1581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't cryptocurrencies successful as a medium of payment on: August 09, 2018, 11:33:28 PM
The global economy is nearly 80 trillion USD per year.  Payments using any type of cryptocurrency as a medium of payment is a tiny fraction of this total.

What are some of the reasons preventing cryptocurrency from being more successful as a medium of payment?
Probably, the problem is the market volatility of cryptocurrencies. Fiat as a medium is having a stable market value which us an important aspect in order to promote equality. So since the market value of most cryptos are lacking stability, making it a medium of payment won't be as effective as the functionality of usd and other regular currencies.
1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it good strategy to buy tokens at low price directly after ICO? on: August 09, 2018, 11:03:07 PM
Hello
You know that most of ICOs lose their token price directly after token distribution. Sometimes it happens through bounty hunters, sometimes for other reasons... So the question is as follows: Is it good strategy to buy tokens at low price directly after ICO?
It is really a practical way but be awared that not all newly listed tokens would be a profitable investment since not all tokens are having price increase for a long run. if a coin is promising, doing such thing is a wise idea but if it is not, money will just be wasted so it is advisable to make further observations.
1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your plans with your Crypto Currency? on: August 09, 2018, 10:26:45 PM
Holding at this moment would be the best plan for Cryptos due to the observed extreme market volatility. Selling at times like this won't be a good odea because small profit will be earned and can also result into profit loss. For now, be patient and wait for positive things to happen.
1584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to make cash without investing? on: August 08, 2018, 10:41:54 PM
How can I earn cash without investing? Can I earn a thousand dollars without investing or buying first?
Participating in bountis make this thing possible. Participants doesn't need to invest just to participste and at the end of thr project they will be eligible for the rewards if they were able to comply with the required tasks for them to do in various campaigns within a bounty.
1585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to have many altcoins or it is enough to have few? on: August 08, 2018, 10:18:25 PM
I know that there are many kinds of alternative coins existing today, but is it better to have that many coins instead of having just a few? What are the benefits and harm in having that many alternative coins?
Since not all altcoins would be worth investing because only some are having huge price increase for a long run, having a few but promising coins would be a better investment. In such way, an investor won't have to divide his investments into different coins, making his token holdings for few coins, bigger.

Tim Draper: More Secure in Bitcoin Than the Money Sitting in Wells Fargo

Venture capitalist Tim Draper is bullish on Bitcoin and believes it will reach $250,000 in the next four years.

During a debate hosted by Intelligence Squared and the Adam Smith Society, Tim Draper was asked how Bitcoin compared with his previous tech investments in Hotmail, Skype, and Tesla. He replied bullishly, saying, “Bitcoin will be bigger than all three combined.” However, Draper didn’t leave it at that — he thinks it will be bigger than the iron age, the Renaissance, and the internet and says that the nascent technology will affect the entire world in a faster and more prevalent way than ever imagined.

The Debate: “Bitcoin is more than a bubble and here to stay.”
Backed up by Patrick Byrne (CEO of overstock), Draper took on Financial Times journalist, Gillian Tett, and Professor of Law, Eric Posner, both of whom argued that Bitcoin is indeed a bubble and strongly contested Draper’s claims. Posner and Tett called into question the “strengths” of Bitcoin, arguing that they could be regarded as weaknesses. Posner suggested that the pseudonymization of identity enabled by the technology makes Bitcoin transactions the perfect vehicle for sophisticated criminal transactions. Tett focused on the risk involved with trusting computers with finance as they can be hacked, are prone to faults, and that Bitcoin is a “terrible store of value.”

These arguments won’t be anything new to anyone who has studied the space, and the rebuttals of Draper and Byrne won’t come as a surprise either. The pair acknowledged that Bitcoin was imperfect and drew attention to the fact the technology was designed to be open source so that unforeseen problems can be managed by the community. Byrne also pointed out that although Bitcoin has been “hacked at” more than anything in history, but unlike banks, it has yet to be defeated.

Draper was more brazen in his responses and implored the crowd to use fiat if they were looking to facilitate their own criminal activity as many Bitcoin criminals get caught. The venture capitalist responded to Tett’s admission that she invests in several different fiat currencies by saying, “I’m so much more secure in my Bitcoin than I am in the money that’s sitting there in Wells Fargo.”

