I added the signature, but asking us to pm you that we added the signature might be better than asking us to post in the thread.

Giveaway threads on bitcointalk are banned, and so is giving people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. The moderators might lock this thread, ban the OP and other people for making insubstantial posts in it.

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.

There is a rule banning zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts.

*snip*

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

*snip*

Examples:

1. Such posts like "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.

*snip*

These identical posts all look like they could be considered insubstantial by the moderators to me.

Agree. This is a good point even if it creates much more work for me! I will change it in the OP!

From now on, if you insert our text into your signature, please send us a notification about this via PM!

Thank you.

Added this to the OP:

Quote
Signature Campaign — 200,000 LISK

Add our official signatures from our Bitcointalk OP to your Bitcointalk profile and receive a stake every week! This way many more crypto-currency enthusiasts will get in contact with Lisk.

In order to make a weekly list of all Bitcointalk users with our signature, they need to send a private message to this account (LiskHQ) at least once. Once a week we go through all the private messages and write down all usernames with our signature. If you have already posted into the Bitcointalk OP once you don't need to send us a PM anymore!

Sure that might help.  Grin

Hehe, great. Give me an hour, I'm currently preparing a few other things. Smiley
1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 20, 2016, 06:36:20 PM
OK looking forward to it, thanks.

I am quite new to the crypto scene so I am learning a bit about how it all works so I am probably showing my ignorance. However, I feel there is an investment opportunity here.

Don't worry. Smiley

There are many articles about the different consensus algorithms. If you have any specific questions you can also come to https://lisk.chat/ and ask me directly there. Wink

Edit:

Not sure I understand you correctly, you want me to list advantages vs. disadvantages? Smiley
1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: How To Correctly Value Lisk on: February 20, 2016, 06:26:43 PM
What is the significance of 101 DPos forgers?  Can there be more/less?  101 max?

Right now there is a maximum of 101 delegates. If there will be a huge demand and much stress on the network, this number can be increased. However, this is not planned for now. BitShares shows that this system is both decentralized and freaking fast with 101 delegates. Smiley

I have spent some time in this thread. The delegate thing is weighing on me a bit. I fully understand how delegates work in a political sense but I was wondering if this process can be drawn out better and what purpose it serves? I think I know but I'd like to hear from the team on this. All and all I am very interested in this project. Checking out the ICO articles I'm not exactly sure on the bitcoin conversion to LISK price. Maybe I need more coffee.  Wink

Good luck and will be following along.

What exactly do you want to know about DPoS and delegates? The advantages/disadvantages to Proof-of-Work?

There will be another blog post soon, which might explain some missing things about the ICO. Once you saw the guide tomorrow evening, everything will be very clear. Smiley

Hello Lisk

My question: How can I mine this coin? Sorry, I'm not familiar whit Crypti, sorry  Roll Eyes

Thanks

Hello s0nix,

Lisk is a Delegated Proof of Stake crypto-currency. That means you can't mine. You will have to register a delegate account and get enough votes to become a top 101 delegate.

Then you can activate forging and will earn 5 LISK per forged blocks (about every 17 minutes) + the network fees.

Read more here: https://blog.crypti.me/introduction-to-dpos/

During the ICO we will work on a complete Delegate Handbook, which covers all topics you need to know. Wink

Hello LiskHQ,
thanks for your answer.

This is a very interesting system.

If I have understood correctly, to register for a delegated account or simple to send Lisk I can use all clients.
But to become a delegate and forging blocks, I have to install and use the full client... is that correct?

Thanks

Yes. Smiley

Everyone, the white paper will be updated next week so we can fully concentrate on the ICO this weekend.

I'm  on my phone so can't do the quotes.  But I urge you to think twice about posting an ETH number right beside a double-counting BTC number that also contains it - and if it DOESN'T contain it, then you are not displaying all of the various ETH/BTC conversion factors that will come into play over the month of the ICO.

Plus, I note that how many ETH that get displayed says nothing about the "number of people" who have converted ETH for Lisk.

Comparisons between Lisk and ETH are extremely relevant on a technical level and totally irrelevant on an ICO level.  On an ICO level, only 5 numbers matter - the XCR number and the four BTC bonus numbers.  I urge you to display these 5 relevant numbers on lisk.io and not an irrelevant ETH one.

You are correct. Our thoughts were artefacts of the system we wanted to do before we got into a partnership with ShapeShift. Now that we are using ShapeShift we will adapt to your idea. However to keep it simple, we will simply show BTC and XCR. Smiley

Thank you! Much appreciated.

Where and how do I purchase LISK on the 22nd of February?

Please keep it simple so I can easily relay this information to individuals that are financial experts in investments but in cryptocurrency.

Thanks in advance.

You will be able to purchase LISK on a special site we setup. It will be very easy, we promise! Smiley

Please keep your eyes open on our blog this evening (in about 8 hours). We will post many more information there.
1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 20, 2016, 01:25:28 PM
Are you saying you are accepting ETH directly in addition to ETH through Shapeshift?  If so, I've still got some serious work to do on those spreadsheets...

No. I mean we want to show how many people exchange/convert ETH through ShapeShift. Smiley

We will post a few more blog posts this evening regarding the ICO. Stay tuned!  Cool
1089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 20, 2016, 01:16:32 PM
Lisk Academy

I already announced this effort but I just published the blog post with 3 videos (more added once done). The Lisk Academy tries to lower the entrance barrier for new users by explaining several topics. For example how to install the Lisk client or how to start developing Dapps.

