561  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Is amory going to support download headers only? on: February 21, 2015, 02:38:52 AM
By SPV do you mean a BC Core setting that doesn't save block data locally, only block headers? How will Armory parse the blockchain to find your wallets' history then?

I am talking about using the bloom filter that is on the bitcoin-core system. This would eliminate the entire armory database. Currently armory has two databases, the bitcoin core, and it's own. Right now both of those take up ~60gb on my system. It would be nice to eliminate one of those databases. I understand the risk that armory would have with just using a bloom filter to get transactions.

564  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why Charles Hoskinson pisses me off! on: February 15, 2015, 04:44:40 AM
He pisses me off because he took advantage of a 19yr's idea to make a quick buck off of it. If anyone remembers I was the one that got Charles to remove the price on his education series. He only came here to make money, that is his motivation. He is a bad actor.

What stops you from just saying you lost the money and keep it for yourself?
566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the elites plan when they get back from the island? on: February 09, 2015, 06:15:39 PM
I heard on a secret forum, they are going to pay the foundation to make bitcoins a proof of stake coin.

I AM JUST SAYING...

What do you guys think is going to happen? The protocol is going to change overnight LOL Whatever happens will not effect bitcoin in the least bit. Now if they were banks I be scared.

You mean the BitMessage secret forum or the one on that .bit web site?

All this conspiracy nonsense is just that, nonsense.  It is just some people who have similar interests and believe in the promise of the bitcoin technology.  People meeting, discussing business and improving their offerings is a good thing.  Nothing changes in the protocol, the people I saw who were attending on the list wouldn't abandon bitcoin and sell their coins (no matter how few or many they control).  At worst someone may get a good idea about a new product.

And, btw, this so called "elite" moniker is just a ridiculous meme.  They just wanted to make it sound exclusive to entice people to come.  Since it is difficult to know who is behind what address/group of addresses, inviting so-called "whales" to meet on a nice island is a crapshoot.

I was just being funny with the secret forum LMAO and I agree the elite moniker is dumb.

just because the venue is a remote island doesnt make much differnce IMO

Actually as someone that had the opportunity to go, but didn't act on it for my own views about some of the people there. I have to agree and disagree. I think they all wanted to go to a nice vacation spot, but I would have enjoyed just listening on skype more than flying to a remote island.

Wasn't it going to be streamed live online ?

BTC media will be taping things but I don't think there will be a live stream.

Which form does Mycelium beta export?
It is for somebody who knows which form of the public key Mycelium beta exports to answer this question.
devs, or anyone who has exported the key from beta.

Base58, xpub can only be Base58.

573  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: February 06, 2015, 05:16:29 PM

In what form does Mycelium export the public key, is it the base58 version starting with the letters "xpub", or is it the hex version?

https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0032.mediawiki#serialization-format

Quote
This 78 byte structure can be encoded like other Bitcoin data in Base58, by first adding 32 checksum bits (derived from the double SHA-256 checksum), and then converting to the Base58 representation. This results in a Base58-encoded string of up to 112 characters. Because of the choice of the version bytes, the Base58 representation will start with "xprv" or "xpub" on mainnet, "tprv" or "tpub" on testnet.
I know.  It can take both forms. Which form does Mycelium beta export?

I'm not going to use the beta version because I have too many coins in my wallet to risk experimenting with it.

I am using software that tracks HD transactions and uses the public key to do so.  I entered my xpub key and the aforementioned software returned a value of zero as the wallet contents.

I used http://bip32jp.github.io/english/  to get the public key.  I'm pretty sure the key is correct, because I checked the addresses generated actually appear on the list in my wallet.  If the addresses are correct, then the xpub key must be correct.

The software I mentioned is at coyno.com.  I am trying to use it to help with my taxes.

Yesterday morning my accountant and I had a conference call with the coyno developers to discuss the challenges of keeping records and generating tax reports across wallets and exchanges.

Anyway, I logged in at coyno, went to the mycelium tab and entered my xpub key in base58 form this morning and got that wrong result.  I emailed coyno and asked which public key format their site requires, but haven't heard back yet.  Presumably the format mycelium beta puts out is the one they're looking for.  That's why I'm asking here.

That is not why it says zero, it probably because you need to set the path to BIP 44. Sounds more like a bug with coyno.com than anything you are doing.

Come hang out https://goseemybits.com/view/ClaesXCummings just chilling today. Come watch, you need to register to chat but not to tip.

Most of the time 0 models online

I will say this site is testing my entrepreneurial skills and I love it!!! I am going to write a book on starting a bitcoin porno startup,  you literally are fighting for every piece of content on the site and it just makes this site so much better to look at. No handbooks here, no 5 day training course, I am like rambo and bitcoin is my weapon. I have to take down a whole army.

Now onto your statement, yes I agree. It is a piss poor number to look at, but the fact is I have to convince models making $500 a day to use a site, that probably will not make that for them. They look at me like I have three heads, most of them are not ready for risk and to find the ones that are, is hard. I am up against the world with showing them bitcoin. But Challenge accepted!!!!!!

So that number will be their for a while, and trust me it haunts my dreams. Plus we only launch in middle January so I have a lot of catching up to do against modeling sites that have been around for 10-15yrs.

I could help design a new theme if you'd like. It looks very plain.

Thanks but no thanks, I don't want to spend money on a theme at this time.

I open your site, there are no models.

Yeah read my post above... tomorrow we will have a model on it. 2pm - 4pm. Asking models to accept a new currency is very hard but we are working on it Wink

Come hang out tomorrow (2/6/2015) from 2pm to 4pm EST! We are still working on getting more models we have a few that are just waiting for me to give some bitcoin lessons too!

Electrum Beta 2.0 binaries out: https://electrum.org/beta/ for those you want to use the Trezor without compiling software or using mytrezor.com

It is really only for windows, otherwise for linux or mac people you still need to have the proper dependencies to run it. So still not usable.

Still quite major news for 90% of the users: http://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0

Not really around here, but ok you keep thinking that LOL.

Then the trezor-lite is basically unusable right now since no other wallet supports the trezor.
