Oke so maybe i got Dpos wrong so all lisk owners can vote for delegates and how will this be processed ? do you might know a good post to read about it, cause i know a lot about coins , just never dealed with a Dpos coin yet to be honest.

Take a look here.
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 19, 2016, 10:58:52 AM
LiskHQ , the 101 wallet adresses that make a node will become delegates right ?

Can there be a way that the Lisk team will claim up all of those delegates , cause with the millions coins even split in 101 wallets they will have the top wallets or am i thinking wrong ?

You are talking about the Lisk blockchain itself, right? 101 delegates, i.e. 101 Lisk addresses can become active delegates. There will be thousands of regular addresses though. Everyone can own LISK, not only the delegates.

The community will vote for these delegates with all their LISK themselves. That means everyone has the chance to become a delegate.

Theoretically everyone could create 101 delegates and end up with all of them being active. However, this is very unlikely. To make this scenario even more unlikely, we introduced the Forging Rewards. This way we can be pretty sure that there is stiff competition, that means everyone will want to be a delegate.

This weeks bounty summary:

I just wrote down all Facebook likers (110 stakes), Twitter followers (302 stakes), Newsletter subscribers (955 stakes), Signature participants (93 stakes) and translators (27 stakes).

Week #1 Values

Please note that there is an unusual high number of newsletter subscribers. We suspect that these are fake emails. We are using Mailchimp to send out our newsletters, and we can see user ratings there. That means we can see if a user is reading a newsletter or not. At the end of the newsletter bounty campaign we can filter out all fake emails this way.

Here you can view the signature stakes for the second week. The other lists won't be released, because there exists a privacy conflict.

Thank you very much.

I can't see me on these sig stats?? please can you review this. thanks.

I will add you, as I know that you added it before. Seems like your signature slipped through. Even though I wish you would make it more beautiful. I know the life as a "newbie" rank member is hard here.  Cheesy

Tomorrow you will find yourself on this list for week 2.

thanks very much I am following this project keenly. I am actually a hero member but they hacked my account. theymos is hopefully going to give it back to me soon.

another question is i don't have any facebook or social media since my gf deleted it all and changed the emails. Can i get credits for getting other people to give facebook likes and messaging you?

Sorry to hear that. Wish you the best!

You can't get bounty stakes for other people you convinced to like/follow Lisk. Sorry. Smiley

LiskHQ

I am reading Whitepaper and Developing section (https://lisk.io/documentation?i=lisk-dapps-docs/README) now.
But I don't find a way to prevent dapps from change by owner.

As example: someone created list-btc exchange dapp. Customers inspect the source of dapp and
don't find something worried. Code is clear and safe. They send funds (lisk, btc) to dapp.

Can dapps owner change the dapp code and steal the funds?
What will happen with the funds If the dapp stops working?
Are there some way to prevent dapp from change by owner?
Can I create a trustful dapp secured by mainchain?

By tomorrow I have updated the whitepaper. Smiley

"Dapp owners": Is the person who developed the decentralized application and I presume he also has at least 1 master node running. (WRITE/READ)

"Dapp master node": One of maximum 101 sidechain forgers. (WRITE/READ)

"Dapp user": Regular user who is simply running the dapp. (READ-only)

Let's say in our scenario there are 101 sidechain master nodes, this is the best case and equals Lisk itself. There are now different scenarios.

Dapp owner changes the source code on e.g. GitHub: This can be seen as a regular update for the dapp, either soft or hard fork. Similar to an update for crypto-currencies. The network itself isn't affected as long as nodes don't update.

Dapp owner/any master node owner changes only the source code on his own master node: Here it matters where he made the changes. If the changes are in non-critical areas (I can't define the critical areas in general, e.g. a critical area is block generation, a non-critical is frontend) nothing happens and he can still participate as a sidechain forger. However, if a critical area is affected his generated blocks won't be accepted by the sidechain and he will land on a fork. The whole network won't fork here, only his own node.

Many master nodes update to latest hard fork version:

x nodes: There will be two networks active. One on the majority and one on the minority of the master nodes. Users will have to choose which fork they chose.

nearly all nodes: A huge majority inherently decides which fork is the "main" path. Therefore this can be seen as a hard fork which may occur with regular updates. (e.g. at Bitcoin the increase of Block size)

Many individual dapp users change their dapp: Nothing happens to the network itself, because these users don't generate new sidechain blocks.

