain here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76294.0I can install and boot any Linux image via UnetBootin. I can use LinuxCoin but I would prefer to use BAMT. The problem with DiskImager is that the MBR get erased and UnetBootin does not remove it. I will send you my first 6 mined BTC if you can provide me with an iso version that install via Unetbootin. Thank's! BAMT cannot run from an ISO, sorry. I took the time to look at the compatilibilty page before buying the mobo. You can add this model to the not compatible list: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 Next time I will try to buy one from the compatibility list. It does work. Update to the latest BIOS, use the failsafe defaults for the board and disable the USB 3.0 ports. Do you use the same motherboard rev 1.1? Because I have latest bios: F5. I also disabled USB 3.0 and it doesn't work. The BIOS dont see the flash drive. It dont even see a normal FAT32 partition unless it is formated with HP USB storage format utility. I can install LinuxCoin with Unetbootin after the drive is formated with HP utility.

I found the problem is because my BIOS is very strict about MBR compatibility. Now I can boot in DOS mode. The flash drive need to be formated as a Win98 Startup disk using HP USB disk storage format tools. Unetbootin menu is booting from USB but won't install BAMT. If I use Windows or Linux diskimager it is deleting the good MBR. I tried converting BAMT .img to .iso and it is not booting with Unetbootin. Is it possible to boot BAMT from a Win98 DOS command prompt? Maybe there is a way to burn the image and keep the working MBR? If the working MBR is deleted, the flash drive is not recognized at all by the BIOS. Here are some info if someone happen to buy the same nightmare: GB's BIOS will only boot USBs formatted to FAT-32, conforming to normal MBR bootloader. I've seen this before, and surmised that the 'stick-maker' was formatting in ReiserFile, or one of the EXT 'flavors', but no one ever followed up to confirm or deny... Also, if it's putting the bootloader into its own partition - won't work!
In the BIOS, on the "Integrated Peripherals" page, the "USB Storage Function" item must be enabled (which should be the default) to allow USB booting...
I've put a little work into a 'GB USB booting tutorial', and frankly, I'd just go ahead and finish it up for you, but I really don't want to reboot the several times it will take me to 'firm up' procedural details, and take the BIOS/boot pictures for the post - just noticed VAIL finally went 'public beta', so will be downloading for likely twenty-six hours or so There's likely enough there to test a 'raw DOS boot', just to see if your hardware (especially the USB stick itself) will do it... http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/274441-30-tutorial-making-bootable-flash-driveFixed. Here is a brief summary. Since my ubuntu live usb sticks (2gb kingston and 8gb sandisk sd/usb reader - fat32, created in ubuntu 10.04) would not boot this board even though they would boot my ga-ep45-ud3p, I decided to try bilbat's suggestion with the HP usb boot program. I created the win98 boot disk on the kingston 2gb stick without reformatting. It booted right up. Next, I used windows version of unetbootin to write the ubuntu live cd to the kingston disk. This fired right up and completed the install. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/274723-30-880gma-ud2h-fails-boot

I just bought a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=62402&vpn=GA-970A-UD3&manufacture=Gigabyte&promoid=1360BAMT won't boot. I tried other OS image and it keep getting boot error. The USB pen drive is booting fine on my ASUS board. USB pen drive LED is on so power is getting there. USB keyboard is working fine too... I tried about all possible bios configuration possible. Board is rev 1.1 with F4 bios. CPU is AMD Athlon II X3. Anyone on this forum that bought the same board?

I don't quite see why running 100% would be better than autofan setting 100% gets the bearings hotter -> oil evaporates at high temps -> bearing damaged -> fan fails / rattles Autofan can only prolong life of fans I think ... Maybe it's like a car. It is harder for mechanic if you live in a city when driving at irregular speed compared to rural area where you spend more time on the highway.

I'll do you one better; a loan and/or a hardware sale.
I'll sell you the PCI-e extenders (no molex, you don't need them unless you are going with dual GPU cards) on a loan if you can't pay up front.
I've got 2 16x to 16x extenders and 3 1x to 1x (work fine with 16x cards)
All 5 cables shipped to the USA for 7BTC today, or 8BTC in two weeks.
Ok give me 24h to trade some LTC and I will buy your cable.
|
|
|
I did lot of research and asking and I was under the impression that I need Mollex cable because I plan to eventually try connecting 7 GPU.
|
|
|
You are paying way too much for those cables. I bought two 1x-16x cables, and got them for a lot cheaper. 30 BTC for 5 cables is retarded!
Bought one on Ebay from Hongkong for a few bucks. It took 4-6 weeks to show up though
And paid 1.25 BTC (shipping already included, firstclass) for the other cable from a user on EMC's forum.
There is almost 7BTC in shipping because I took express shipping. These are Mollex cable. Cheaper cable are available at ~50% the price but I want the best quality. I don't think waiting 4-6 weeks to save a couple buck is a great idea because the card are idle during that time.

Hi! Today I received most of the hardware I needed to build my first rig. I need 35BTC to finish building my setup. I need those Bitcoins to pay for those PCI-E extender: I need the extra Bitcoins to pay for a VPS to host my P2Pool node. This is what I got so far: -AMD Athlon II X3 -Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 -XFX PRO1250W 80PLUS Gold PSU -4GB Kingston ValueRAM GPU: 5830 X2 5850 5870 5770 TERMS: - I, 01BTC10 is asking for a loans of 35BTC. - 38.5BTC will be mined back to lender BTC address starting the day I will receive the package from Cablesaurus (Tracking number will be available. 3-5 days express shipping) - I will use the 5 GPU to mine back the loans directly to the BTC address given by the lender. Unless technical problem occur or maintenance/testing/update are needed I will keep them running 24/24 7/7. - Personal info to verify my identity and internet reputation available privately to lender. - I reserve the right to mine on the pool of my choice or my P2Pool node with 0.5% fee. 0.25% goes to the P2Pool author. - I reserve the right to merge mine NMC, CPU mine LTC and keep them as long as it don't interfere with BTC mining. Please for simplicity I prefer to get a loans from only one lender. You can contact me via PM or in this thread. Thank you for your consideration. 01BTC10

Hey Coblee I have a question: is it possible to use this listen port 9333 when litecoind or litecoin-qt is connected using socks4 proxy? What do you say, is it possible to forward this port so the application listen through the proxy server it is connected via? Thank you
It is possible to use TOR wich is a socks5 proxy. I can't tell about socks4 as I'm still new to networking. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Tor

so i followed the guide for windows and got my local machine to mine and run p2pool, but how would i point my other machine running bamt to it? i tried using the username:password i setup in the rpc conf and pointed it to 127.0.0.1:9332, yes the ports open, but it did nothing. thanks in advance
127.0.0.1 is a special address for localhost 127.0.0.1 on your other machine is look back at itself not looking at the machine running p2pool. you just need to replace 127.0.0.1 with the local IP address of the machine running p2pool. likely it is 192.168.x.x I tried pointing it to host machine internal ip also, 192.168.#.# but ........ chalk one up for another reason not to mess with settings after pool league and 3 or 4 pitchers of beer, i was pointing it back to the bamt machine and not the one hosting, i thought i was doing it right but the beer got to me hehe, all is good now i have it working since i put the right ip in lol. thanks for the help fellas now, if i want to be a public node, i just use a redirection service like no-ip, and forward 9332 to port 80 right? on windows by the way if that matters. No need to forward 9332 to 80 but it's better for those with proxy.