Who is right?
The short answer is it’s far too early to tell, but it is good to see the subject being discussed in this manner. Before the debate, Gillian Tett remarked that if both sides of an argument aren’t heard in the same room, on the same day, then the conversations can “go past one another.” It’s probably safe to say she’s right here because, although there is no shortage of media on either side of the argument, real debate on the subject can be difficult to find.

If crypto is going to head down the road Draper expects, its advocates need to be able to argue their case outside of the crypto community, and debate should be welcome as it not only gives both sides the ability to speak but also the ability to listen.

Draper’s comments are to be expected
As crypto enthusiasts, it’s easy to agree when figures like Draper sing the praises of Bitcoin, but we shouldn’t let confirmation bias get in the way of the issues. Draper is a successful investor, and he hasn’t arrived there without making mistakes. He could be wholly right, wrong, or somewhere in between — the latter is most likely. Draper allegedly owns 30,000 BTC, so he has a vested interest in Bitcoin’s success. That does not mean he is wrong, but it does mean his comments should be taken with a pinch of salt. Well-reasoned arguments are far more convincing than hype and chest beating because they allow people to make up their own minds.

The emergence of DLT might eclipse the impact of other innovations, but for now, the emphasis is not on critics to prove the crypto community wrong. It’s up to those who champion DLT to convince the world they’re right.

I do still believe that it would be more secure to store your wealth in banks than in crypto given that stability is present when it comes on fiat especially in banks. On the other hand, the market value of cryptos has a tendency to increase, as well as to fall, therefore risk do exist despite of having a chance to earn profit.
1587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which do you think is best to invest in btc or Eth on: August 07, 2018, 11:16:39 PM
Am a crypto investor seeking your opinion on which of the coin i should invest in for now.
Ethereum is having a more stable market value so choosing it over Bitcoin would result to less risky investment. On the other hand, Bitcoin is having a higher rate of increase during pumps, making it more profitable but yet, more risky. So it would depend on the what the investors prefer.
1588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you sell 100% of your holdings when in profit or hodl? on: August 07, 2018, 10:41:23 PM
Lets take the following example. You buy BTC at 6k and it goes up to 8K. Do you sell 100% of it or do you sell 75% and keep 25% in BTC.

What are your opinions / tactics?
It depends whether your ideal market price to sell is still realistic or not. Given that the market value of Bitcoin for an instance is expected to increase more than that, holding would be more essential. But if you are aiming for a price of 59k usd before selling, that would be dellusional.
1589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Do You Rate the Potential of Cyptocurrency? on: August 07, 2018, 10:14:04 PM
I am new to this industry but am really interested to know more about it.
How do rate the potential of a cyptocurrency? By number of people using it or the features or... ?
In my case, i do base the potential of a crypto or coin in its market populatity. If a crypto is popular, the demand in it would be high which is an important aspect on determining the price of a crypto. High demand would result to high potential of having a higher market value in the future, making it a good crypto to hold for years.

I dont actually spends a lot of time in the forum. I am also spending it at my recreational activities and I am also giving my part to my family as a member of the family. As a student I am also giving time for my self to study a lots of topic so that I can follow the discussion. Bounty campaigning for me is everywhere. 1591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin failed as a currency on: August 01, 2018, 01:30:24 PM
Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".

Do you guys think that this can change in the long term ?

How can you justify that bitcoin failed as currency if there are many investors and users who have been successful for this. How can you say that btc failed as currency if it is the standard of all coin and currencies now. How can you say that btc failed as currency if there are comapnies accepts btc as their medium of exchange.
1592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will every crypto coin survive? on: July 31, 2018, 06:57:24 PM
if a coin is no longer traded then this will eliminate its value. I just think when anything is not desirable then it will not be worth it.
when a coin is launched there will be enthusiasts from the public for buy it and start investing with the promised platform development.
I will stop using a coin or invest in a coin that has no future, meaning the function of the coin will be very vital in this regard. when a coin can be used for everyday transactions this coin will be a great coin but otherwise a coin that can not be enabled then it will continue to sink and not worth it.
Definitely not all the time the crypto coin survive bevause there are also coins that failed. Maybe because of some developers did not achieve their particular goal. This is sad bad it is happening I agree that developing a coin is not that so easy so I commend those coin that is surviving or mooning until this time.
1593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is a good amount to invest? on: July 31, 2018, 06:11:00 PM
investing is a very important concept for human life. First of all, you have to know the presentation. factors such as your income, your life style, your risk taking status are invested. so you decide best how much you need to invest. but whatever it is, take care of the risk you risk taking. and never trust a single investment objective.
Investing is a good way of earning in here. And you are not actually earning but you are also helping particular ICO to reach their target. But for me. Bounty campaigns are also good because it also helps ICO to gain investors ofcourse. And it doesnt need to invest any amount of money. You just need to posts weekly reports.
1594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: With how much should i start on: July 31, 2018, 05:15:03 PM
How much do i need to start trading altcoins. I would like to know what would be the ideal number.