So, in conclusion this is exactly the same behaviour as in crypto-currencies like Bitcoin or Nxt. If a dapp owner wants to introduce new features he should do it with milestones, that means at a certain blockchain height the new feature will be activated. This way the master nodes have a certain timeframe to switch to the update (or may decide against it).

What is your use of proceeds plan? if you raise 500 or 1000 or 1000 BTC's worth. what is the plan post ICO. I dont see much but a web site, blog-posts and forum talks. Please show some concrete road maps. doesn't seem serious without it.

Here you can find our roadmap.

https://blog.lisk.io/the-lisk-roadmap-9e854719e792

Thanks.. but this isn't what I meant:

use of proceeds mean what will you do with the raised funds. this means that if you assume for example raising $1M worth or $0.5M worth etc. that you publish the following:

your hiring plans- ie additional developers, foundation? marketing, management, G&A, etc.
your marketing and communication strategies
how long will money last? you want to compete with Ethereum - than you have to learn from their very advanced business sense as well. they couldnt advance as much without real world business infrastructure.

Don't worry, once we know the amount we collect, we will work on exact and detailed plans. This is a gigantic task which takes several dozens hours. It doesn't make sense to do them now for every possible amount. There is much other work to do. Smiley

Thank you for your patience.

with respect: "This is a gigantic task which takes several dozens hours". Huh?? since when 50 hours are a gigantic amount of hours? it is a minimum effort if you are asking for "few hundreds of BTC". what will you do with it? how will you manage it? if i am ready (for example) to invest (speculate) and give you and your partner 50BTC worth some $20k. Isn't it worth it to show me/assure me in advance that you can/are actually thinking about these things PRIOR to an ICO? dont you think it will show more savvy and seriousness?

I do.

You can assume raising your goal of say $1M and create a proposed plan based on it. you dont need 5000 scenarios.

Good lack.

I know where you are coming from and can completely understand it. However, the amount we can raise decides if Lisk becomes a company, or not. A limited in the UK or a foundation in Germany. If I move to London or stay in Germany. It also decides how many employees we can have and in what speed we can develop. How many marketing packages we can buy and what type of partners we can approach.

These are only a fraction of the variables. There is too much unknown to make a specific report which 100% needs to be re-done later on. I'm not the type to promise the sky and deliver nothing. I do it the other way around, I build things consistently bigger. Smiley

how BTC do you exept for your project ?

What do you mean?

i mean the founds you need for the project ,and also i have read the OP and it seems you make a comparaison with ETH but imo its not comparable , how can you compare your project with a multi million already invested in ETH and with hundreds of developers involded in it ?
i just wondering how LISK can be successfull with only 2 peoples?

Ethereum, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Google.. They all started with 1 or 2 persons who had an idea. It's natural that a project starts with only a few people. We exist since 19 days and already have hundreds of Twitter followers, Facebook likes, Bitcointalk posts and chat users. It's a process and takes some time. Wink

waxo: Please check our signature.. There is an error. Smiley

email subscription on the website doesnt work ?

Do you have AdBlocker or Ghostery active?
1111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 18, 2016, 08:52:41 PM
So 85 million coins will be sold in the ico.

When i invest 1 btc and some other person also 1 btc, that will mean that i will get 42.5 Million Lisk and the other Person also 42.5 Million Lisk, right?

Or in other words, when i invest 1000 btc and the other person 1 btc i will get 84.915 Million Lisk? Or is there a limit to invest?

There won't be a fixed limit which can be announced before. If we see after the ICO that an individual would end up with over 20% of all LISK, we will contact him and explain the case to him in private. We (or our escrow partner) will then transfer him the excessive BTC back. However, to be over 20% one would probably need to exchange over 100 BTC minimum. Smiley

Thanks! It's an honour for me to be mentioned in the same sentence as Vitalik, can I save that comment?  Grin

Intriguing. I'll keep my eyes on this the coming days. What's with that LISK sig btw  Huh
Quote
You can insert the Lisk signature into your Bitcointalk signature and later on earn a bounty for that.
why no list of participants signatures Lisk, so we could see our username participated to this campaign
piebeyb,I agree with you, would like to ask the same question.

I agree. We can show the Bitcointalk signatures because there is no conflict of privacy in this case.

Click here: https://drive.google.com/a/lisk.io/file/d/0B7DjyOJhmpJkNDdxckYtaXpfSXM/view

If you are not on the list then please note that there are only the names for week 1 and 2 listed. Many of you came after that and you will be on the list next week.
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 18, 2016, 06:56:43 PM
How much money are you hoping to raise Huh

I don't want to give any concrete number, as I will always be wrong here. But we are easily looking for several hundred BTC.

