561  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hillary Clinton as the next leader of the damned? on: May 05, 2015, 10:55:33 AM
People vote with their hearts not with their minds. They vote for the person not the policies. She'll win because most women will vote for her on the mere fact she's a woman alone.
They voted Obama because they wanted to see a black man win. In a way I was glad to see it too, but it hasn't really panned out too well has it. Oh well, give the broad a try...
Anyway, there's better broads out there. Hillary is corrupt as hell. At least she is menopausal so she won't start WWIII when she gets PMS

I agree somewhat, a female president is inline with the current liberal zeitgeist pervading much of the US (from an outsiders view).

If you are from the USA, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Iceland one interesting option is parking money in Singapore real estate. Singapore has taken great pains to keep foreigners out of its property market. They have been trying to keep speculators from driving up the costs of property.

To cool investment Singapore has imposed a flat 15% tax on all foreigners who buy property in Singapore. Individuals not native to Singapore essentially have to pay an extra 15% to buy property. However, if you are from USA, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Iceland you are immune to this 15% tax due to old free trade agreements that these countries signed with Singapore.

Essentially individuals from those countries can buy for the same price as a native. My understanding is that the banks in Singapore will let you take out a mortgage in US dollars if you earn income in USD but you have to have 30% down. Note that I have not actually done this so I can not guarantee this last point.

Advantages of Singapore Property:
1) Singapore has no capital gains tax
2) Singapore has low property taxes (home unlikely to become giant leaching device)
3) Singapore tax on rental income is only 20%
4) A mortgage in dollars on a home in Singapore is a nice hedge against dollar decline
5) Its one of the most desirable areas to own property in the world and likely to become more so in the future
6) Plan B property if that becomes needed

Disadvantages of Singapore Properly:
1) US dollar is currently on a short term upward trajectory (so now might be early)
2) Singapore property is in an artificial downward trajectory triggered by the 15% tax (so now might be early)
3) Singapore has subsidized public housing for natives which will suppress rental income

Thanks for that CC. Very interesting.

But what are you going to do once we are literally forced to deploy some marxist-like measures like minimum guaranteed welfare once automation makes it impossible to go above a certain treshhold of unemployment? Assuming you are not delusional enough to think there will be enough jobs for everyone, and assuming you are not a psychopath that would let that big % of people die when they aren't responsible of being replaced by machines (your or some of your friends could be on this % in the future), what are you going to do? shoot yourself because history and technological developments forces us to give welfare proving some of your dogmas wrong? get some perspective buddy.

The solution is simple. There will be too many jobs (in fact there are already way more jobs than there are skilled on people on earth[1]) but many people will refuse to adapt and won't attain necessary skills. Those hard-headed Marxists will huddle together in a bankrupted welfare one-world morass and effectively kills themselves with State war and eugenics. There is nothing I could possibly do to save them. They will try to steal resources from everyone and bring everything down into the abyss with them. Problem solved by nature (and a pandemic might help out too).

With so many making posts like yours it is clear to see why the world is going to fall into a severe abyss.

Are you literally brain dead? We are heading towards increased perpetual unemployment due automation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pq-S557XQU

It doesn't take rocket science PhD levels of intellect to see how we are headed towards a dead end within the current system.
And no, not everyone is going to be able to magically become programmers. Me for example, im unable to program, my brain is just not wired that way. You are legitimately delusional if you think all we need is making all those factory workers, taxi drivers, and the long list becoming programmers, just lol. And lol if you think all those simple tier programmers aren't going to get automated as well.

At the risk of sounding trite, a Knowledge Age does not have to be just about programming. Sites like Etsy show a demonstrable demand for personalised products. Yes it's hard to make a living that way, but the convulsions from automation are one of many headwinds facing society. Many unskilled jobs have been protected by the state for years- at the expense of those more productive. I've retaken the Jung/Myers Briggs personality test and apparently I'm INFJ/INTJ so I understand your concern for people but there doesn't seem to be a pretty way to resolve any of this. It may be best to give society less pity (part of the reason we are in this mess) and let it try and repair itself without top-down measures. For example the state getting out of the way here is now referred to as a 'miracle'. Perhaps not entirely appropriate, but I see some similarities.

Nice coin, good work Smiley
565  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SALE!] Unobtanium Pure Silver Wallet - Plated available on: May 04, 2015, 09:04:35 AM
You could add an option for your customers to choose what they want. Both, one or none. Maybe combine it with a small discount?

Also, should I add the Unobtanium bars to your website? The only thing on there right now are your goxxed coins and I think the Coinbase link doesn't work anymore.

Hey Mitchell, the site certainly needs a little bit of love, I've let it fall apart a little!

When the new bars come in we can chat about fixing it up again, thanks!
566  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: May 04, 2015, 05:27:56 AM
The real tragedy is the massive and rising cost of undergrad education. Undergraduate degrees despite the hype do not lead to guaranteed high income jobs unless you are smart about what you study and are good at what you do.

