There is already a speculation thread

Opps I couldn't find it.
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero the new DarkCoin? on: May 23, 2014, 06:37:16 PM
Just another shit coin with no real use besides trading.

Bitcoin had no use for a long time either.

Monero leads CryptoNote tech and is a market leader, it'll soon have a very good GUI wallet and will become a standard choice for people that want real anon without the countless attack surfaces of other competing coins.

Bitcoin was the 1st and is the most widely adopted. It will be number 1 for a very long time.

Yeah sorry if you read my posts I always say we are fighting for spot number 2 or 3 (Ethereum will probably take slot 2).

Although that post I wrote in your quotes does make it seem like I meant that one of the anon coins will challenge Bitcoin, which is not what I wanted to imply.

Bitcoin will not be challenged of that I am 99.9% certain, and if it is challenged it'll be from something we did not expect, a new paradigm of CryptoCurrency perhaps.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero the new DarkCoin? on: May 23, 2014, 06:35:06 PM
Cryptonote clones will pop up very frequently wait and see.

No doubt, but the early days always establishes a leader.

As that leader gains more hashrate and more value, more developers flock to it and it's ecosystem will gain ground.

In a year there will be three main coins on the market.

- Bitcoin.

- Ethereum.

- An anon coin with dedicated anon blockchain.

Each of the three will have a million clones, but the next few months may (or may not) decide the coin that will slot into the anon category.
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (MRO) Speculation thread on: May 23, 2014, 06:30:44 PM
miners are just riding the anon dick now, it's the new craze...

Anon is important, it's always been a major turn off in regards to Bitcoin, however I firmly believe nothing will challenge Bitcoin.

So a good second coin is needed for transfer into and out of Bitcoin, this second coin will itself be the decentralised mixer Bitcoin needs.

Now we are just fighting over who will be that number 2 coin.

every coin will have anon features within a month.

The only way to make proper anon right now is CryptoNote tech, nothing is comparable today.

The anon fad will be over soon.

Anon a fad? Not sure about that, it's a very stringent requirement for many people in Crypto.

The dev of Darkcoin implemented a Much much more advanced CoinJoin than maxwell did.. You cannot compare the two. The darksend/masternode system is as anonymous as Ring Signatues.

Monero offers: Ring Signatures copied from Bytecoin

Darkcoin offers: Masternodes that act as an incentive to uphold the network AND allow anonymous payments, and Darkcoin will also have Ring Signatures and I2P in a few months. Plus, Darkcoin will be the first to do so, it's already the first to implement advanced CoinJoin tech in a coin plus it's the first coin to have the x11 algo, which is much more asic resistant than Litecoin.

Monero is a copy/clone of Bytecoin and offers nothing innovative besides stealing work from another coin(Bytecoin). This coin has no future sorry to say. Anyone who disagrees is either a huge stakeholder in monero or a troll. There's no iff's about it, Copycat clones with no innovation like Monero never go far.

As I type this..There are  other Bytecoin clone's out with Monero such as HoneyPenny, Quazarcoin, and FantomCoin, and Bytecoin which Monero was forked/cloned/copied from, what makes Monero special? Nothing.

I know you're a major Darkcoin advocate and I don't mind you being into Darkcoin, but the lies you spread are borderline fraud.

- Monero offers the Bytecoin tech without the pre-mine, also MRO developers are leading all miner and client speed improvements over Bytecoin. They really are now in the lead.

- The community agrees with this, that is why MRO hashrate is currently higher than all other CryptoNote coins combined.

- Darksend is not a good improvement, great minds in Bitcoin IRC talked about how it's not all that great. It has centralisation issues, trust issues, attack issues.

- Ring sig in Monero cannot be compared to Darkcoin, Darkcoin is mere puff in comparison.
1072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 23, 2014, 05:50:06 PM
What's the difference between monero and darkcoin?

Monero is simply a fully decentralised anonymous transaction CryptoCoin. Darkcoin requires centralised (rich get richer) nodes to perform CoinJoin anonymity.

The creator of CoinJoin (a core Bitcoin developer) has said CoinJoin is in every way inferior to Monero tech.

So simply put, Darkcoin is a weak attempt to implement an inferior technology. However it's being pumped 24 hours a day as the Bitcoin killer and the followers believe the Darkcoin lead developer to be the next Satoshi.

They actually believe Darkcoin is the final CryptoCoin. I would urge caution.

Monero, Bitcoin and even Ethereum and not the final CryptoCoin, far from it.

How many of us are waiting by CryptoTrade ready to press sell the moment Ken announces it?

1075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: May 23, 2014, 12:22:43 AM
This is what happens when vast majority of your currency is owned by a select few.

https://xrptalk.org/topic/2629-selling-my-xrp/

A single person can crash your net worth and guess what? They still make millions because they own so much.

The keyword of the day is: "trustless"

Once you understand what that means, and how it applies to currency distribution, you might realize why monero exists.

1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 22, 2014, 07:11:30 PM
BTC started the experminet, and DRK is as close to a finalized solution that the crypto community has thus far spawned. With a dev that keeps moving along with the moving target, DRK has, by far, the best chance to become the final product that the BTC experiment was meant to catalyze.

Wait, are you saying that a closed source, instamined, Bitcoin clone with a questionable CoinJoin implementation is going to be the conclusion to the genius of Satoshi?

Even the inventor of CoinJoin said that Darkcoin is old news compared to Bytecoin/Monero.

But it's this alternative coin, of all the others, that will be the final conclusion to Satoshi's CryptoCoin idea?

Have you even looked into ideas like Ethereum? Ideas that actually have a chance to challenge Bitcoin?

Some of the posts in this thread are devoid of any reality.

Yeah guys, this is it. The final conclusion is here.

For this tech you really need some mathematicians and cryptographers to create the algorithms that your programmers implement.

Is this the case here XC developers? Or are you going to create anon by hacking together some code? Please tell me your main release will be a white paper on your breakthrough?
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] -POW & 3.33% POS - no IPO| 3 Exchanges | Anonymous Wallet Coming Soon on: May 22, 2014, 06:41:07 PM
Not sure if this will happen, but if XC actually has a new way of doing anon without the flawed masternode idea, then it'll become a worthy coin for sure.

Good luck, I look forward to reading the code and possibly whitepaper if one is released.

What exactly is flawed about DRK's masternode idea?  I have not been following it closely.  Thanks in advance

Darkcoin's MasterNode has two issues that work in tandem to be a cause for concern; the nodes can be targeted for DDOS and it's possible for a bad actor to be a node.

If the good nodes are attacked the flow of traffic will increase towards bad actors.

What needs to be researched is the cost of the attack and what outcome do you want? For example attacking X amount of MasterNode with intent to devalue DarkCoin by showing it's weakness is easier than using that attack to unveil transactions.

Remember there are always different reasons why someone would attack DarkCoin. I'd imagine early attacks being proof of concept to warn people away from the technology.

Even the creator of CoinJoin (DarkCoin's fundamental tech) has said that the technology in Monero is superior in everyway, he doesn't understand why DarkCoin is where it is.

Take that for what it's worth.

Monero only has Ring Signatures going for it, which has terrible issues such as bloating and scaling

That is all Monero needs, a little bloat and scaling issues for now are a side effect of having a proper anonymous network.

Darkcoin can have both bad actors and the masternodes can be DDOS'd at any time forcing traffic to a bad actor.

Monero is the peoples anonymous coin.
