1421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving Party 2016 on: December 18, 2015, 08:58:20 PM
People the halving has no effect on price, you should give a look to past halvings.

That's what I predict - just look at LTC halving; price rose a few months prior but nothing changed once the halving went through.

Although I say that, I hope the current price isn't topping out now Cheesy

Starting to buy back in.  Gotta get back that 60 CUBE I spent on the stake stick Smiley

Not to mention I got kicked off the top 100....the goal right now is to have my name high up on that list Cheesy  Should see my name pop up there today!

Mission accomplished  Grin Back in the top 100!

...although I'm still near the bottom.  TIME TO BUY MORE!

@Dev, what's the word with stakesticks?  How come we have to wait until January, anyway?  So excited to receive my stick Cheesy

1424  Economy / Auctions / Re: Potential Full Member Account - activity 120+ on: December 18, 2015, 04:05:16 AM
Can someone explain this 'signed message 6m+' and 'private account key' information to me?

I have an older account that I don't use any more, but don't know how to go about selling it.  Thanks in advance  Smiley
1425  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BTC mining in your telephone - yes or no on: December 18, 2015, 03:58:40 AM
A 5 year old is better than the latest phone when mining.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think child labor would do well for bitcoin's image  Shocked

Good work!  But remove the link on 'info:' as it just refreshes the current page.  And maybe move the stakestick specs up higher, and the 'supports...' info lines underneath, as it isn't consistent...but that's just my OCD talking Cheesy

for example:

Android 4.3 Jellybean
Quad Core, Cotex-A9, Up to 1.4GHz
Mali-400 MP4 GPU at up to 1080p
OpenGLES2.0/1.1 and OpenVG1.1
DDR3 2GB Nand Flash: 8GB
Supports Adobe flash 11.0
Supports Bluetooth RK3188T
Supports Netflix, Flixster,YouTube
Supports USB Mouse and Keyboard
Supports 2.4GHz USB dongle
1427  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BTC mining in your telephone - yes or no on: December 18, 2015, 03:43:27 AM
What if instead of the phone's CPU doing the mining, it connects to a remote source - and with thousands of phones connecting, achieves some desirable result?  For example (a very, very, very bad and not recommended example) a botnet-type service, maybe performing beneficial tasks, rather than performing random DDoS attacks at the hands of some middle-school kid trying to skip detention  Grin

We have to think in theory before taking a first step - because it's already common knowledge a phone won't generate anything worthwhile through its own hardware.
1428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down? on: December 18, 2015, 03:04:48 AM
we have to do is, how that bitcoin could be used for offline, what is that possible ?
internet is the half of my life without it i will die..

You won't die, because you'll still have that other half.  You'll adapt to a world without internet, and learn how to replace certain activities you perform online in the real world.  Sounds like you need a vacation to some remote location that has no satellite service!

This isn't the matrix dude - the internet has only been mainstream for what, 20-30 years?  I'm pretty sure people managed the horrible task of living offline for....however many millennia before that Cheesy
1429  Other / Politics & Society / Re: RESPONSE TO ISIS AND OTHER ISLAMIC MILLITANTS GROUPS on: December 18, 2015, 02:51:33 AM
I am a Muslim, and being a Muslim its my responsibilty to told you these millitants groups that do not do that on the name of ISLAM.
So you as a member of one sect of Islam want to tell people that another sect of islam is not islam or something like that.  But to westerners this is absolutely no different than Protestants claiming Catholics are "not true Christians."

Let's just say that this Kafir does not buy your argument at all.  And it's my responsibility to tell you that.

Please try to keep your responses brief.  There is no need to quote massively from old books to make an argument.  One or two verses is usually sufficient.  But non believers will not believe the verses, of course.  However, I understand why you quote them - nobody argues that most Muslims are not peaceful.

meanwhile, let's look at November -

www.thereligionofpeace.com

Jihad Report November, 2015

 Jihad Attacks:169
 Countries:    30
Allah Akbars:    34
 Dead Bodies:    1455
 Critically Injured:1706

Whomever is coming up with these numbers is horribly wrong.  I follow the Syrian war through various militant groups social media and can tell you there are hundreds of akbars summoned each day.  If not thousands.  34 in an entire month?  naw dude.

I've even made an entire compilation of akbars back in january, check this out (if you can handle it):

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d6e_1391006121

The list is world wide.  Remember a lot of things do not get news coverage.  Pakistan does not, Paris does.  Etc.  The complete list is on the website.  Refute the list, not me....