It is similar in the UK. Except the loans are government (tax payer) backed. Fees have at least tripled in ten years, probably quadrupled (I haven't checked recently). Though the repayments are automatic (depending on your income/tax) it's less burdensome in terms of repayment and interest  than the US, but has still warped the educational institutions. I think anyone giving it a few minutes of thought understands it's a cynical government program to prevent unemployment numbers from growing as fast as they would without somewhere to funnel unwitting students.
To say that 10% of my peers (out of 5-700) gained employment commensurate with their area of study would be very generous.

edit: google 'project hero student loans' for some truly nauseating scheming by the authority to milk those indebted by retroactively changing their terms of the loan to raise the interest (UK), I don't think this would stand in court but it would not surprise me to see similar initiatives on the horizon.
567  Economy / Speculation / Re: declining volatility on: May 03, 2015, 09:25:11 PM
Probably got a few years of rollercoaster whipsaws imo. Wouldn't have it any other way!
568  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SALE!] Unobtanium Pure Silver Wallet - Plated available on: May 03, 2015, 02:52:01 PM
Thanks for the input guys. I'll proceed on an optional basis. If I can add a discount I will, but the discount wouldn't be a huge amount. I'll work it out closer to the time. I still have a few weeks until the next run come through with the newest bars and coins.
569  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: May 02, 2015, 09:11:12 PM
Decentralized Knowledge Age in action. The youth in Japan are rejecting the historically intense xenophobia and isolationism:

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/688857/japanese-tests-market-for-food-in-streets-of-cebu

This is heartening to see! Let's hope the ossified institutions only interested in rent seeking crumble and do not constrict the potential of the youth of the world.
570  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SALE!] Unobtanium Pure Silver Wallet - Plated available on: May 02, 2015, 12:13:48 PM
I've been assessing the labels I supply with the bars, can a few of you guys tell me if you used the inkjet- or laserjet labels? I'm feeling it might be a bit wasteful including them both, but I do like that it gives my customers the flexibility to use different printers for the labels, what do you think?
571  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SALE!] Unobtanium Pure Silver Wallet - Plated available on: April 30, 2015, 06:41:09 AM
Many apologies for the delay guys. So many things have been getting in the way.

Today I will finally be ordering in another run of bars, labels, holograms and goxxed coins!

Thanks for all the patience. I'll be in touch with everyone that expressed an interest when they arrive.
572  Economy / Speculation / Re: The BTC Road to Double Digits Thread on: April 26, 2015, 05:40:53 PM
This is it guys.  It was an honor meeting all of you.  See you at the bottom.

Ouch. This thing is all over the place right now. Hockey sticks everywhere.

573  Economy / Speculation / Re: The BTC Road to Double Digits Thread on: April 25, 2015, 06:09:16 PM
Nah man...  This ship is going down.

I think so too, but after a potential small rally, it's looking bleaker by the hour though :-/
574  Economy / Speculation / Re: The BTC Road to Double Digits Thread on: April 25, 2015, 09:36:06 AM
Looks like this is still on...

I think there is a strong chance of a run to $240-250 from here. I guess the next 24 hours will tell.
575  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: April 24, 2015, 09:05:39 PM

On the erotic topic, may I disgress (since I know this is male only demographics) how does the thought of depositing inside of Hillary (in her fertile years) sit with you all?  Huh   Undecided

I am hoping for some humorous replies (this thread needs some banter).

Well that made me laugh! Probably because the turn was unexpected.

So are young people waking up to this shit? Perhaps this pop video indicates it (good for a laugh). But many of my 'intellectual' peers are hopelessly socialist.

And on the scapegoat of the flash crash, I only read the headline to know what was going on there- exasperating. It really would be funny if it wasn't at playground level antics, good job regulators! That was good for a laugh, or at least the thought of regulators actually successively achieving their stated purpose!
576  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: April 24, 2015, 06:58:19 PM
Me too. Tried IE, that's working.
Yeah, I'm using Firefox or Mycelium for the time being. Haven't heard anything from anyone on the Trezor team yet. Some news as to why MyTrezor doesn't work on Chrome / ETA on a fix would be nice to know.

Have you tried it recently? It started working for me on Chrome again yesterday.
I tried it about 24 hours ago with no luck. I'll try again in a few hours though and hopefully it's working again.

Not working on chrome for me. I'm pretty disappointed by this.
577  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: April 23, 2015, 04:55:51 PM
When will Marty learn to stop masturbating and focus his effort on what actually works throughout history? Which is facilitating frontiers for those who are smart enough to move to them.

Hard to pull his hands from his underwear when a large slice of his target demographic probably wouldn't be all that down with major disruption, though I think it is simply wishful thinking- as total disintegration of the current paradigm doesn't bare thinking of. And despite our dislike for the state in it's current form there are those who see the train wreck and wish to avert it in the halls of power. They are simply too few and far between imo though.
578  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: April 23, 2015, 06:53:35 AM

Statist Russia now has a BIG problem with a nasty crude opiate "krokodil" (sp?) that not even hard-ass ex-KGB-er Putin can stop.

krokodil has been around for many years now. The broken and disaffected will always find ways to self disillusion and oblivion (and the authority will always want it so), if it wasn't that disgusting conconction then addicts would be destroying themselves with another substance. Personally I don't see krokodil as a problem, but more of a symptom of the lack of free markets in drugs and typical of extreme poverty (encapsulating lack of opportunity and child raising factors). Yes it is sad to watch people literally rot themselves while seeking relief, but like you write it cannot be stopped entirely by topdown mandates.

I'm just going to quietly leave this here  Wink

Thanks for thread, as always

What's the big deal? I was trading bitcoin with plus500 more than a year ago.
580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Critical Levels - EW analysis on: April 22, 2015, 10:03:11 AM
I've been lurking here for months. Quite impressed.

I'd like to get round to learning EW soon. Could you recommend any books or courses? Cheers

Martin J Pring is a good starting point in my opinion. You can find PDFs and seminars easily available on the internet, and his books are pretty popular too.