We will add 2-3 new videos a week. We will try to raise the quality step-by-step, right now they are mostly short ones which are simply practical.

To the Lisk Academy

So can you change the lisk.io scoreboard to drop ETH and instead show 4 different BTC numbers, one for each bonus level?

We want to specifically show these three currencies (BTC, ETH and XCR). After each bonus level i.e. every week, we will post a report with the numbers.
1090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 20, 2016, 12:59:12 PM
Careful, Max.  The price of one Lisk in BTC is not calculated only by BTC donated.  You have to adjust for bonuses and XCR.  You want to use the dark orange "equiv" BTC on my spreadsheet, not the dark green BTC donated, in your formula above.

Yes, this is obvious. Sorry for the misunderstanding. In my very simplified calculation the XCR are already taken care off as 1300 satoshi per XCR, and the bonus as well.

I changed the post to make it a bit more clear.
1091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: February 20, 2016, 12:18:08 PM
Hello!

I can translate the Spanish, does it still available?

Sorry, no. The spanish translation was already done. Smiley

Will there be a ticker widget showing the amount of bitcoins, crypti, etc invested in the ICO? It would help us estimate what proportion of the coins each of us will be buying. Some ICOs get far more money spent on them than anyone expects, and it's nice if a widget quickly lets you know you need to spend more money to get the proportion of the coins you want.

You will be able to go to https://lisk.io/ and see the total amount collected there in real time:

So what is going to be the final cap after ico?

how much is one lisk?

proud to be part of lisk start :-)

Mrboot already answered this. We collect the crypto-currencies and distribute a fixed 85,000,000 LISK at the end. That means depending on how much BTC we collect, the price of 1 LISK can be calculated only at the end of the ICO with:

(BTC sum) / 100,000,000 LISK = Price of 1 LISK in BTC (some may argue we have to use 85,000,000 here).

Edit:

Changed "BTC collected" to "BTC sum", to reflect that it's not the absolute number, but rather the one including bonuses and XCR.

BTC sum: consists of 1300 satoshi per XCR, the total amount collected in BTC and the different bonuses.

I Heard that you are going to dump all ETH you get immediatly in the market ?

We won't dump them, because we will never hold a single ETH. We are using ShapeShift to accept many different altcoins, their platform allows the direct conversion into Bitcoin.

Just so there is no confusion, at what time UTC Feb 22 using a 24 hour clock are you starting the Lisk ICO ?

I want to try for First Lisk Donation.   Grin

Hmmm.....maybe that should be worth a prize or bonus?

Please refer to our countdown on our website. Smiley

https://lisk.io

Please wait for our blog post with more information. Sorry that I have to let you wait.

You may need to adjust your clock slightly.  Consider this image:

Is your local time set correctly? For me everything is working correctly to the second.

I think it would be good idea to give some shoutout in r/ethtrader People from Ethereum are looking for new opportunities to invest so we shall let them know about LISK. They are interested in such currencies and there was some discussion about LISK but lot of misinformation. If you are active Reddit used write there now.

I believe that the Ethereum community is a good opportunity for investors, just to say here if your a active Reddit user to write there now isn't really smart, mostly those things are counter effective maybe one post can be fine just spamming annoy people and really is not the way to make any promotion then it looks like the coin is hyped and that should never be the way! So please be careful to not over spam Reddit etc, some post should be oke though Wink

Hey but that's just my opinion Wink , ethereum did the same and only went down for long, eventually it came all right for them though I think lisk can have the same, and I have some awesome ideas for dapps learning how to code now but if there is any programmer here who wanna have a partner with idee's send me a personal message.

And now it's time for a nice weekend any persons from the Netherlands around ?

Good idea. Many over there often bash innovations and everything what might be dangerous to them. Wink

Therefore I will only answer questions. They should have heard of Lisk by now. And during the next four weeks they will only hear more and more about Lisk.  Cool

Say, what is the Lisk coin design icon to go on http://coinmarketcap.com/?

Can you please put a link to the media image package in the original post?

I couldn't find a signature in the OP so I'm using one I copied from someone else.

Similarly, I couldn't find a link to the Lisk coin design icon in the OP, but i found a whole page fullof them in the Github.

https://github.com/LiskHQ/lisk-ui/tree/development/images

Would this image be appropriate for use on coinmarketcap? It's roughly the same size as the other design icons used for other coins on it.

The Signature is in the OP. For CoinMarketCap we specifically made a small icon. Here it is.

Edit: Seems like it is the same you linked. Your linked image didn't load for me before. Smiley

The first image URL I used was from Github and it didn't load on bitcointalk. I had to download it, then upload it to an image upload service to get a URL that worked. Bitcointalk doesn't like Github image links, which is strange as the whole forum's about crypto software.

https://github.com/LiskHQ/lisk-ui/blob/development/images/favicon-16x16.png

You can always use the one I linked. It's the correct one and I will never delete it from my server. Wink

I think he means the Monday when the ICO starts. Smiley

Oke so maybe i got Dpos wrong so all lisk owners can vote for delegates and how will this be processed ? do you might know a good post to read about it, cause i know a lot about coins , just never dealed with a Dpos coin yet to be honest.

Take a look here.

Thx appreciate it ! Now i understand Dpos its actually not that hard just never been into a Dpos coin before.

All Dutch translations already taken care of ?

You could take a look at this: https://github.com/LiskHQ/lisk-ui/blob/development/po/nl_NL.po Smiley

Everything else should be work-in-progress. Will keep you posted.
