Bio 101 Species always grow in population until they surpass carrying capacity. Then they crash. Humans are just another animal and will pass "K" in our lifetime. Be ready or be eaten.

聡中本 Sato Nakamoto

聡 - wisdom
中 - inside / center / mouth
本 - root / origin

I speak and read some Japaneese. Here is an attempt to decode his name. Family names are written in ideograms barrowed from Chineese. They are really pictures. For example Tokyo can be written as 東京. The first character depicts the sun rising behind a tree and means East. The second shows a Chineese lantern like those found at ancient capitols. So To-Kyo means "Eastern Capitol".
In the family name Naka-Moto the first character is a mouth with something going inside, and the second character depicts a tree with the roots drawn in.

9063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Absolute proof that Bitcoin is the DEVIL! on: July 04, 2011, 07:10:49 PM
Everyone analyzes his first name, Sato (聡). It is sometimes interpreted as "wisdom".  But what about Nakamoto (中本). My Japaneese is not very good, but I read that as "middle root" or "inside originator". Something like that.
And of course, 聡中本 is a common name.

If the system allowed management, it would allow mismanagement.
9065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting concerned on: July 04, 2011, 06:38:31 PM
Conceder that all the problems you listed are true of the cash in your pocket. And consider that BTC was never ment to get someone rich, it's an alternate currency for buying and selling on the Internet. That's all.
9066  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin used to run, now crashes on launch even after re-install on: July 04, 2011, 06:30:02 PM
I would second the suggestion that you check your registry files and clean out your app data. And, yes start by backing up your wallet.DAT file.
It is also very helpful if you tell us your OS; i.e. Windows Vista.
9067  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm an undeserving early adopter, and here is my side. on: July 04, 2011, 06:24:33 PM
I find the "early adopters" bashing so strange. I took a bigger risk in buying early and so, as with any business venture, I stand to gain more. I think a lot of newcommers here simply don't understand the economics going on arround them.
If you are really into sodomy try day-trading with the big kids for real money. Try making a profit in commodities or currency trading. Unfair? Pfft. If you knew how your 401k money was being used, then you would really cry foul.
9068  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What the Early Adoptors Don't want you to know on: July 04, 2011, 06:11:39 PM
If I understand the system of BTC. What prevent us of saying fuck the rules thought by Satoshi ? And say that mining will always create 50BTC (or more). If the most accept this rule, it will become the new rule. And we can change the rule whenever we want. Isn't it the spirit of BTC ?  Huh
Nothing is preventing this, it's open source. But it means splitting the chain and creating a new currency. So your starting a new project from scratch. You should be able generate interest in this project and "catch up" with BTC for, say, $5 million in advertising. At that point you could commit to buying the first $100 million worth at $15/. Now you are ready to compete with bitcoin.
Oh, and I still am not interested. I'll stick with Satoshi's idea.
9069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really believe Satoshi is real?? on: July 04, 2011, 04:05:30 PM
If (s)he had just picked a normal hacker name this would be less mysterious.

A dollar in hand is worth two in the bush?
9071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitClip (dedicated bitcoin hardware) Offical Development Thread on: July 01, 2011, 08:06:59 PM
Are you looking for venture capital? I might invest some dollars or BTC into such an idea.
I looked into the smart card that is in development, but I like your device better. It is way more versatile.
I would rater go the donation route due to the fact that I may hand off the project to someone else with more experience.
If you would like, I could make the amount you donate worth a discount on the final product(s) you wish to buy.
If you don't want to go any other way, as I have no real financial experience, all I can do is promise you Ill try to give you a set return.
cool. Well you can count on me for your first sale. No need for any discount. Hell I'd buy a buggy, overpriced prototype just to support the idea.
P.S. i sent you a PM Smiley

You have been written into my cool book! Thanks man,

See you at the UChicago round table discussion?

Yes. that will be awesome. You can help shout down the hecklers. lol
But seriously, as that date gets closer we should talk. Your shopping cart is just the type of thing I would expect that audience to be interested in. It's an important contribution to the bitcoin economy.

I have a database which lists all shuttles US launched into the space to date. I've just added a few records to that database. Opps, this was the biggest counterfeiting operation in history of mankind! I've just counterfeighted  a few "space shuttles". While I am at it I perhaps shall put a (counterfeit) man on the Moon too...

There. I just counterfeited Vladimir's post. Cool
9075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal for a physical bitcon "wallet" on: July 01, 2011, 01:03:51 AM

Some degree of withholding information to be expected when you are compromised. Gox may have been concerned that immediately releasing all they knew could aid the people who did this.

I just want add a +1 to anyone considering biddingpond. There is no way to crush all the problem users and crooks at any website, but Biddingpond has always been willing to answer questions and do whatever they can to help.

@gochk

I should tell you I'm not a miner. But on my antique thinkpad running Ubuntu 10.10 I think I have gotten 541 MH/s.
That is with no real video card and a 1.7GHz processor.  The way I checked this is using the interface of the bitcoin client. It may be removed in this latest version, but it used to appear in the lower left corner of the interface when in "mine coins" mode.