Is there a minimum BTC quantity you need to rise to consider the project a success, and there's quantity of btc where less you won't keep working with this project?

The success won't be determined by how much we can collect, but where we are in 12 months. Regarding your second question, no there isn't. We will keep pushing forward. Smiley

Hey Lisk Team some questions if you dont mind,

cause i pref to be good informed before i make a investment

I heared you all worked for the Crypti team and choose another way  after the plain version was done (out of diffrent opinion where crypti should be heading) right ?

Or is this more like a restart of crypti with a new funding to make it better and more solid ?

After Lisk is done , just like crypti will you keep working on Lisk , with for example building Dapps work on community projects ?
cause the way crypti is beeing left now make me worried a little for future case.

Good luck devs, hope to hear some response

Hey Mrboot, don't worry. It's a good question. Smiley

Yes, we left Crypti because we weren't happy with the progress being made and the direction some people wanted to take. Olivier and I are both hard workers, who want to push the platform further. We don't want to rely on another platform like Bitcoin, we want to build our own one. Wink

Lisk is software. It can always get more features or become better. I'm very sure that there will never be a moment at which we think "Lisk is done".

Once Lisk is at a point at which it goes swimmingly, has a great feature-set, many dapp libraries and the most easiest client in the whole crypto-scene, we want to make our own decentralized applications. Personally, I want to get deeper into the blockchain-based Internet of Things area.

My ultimate long-term goal is to build an awesome dapp platform, for which I can develop dapps myself for many years.

That means you can be sure that we both support Lisk for a long time. If you have the time, just head to https://lisk.chat/ and have a quick chat with me. Smiley

Is it a ethereum fork?

No. Smiley
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 18, 2016, 09:14:42 AM
how does facebook and twitter stake work? Will you send a PM asking for address when you've the coin to whom have liked and followed you?

Yes, we will contact the social network profiles individually.

Will be ICO distribution limited somehow?
example: user can buy limited ammount of LISK from
one IP or something similar ?

Why I asking this?

What if some BTC whale decide to jump first
and buy LISK for, example, 500 BTC ?

That mean he can own half of total supply and
that can be really bad. LISK can become centralized and
holded by just few peoples.

Hope you understand what I want to say.  Smiley

I don't know how we could control that. Everyone could attend with a proxy and another email address, we wouldn't know it.

If we see that someone will hold more than 20% of all LISK I will discuss it with Olivier and come up with a solution. But I don't see this happening right now.

What will be the total number of lisk in existence?
Bitcoin's max is 21 million.
I am still researching the total amount of Ethereums that will exist.

Please take a look at our comparison chart, FAQ or distribution table.

Such low-cost computers can be used because Lisk blockchain nodes are cooperative and therefore efficient, instead of competitive and therefore highly inefficient like Bitcoin and Etherium miners.

That's an awesome quote! I will keep it. Smiley

Hey out there

reading the [ANN]ICO, i'm so interested in joining this wonderful promising journey to the world of NodeJS Dapps. By saying "22nd February: The Lisk ICO begins." they mean they will release the exchange wizard to the public on their website or do I have to get a private invite to have access to it? They elsewhere wrote to get in touch with them joining the ico is by mail, so to get the btc wallet adress and further personal information on the later exchange. Appreciate any help to let some BTC's support such a great innovation like lisk. Keep up the great work folks.

tobsnn

The website on which the ICO happens will be put online at the 22nd February. Everyone has access to it and can exchange their coins. (Already answered you on Facebook as well. Smiley )

Hello guys! Sorry, but can someone says - what is new in the LISK ?

And what a difference from another coins/ tokens ?

Thanks.

Lisk allows every JavaScript developer to deploy a custom blockchain alias sidechain, and develop a decentralized application on top of it. The best; it's already working!

The only other crypto-currency which can do similar things is Ethereum, valued at over $300,000,000. However, Lisk has a great client, Dapp Store and a system which scales better. Additionally the fact that you can develop the dapps in JavaScript is a huge asset, because there are so damn many of them. Smiley

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

Updated OP

I just updated the opening post here on Bitcointalk.

- Changed the colors and images.
- Added information about Olivier and I.
- Added more thread translations, news and announcements.
- Edited the opening letter.
- Added Lisk Academy.
- Added a Lisk <-> Ethereum comparison.
- And a few more fixes and additions.