Sorry, I didn't intend to direct that at you, only at what was posted.

I just looked at their front page picture about the christian - funny how they ignore the fact that muslims and christians lived side by side peacefully before the war?  This isn't about Islam.  This is about militant factions using religion as a pretext for their actions, which only serve to benefit their masters (who probably don't give a shit about religion, rather...$$$)
1430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: December 17, 2015, 07:42:24 PM
Said before - but to anyone just showing up:

My bank account automatically sets aside $1 every time I use my debit card

If I go out and buy gas, using checking account, $1 will move to my savings.  A few card swipes a week = ~$20/month

move that $20 to BTC, and I don't notice a loss in fiat

If you don't have a similar bank system, just put aside $1 every day and when that balance gets substantial, put those savings into BTC.  Now you can obsess over the price of BTC like the rest of us Smiley

If the internet gos down will use (IPoAC) IP over Avian Carriers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers

Quote
with a packet loss ratio of 55% (due to user error)

Quote
this technology suffers from poor latency

 Cheesy This is GOLD, LOL

What's the point of implementing packets through pigeons though?  Just send whatever damn message as a whole and save the bird a few flights

I wrote an article about pigeons in Damascus - might be interesting to some:

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ea1_1397012080

If you really think about it, IP over Avian Carriers might actually serve as a back up one day...let's not hope it comes to that  Shocked

Blockexperts show no new blocks since yesterday.  I still got my client connected and staking.

Seems to be working now, not that anyone seems to care anymore.

yeah crypto is a little quiet right now. holidays and end of school semester and such.  also the BEs get stuck sometimes for a few hours but they usually fix themselves

Are we wrapping up any updates until the new year then?

you ever have those times, where you know a date is approaching and your like. ahh i got time i got time. its like 2 weeks off. and then suddenly somehow it comes and is tomorrow and ur like shit, i thought i had more time. thats what happened to me for finals for school. but its okay. cuz im finally done with classes for the semester. i have until february off, so update pending some time this weekend hopefully.

Dude, I logged on to bct to forget about my academic obligations.  Are you my professor?  WHO PAID YOU TO DO THIS?  I get it, I'll finish studying....

last final tonight, wish me luck  Grin

cmon guys, at least show possible investors something...

An altcoin bootstrap tracker is a great idea - one I'd personally love getting involved in - but without anything to show for, it's hard to hold interest & gain backers...

Anyone remember the LTC halving?  The price rose months before, and when halving actually occurred, nothing big happened....hope this $450 isn't all we're gonna see in regards to BTC  Shocked
1436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down? on: December 17, 2015, 06:24:04 PM
What if the internet goes down temporarily? What would happen to BTC?

See the article about ISIS possibly trying to take down the internet.

http://www.inquisitr.com/2639738/isis-hackers-trying-to-take-down-the-internet-cyber-warfare-app-discovered/

Quote
As the Hillary Clinton email scandal has taught us, even high-ranking government officials use the internet to share sensitive information

Who the hell wrote this article, and why are they getting paid for this when I'm sitting here posting on bitcointalk  Undecided

Quote
The hacking experts believe that it only took around 18,000 smartphones running the ISIS app at the same time to generate the massive amount of internet traffic needed to disrupt the system.

Do these people know anything about ISIS?  Unless there's some secret Islamic State phone-farm running 18k instances, I highly doubt that many fighters have phones with the capabilities to run such an app

Soneone just took a big dump.

It'd be nice if they only took a dump in the toilet in future  Grin

It is really a great time to buy. Well done!

That's what I was thinking....but I wonder what the price of CUBE will be once we receive our stake sticks?  Will price hold until then, or will we be staking dust?

Either way, I'm gonna be holding until then Cheesy

Does anyone else disagree with the community's view on 'post length'?

Sometimes a simple sentence or two is all that's needed - why do most services count the length of posts when a lot of times, 90% is useless filler or repetition?

Sometimes, less is more... Wink

You can edit the letter or make your own...that is just a template.

How does one start their own escrow service?  For a while now, I've really been interested in starting an escrow service for others, be it for a small profit or an increase in trust.

I've got multiple sources from different websites & users that could verify me as trustworthy, but I just don't know how to get my name out there (this wouldn't be the name I'd use - I have an older account with the same login I use everywhere else)

Thanks in advance for any help Smiley
