Quote
UTokens are issued by “UToken Reserve Limited” a group of established international body representative from the Internet Technology, Business, Banking, Investors and Networking Industries.

Run as far as you can!!

I tried to get this particular friend into Bitcoin, fast forward a couple of months and he found UToken and has already put $1,000+ into it.
I hope he is joking!
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / UToken and UFUN on: April 07, 2015, 11:40:39 AM
So I have some friends and relatives that want to get into UToken.
I'm 110% sure this thing is a terrible scam.

Instead of just a bunch of troll posts, does anyone want to deconstruct it and present some valid points as to why this thing is a scam?

Anyone here from Asia? Ever heard of this UToken?

243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 05, 2015, 12:13:27 PM
holy shit, at least volume is high  Undecided

rebounce soon? i personally do not expect a longer downturn, but thats just me. sentiment turned very fast the last 2 days..

Sentiment always turns fast during a bubble.

Look, Monero increased due to what news?

Nothing.

When the first rise happened I thought it would be a healthy up turn as I generally regard Monero as a strong coin.
But when it started to spike quickly, I knew what this was another worthless pump and dump.

What a bore, same old same old.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 05, 2015, 11:57:47 AM
Bought at .0038, put a sell in at .0046. Missed it by that much. Is this the start of another multi-month decline or a blip? Thank you for your valuable insight.

I'd say multi-month decline. What I have found with Monero is that too many people don't actually care about the technology and only want profits.

I'd expect prices close to 0.0038 around August if the past performance of this coin is any indicator.
Also the bottom will most certainly be below 0.002, even I have sold a few coins because I will certainly pick them up cheaper in a couple of days.
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 05, 2015, 01:41:34 AM
Now you know Monero's dirtiest little secret - you're all prancing and hopping behind a lunatic.   Cry

Great, now the FUD is back.

So tiring and immature.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 04, 2015, 08:41:14 PM
are we guys watching the same graph?

I was the guy pissing on the parade at <0.004 but I assumed it would drop much faster.

If it stays over 0.0032 or 0.003 a shit is broken

How low do you think it's going to go?
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Tired of Waiting... on: April 04, 2015, 08:40:19 PM
I've never had to wait an hour to send a transaction. A lot of services accept a single confirmation, which usually takes 5 min. That's not a high price to pay for not writing your name and address all over the transfer.
And people are still using vultures like Paypal...

That's not true at all, darling. It seems that every time I have an important transfer there's a 1 hour Bitcoin block! If yours 'usually takes 5 min' you are the exception and not the rule.

It takes exactly 10 minutes on average, sometimes it can be much faster or slower.  That's Bitcoin 101 folks.

Actually this is incorrect.

If the difficulty did not change at all in the retarget period, then you're correct. 10 minutes.

Historically the difficulty has always increased, therefore the average block time is less than 10 minutes.

I think we'll be waiting several years before 10 minutes is the average.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 04, 2015, 08:36:23 PM
Looks like that was the peak for now, until next time!

If this does crash below 0.003 it'll probably take a few months to reignite the fire.
This shows Monero can still get some action.

Good run people!
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was Bitcoin shut down for 8 hours? on: April 04, 2015, 08:33:08 PM
No, this is not possible and it did not take place. This is just another nerd searching for attention, twitter followers etc.

No. Theoretically, shutting down the Bitcoin network is possible. It's just that he got confused between bitcointalk.org (which was down for 10 hours, at least for me) and the whole Bitcoin network.

I actually wonder if Patio11 is talking about the March 2013 fork? This lasted 6 hours and the fix was coordinated via IRC.
I remember this fork, but don't remember it as Bitcoin being shut down.

As I recall, everyone was told not to make any transactions due to the fork in progress, so I guess it was a shut down of sorts.
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was Bitcoin shut down for 8 hours? on: April 04, 2015, 10:54:12 AM
I'm hoping someone around when this happened could perhaps chime in and offer a defense?

If there is a defense, then perhaps publically reply to Patio11?
251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Tired of Waiting... on: April 04, 2015, 10:51:28 AM
Dont expect honest answers from BTC shills. Transaction times are a big FAIL for BTC.

Most probably an alternative will takeover its marketcap in the future

Monero has a shorter confirmation time, but that still isn't enough.

We need a confirmation time on the order of seconds.

How can this be achieved without creating a ridiculously sized blockchain and overcoming the problem of orphan blocks?
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Was Bitcoin shut down for 8 hours? on: April 04, 2015, 10:44:43 AM
Is there any truth to this tweet?
https://twitter.com/patio11/status/583701441866371073

Patio11 is generally well respected and even though I have been in Bitcoin for a long time, I never heard of this 8 hour shutdown.

His tweets are getting lots of coverage right now.

253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 04, 2015, 01:56:17 AM
Looks like a giant sell off, perhaps this denotes that the peak has past.

For now...
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 02:28:30 PM
If any alt reaches about 10-20% of Bitcoin's marketcap, Bitcoin is doomed in such a great probability that I'll sell mine (in favor of the alt).

Wasn't Litecoin at it's peak about $1 billion vs Bitcoin at the time around $10 billion?
Now look at Litecoin...
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 31, 2015, 01:58:18 PM
what do you guys think will happen to xmr price IF bitcoin goes to say $150? Would that make xmr go higher or lower? Or no correlation?

I have found that the price of Monero relative to Bitcoin decreases initially on any Bitcoin down swing.

We haven't really had Monero during a true Bitcoin up swing so who knows.
When Bitcoin hit $1,000+ Litecoin took a while to truly catch up, and when it did, $45!

That's $45 for coin 4 times less scarce and more useless than Monero.

If Monero has the database and GUI work partially integrated into the main client by the time Bitcoin has a true $1,000, $2,000 up swing, we could see Monero going crazy.

I know you asked about Bitcoin going down, but I just feel like being more optimistic.

I think that any Bitcoin decrease will not be a good thing for Monero (unless Monero is the reason for the decrease, however that's unlikely to ever happen....)

How long until $10 Monero?
257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any bitcoin-turned-millionaires here? on: March 23, 2015, 01:45:03 PM
Most active accounts that have been around and active since 2010 and 2011 probably have made a million or two from Bitcoin.

Most active accounts? I guess I did something wrong then. I had many bitcoins at some point, but I spent a lot of them & lost some of them. Many others bought stuff and made some bad decisions too.

However I was almost broke when I started using Bitcoin and made a decent amount of money in this rollercoaster.

I think a lot of people sold too soon or got scammed.
I got into Bitcoin around $10 but lost most of it on scams...
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 21, 2015, 06:57:55 AM
Is there a reason for the current growth in price?

The price started to move with the release of the LTB episode a few days ago.  I think it is safe to say that more bitcoiners listen to that show than spend time mulling around in the altcoin section.  Furthermore, there have been continual reports since Darkcoin started last year of people who would buy in if the name wasn't so shady.  And well... the official rebranding date is March 25th.

Thanks, that makes sense. More exposure and a less shady name.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 21, 2015, 06:57:02 AM
Masternode blinding and other improvements will prevent spying.
Unlike monero, Darkcoin/DASH Devs are hard at work implementing game changing new features and constantly improving them.

My understanding is that the Monero developers have been hard at work making the fundamentals of the currency secure and reliable, something that a lot of people want.
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any bitcoin-turned-millionaires here? on: March 21, 2015, 06:54:53 AM
As the title says, just interested, are there people on the forums who became millionaires due to BTC alone?

Most active accounts that have been around and active since 2010 and 2011 probably have made a million or two from Bitcoin.
