261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Economy on: June 17, 2014, 02:53:31 AM
The economy could use some work but that can be said about any coin I'd say.  All I know is I wish I had bought on the last dip.  Just like any other coin timing is everything!

Until proven otherwise you should assume you have no timing edge and just use dollar cost averaging to buy in.  It works.

That would work, to a certain extent but I prefer to actively manage my portfolio and increase in btc and usd valuation, while aiming to hold a good amount of xmr over time.

Ignore troll, move on...awesome coin here.

Any ideas why the DDOS attacks are so fierce? This little "nobody" of a coin is suddenly catching the attention of the Crypto world and might be a threat to DRK, etc.
It is not cheap to constantly do DDOS attacks. Perhaps it is from the same bots that are mining it, but any plans for a P2P miner?
Lastly, the huge volume is intense. 480 BTC traded on Poloniex, interesting...
Someone is taking notice.
It's pool wars.

I don't think it's pool war. No point on getting all the hashing on a single pool.

I am more for the Darkcoin suckers option.

I could also be professional miners that want to lower the diff while putting down competitors.

Don't forget the NVIDIA miners...cbuchner1 has a really powerful gpu miner and is on Monero.

I bought on teh dip (below 2 mBTC) but should have bought more Tongue

Anyway, I really hope that in a few months time, a TSR-like website will accept XMR Wink

It's a must, imho. Auction style, a la Ebay, or something like SR.

Folks, quick question: is there a workaround to the transaction size thing? Where do I specify the fee I want to pay to send coins using the Gui wallet?
Thanks in advance.

Getting a strange error, hope someone can chime in  Undecided

Started happening after upgrading to the new wallet version *Win 8 64

DDOS thing made that disappear quick...anyone?

Just a bug in the program from compiling. A guy named Tom compiled it, guessing you're using one of the binaries?

It's nothing to worry about. If it bugs you, restart the daemon and it might make it appear a little less often.

His problem is that it isn't starting:)

ivanlabrie - delete your p2pstate.bin file, I believe on Windows it is in %AppData%/bitmonero

Thanks a lot!

i don't have a billion dollar idea, but the market is leaving VTC alone.  Undecided

While coins evolve VTC is silent and only accepting the natural force. They are not coming up with innovations, they simply try to repeat what other already have done.

When i am talking about PR they have to convince investors Why scrypt-n is still up to date and why they don't switch to X11 (for example)

many miner complain that vtc is not profitable to mine!

I am tired of hearing "the dev is working and there is no time sitting in the forum all the day". Guys are you naive?

It is not much work keeping up a solid PR every 2-3 weeks, instead they barely communicate anything.

Yup, just look at the price..."We're not concerned with the price"

Then who will secure the blockchain if it's not profitable to mine?

Jus' sayin'...

it would be most likely possible but then i dont know how many people would want to buy it lmao

Launch it with an ipo, and some pretext for a coin...doesn't have to be called cudacoin but something cooler.

I took your "maths" and applied it to btc-e btc/USD.

I got a "average" of $399. That is pretty bearish. I have liquidated all my btc as it is only worth $399, it is $150 more right now. I'm going to make a killing with this new fancy calculations.....

  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It will not necessarily go as low as that, but when market sentiment is bullish the average price is close to the current price or even above it and usually after that the price starts rising. That's what I noticed anyway from observing order books, take it with a grain of salt.

<- This guy here: makes a killing trading...lol.

Orderbook, seriously???

Price action is what matters, you calculate pivot, support and resistance out of open, high, low and close prices at any given timeframe.
Go learn some trading before spreading fud, thank you.

@qora: amazing, glad to see progress.  Cool

Interesting...seems like 290s and other 4gb cards will mine this thing faster...saw a guy with a 4gb 270x get 300h/s today. Not bad!
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore MRO/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v2.0 on: June 14, 2014, 09:16:23 PM
Ah, well, that's surprising. Still rather low, most cpus beat that (modern ones at least)
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore MRO/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v2.0 on: June 14, 2014, 08:46:36 PM
I tested the miner with the following cards and got these results:
HD6970=110 H/s
HD6950=110 H/s

@880core/1250mem

So, it works on the 69xx's series ok and it should work on the 58xx's/5970 fine.

2gb card...58xx are 1gb.

Maybe someone wants some cheap BBR before it goes boom? Wink

...and the sell order's gone Wink

at 0.00095 these weren't cheap.  Someone has > 45000 BBR in his wallet.
And  only about 336657 coins have been mined so far.

So that sell order was for 13.3% of all BBR coins in existence !!!

Christian

Must have been the dev and his premine...does it have one? (hidden premines are commonplace)
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: June 14, 2014, 06:01:40 PM
Another monero holder here...mining at 495h/s with a 290, 280h/s with my i7 3820 and 100h/s with an i5 in a different mining rig. (2 cores)

Despite the massive botnet dumping, and the C Hash factory monero has room to grow, what do you think about that eh? :p
278  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Qt Bitcoin Trader [Open Source secure trading client for Mac/Windows/Linux] on: June 12, 2014, 06:22:21 PM
I meant to say: I want to use this application with alt coin pairs, which exchanges can I work with using it?

Currently supported this exchanges: Bitfinex, BTC-e, Bitstamp and BTC China.
Soon I'll add more exchanges.

Ok, that answers my question. Thanks Wink
