Oh, and you should take a Toastmaster Course and become skilled in your interactions with others. Talking down and being condescending towards others is not becoming of someone who is trying to present an idea.

I think you are being over-sensitive coinits, I've followed iamback for a while now, he may be blunt on occasion but it is mostly because he is tired of wasting his time re-explaining things over and over. I can recommend reading through his writings which are here and linked multiple times throughout these threads. While I haven't completely read them yet myself (it would takes me days possibly weeks) I think once you start you will gain an appreciation for the breadth of iambacks experience and perception.

coinits, I think Bix is jumping to conclusions, from what I've read there will be no bailout from the Austrian government- I read part of a statement from the Austrian Finance Minister. While this is a municipal default like Detroit I believe he stated that a certain amount of the debt will still be repaid, but the buck will stop with this default.
The state of Carinthia was left in a mess by previous politicians allowing these state guarantees, this default is exactly as it should be. An unjust debt being reneged on. I'm not saying that's exactly what is happening, but I do not believe this is a black swan. I believe that the losses will be contained, this time. Perhaps the ECB will extend their QE to buy up this toxic sludge like the Fed has previously done in a similar fashion.
663  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: March 09, 2015, 09:31:59 AM
To be honest, I don't think bitcoin is "the one"

Anything that markets itself as "the future", most of the time, it isn't.

I agree Patel. There is an awful lot of rhetoric surrounding the use of bitcoin which is not based in reality.

That is not to say that I am not an advocate. But wider adoption of bitcoin encounters problems that are common not to just technology, but human society- idealism, ignorance, greed, corruption and regulation to name just a few. IMO there is nor will there ever be a perfect system, only a web of varying degrees of freedom or control and the ever fluctuating culture of different countries and how they react or are manipulated into reacting.
664  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: March 08, 2015, 08:30:07 PM
No one knows. But my belief is that if Bitcoin survives it will be worth more than it is now. I truly have no idea how much that might be though.

Interesting article on the Dutch housing market talking about the bubble:

I am expecting the next epidemic to help wipe out the socialism problem with entitled boomers. Eyeballing it roughly half of the boomers will be age 65 or older in 2019.

Thought provoking as always iamback. Perhaps the socialism would be reduced in the US, and possibly to a lesser extent in the UK (my opinion). But the European continent has thoroughly impressed big government onto many of the Western nations, I feel that there is a chance in the event of global epidemic that socialism would probably grow, not lessen in Europe.
668  Economy / Economics / Re: Advice on buying a house (Netherlands, Amsterdam) on: March 07, 2015, 10:35:10 AM
I am confident you can find a way to justify to yourself to buy high and sell low, if that is what you really want.

If I buy and everything goes as badly as you expect then I'm not so sure that price will matter or that default will be high on my list of worries.

You might need to leave NL for example.

It absolutely will go as badly as I expect.

I really appreciate your concern iamback. I will continue to read Armstrong. I mentioned about watching his DVD, I think I need to see him cohesively presenting his research before I do anything.

Hi andulolika, feel free to PM me. I don't know what clam is, but I'm always open to a decent trade. And I'm happy to hold a bar or however many you want for you.
CLAM is an altcoin mostly used by Just-Dice.

Thanks Mitchell!

672  Economy / Economics / Re: Advice on buying a house (Netherlands, Amsterdam) on: March 06, 2015, 10:44:38 PM
Are you set on Amsterdam, or would you consider buying in other cities?
Rotterdam & Den Haag have much cheaper houses, and the buy/price relation is quite nice from what I hear, perhaps even compared to Amsterdam.

A world of caution, independently of where you buy it - there are many many houses in The Netherlands that are set on government land, which means you'll pay land rent for it. It's not always clear in the advertisements. Make sure the house is on "eigen grond".

Also yes, I have considered the lower priced housing in Den Haag and Rotterdam, they are very tempting as they are well within my budget and obviously you get a lot more for your money/debt. I believe Den Haag has the best rental yields in The Netherlands, but this is not a sole factor in my choosing to buy, but certainly something to remember.

Hi okthen, I have read about this yes, you pay like a ground rent to the government right?

Yes, it's called "erfpacht". The amount of the canon can really vary, it's normally payed per half year. Some houses are on a "permanent lease" without costs (normally someone in the past payed the canon for a long amount of time, or some special permission was conceded). In this case you pay 0, and normally the contract states something like 99 years as the lease expiration date.

Just something to look out for Smiley

Thanks.

Very similar to what's called 'leasehold' and 'freehold' in the UK- land owned either by a private land corporation (old money I assume) or by the government. Freehold is in the name and is largely free of any yearly costs.

amazing thread, has disturbed my sleep for a few days now..

I always come back to read the fascinating discussion. There are some great conversations going on.

As I was researching Armstrong- I am neither convinced nor entirely skeptical of him at this point (I do agree with him on many things) I did come across this article (I only share it as I know that some people may be interested in the other side of the argument) I'm actually thinking of buying his latest DVD, as it could be interesting to actually see him present in-depth and make some notes and witness the unfolding of the predictions one way or another myself.

CXO Advisory on Martin Armstrong

Hey, just found out about your lovely bar.
Trying to get some tiny collection started, got a 2014 Kialara, a 2012 Brass keychain and a 2015 CryptoImperator at home and would love to expand...
Anyway, so a silver plated one with shipping to Netherlands is going to be 8 GBP?

Gotta move some funds first, but could you reserve number (forgot the word Number... Stupid me) 60 is possible? If that isn't available 65, and otherwise 75.
Thanks mate!

Hi kuus, thanks for your interest, I will get back to you tomorrow morning when your number choice has been confirmed!
I guess I'll just PM you with the rest of my questions. Answer when you have time, I can wait.
Thinking about that Goxxed coin too.

Sorry kuus, I was just heading to bed- I've been a little under the weather this past week so it's early nights for me! PM me with all your questions and I'll answer them first thing- I spend my mornings following up emails before breakfast Smiley

I would like a Silver Plated Bar, number 55 if possible. I wish I could buy the silver one, but I just don't have the BTC for it.

Hey Mitchell! Nice to hear from you. I nearly messaged you recently. I'll pop you a PM.

Number 55 should be no problem. Maybe we can meet face to face for the trade (and not miss each other this time!)

This is an interesting chart and an interesting historical record of housing prices in the Herengracht canal ring:

https://hotelivory.wordpress.com/2010/08/29/a-very-long-view-on-house-prices/

It's a shame that it doesn't come up to 2015, but that's quite easily to imagine.