Thanks!

For me i started trading altcoins with an ammount of 0.05 eth.  I got it when i sold my ACC token. When i have acquired my eth, i bought some Token that i believe it will soon rise its value.  I have bought it 0.03 eth and sold it for an ammount of 0.07 eth.  I think there is no ideal number except for having ammount greater than the payment for the GAS including deposit and withdraw, in addition you should have enough eth to buy other coins.  if i am to suggest you should have 0.1 eth or greater to fully maximize the capability of buying tokens then solding it at a profitable ammount.
It actually depends on the person on what method of earning he wants to use in the forum. Because there are some ways og earning here do not need any amount of moner intead they are doing particular tasks by joining bounty campaigns. It is free but you need to be qualified by rank also.
1595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Girls in the world of crypto currency on: July 31, 2018, 02:08:06 PM
I have been trading crypto-currencies for almost a year now, investing, participating in bounty companies and building my own mining farm.
I wonder how many more girls are in this forum?
Or who of the guys is teaching his girlfriends and wives to invest and trade in crypto-currencies? It is very interesting to me!
You can't say that there are more boys than girls in this forum or engage in this crypto and also you can't determine if the number of boys are larger than girls. But all I can say that both men and women are now into crypto because of the benefits they might get if they continue to invest and trust crypto.
1596  Economy / Economics / Re: When bitcoin prices rise up the market also will on: July 27, 2018, 05:10:53 PM
The usuall situation around the crypto market is when newbies buy bitcoin with fiat money and some of them diversify their investments by buying altcoins. All the money are going:
Fiat>Bitcoin>Altcoins, which increases both the prices of bitcoin and the altcoins.
This is when hype dominates the crypto market.
The current market situation is a little bit different. It`s like fiat>Bitcoin<Altcoins.
That`s why bitcoin goes up,while the altcoin prices aren`t going up.
I think that is what we all notice that bitcoin rise up the crypto market also will. Maybe it is the largest or the well known coin. So if that dump the other holder of token also will and the price in the market will fall. And it leads to market dump. That my analysis when i am looking at my blockfolio.
1597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long should one have to wait to sell on: July 27, 2018, 04:42:40 PM
Bitcoin keep on falling down  and no sign of raising. How long can we keep holding?
There is no specific time to sell your coin. If you think that the value is enough and satisfies you, you are free to sell it anytime. But I suggest to wait until the high possible value will come and I think that is the best time to sell you coins. But if it is an emergency, do the right decision.
1598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the best Cryptocurrency to invest 2018? on: July 27, 2018, 11:33:06 AM
is ethereum better than bitcoin? what do you thịnk about that? Which is the best Cryptocurrency to invest 2018?
Bitcoin and ethereum are different in each other so we can't really say which currency boom at this year. But for me as I monitor the transaction and these two coins, I think ethereum is much better compare to btc. Ethereum has a low value but very fast transaction which is good for long term and short term investment.
1599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tactics When Market is Falling on: July 27, 2018, 09:48:24 AM
Hi all,
I am a relative newbie but have remained pretty calm during the difficult last week or so. The markets are falling significantly again, is this still relatively normal and is the best advice just to HODL? Moving forward I think I will set stop losses on all holdings to protect my capital against falls like this.
Thanks
When you notice tgat market is falling, think positively and make a plan. You need to invest more at that time because the lesser you buy or invest coin the higher chances that you will get a higher value. Din't be afraid if you experience downfall of any coin because it is normal. Monitor coins and research about it.
1600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest regrets in cryptocurrency? on: July 26, 2018, 01:45:14 PM
I discovered bitcoin when it was about $5 per coin and during that time for several reasons I could not buy it. I discovered eth and xmr when they were around $10 per coin and I could not find a good place to buy them. I discovered netko when it was about $0.05 and I could not get the wallet compiled. I probably had around 40 bitcoins and cashed them all out under $800 and I could name more.

You?
The biggest regret I cannot forget is that I just ignore crypto even I heard the positive feedback many times. I also, regret the time that I didn't buy much of ETH at its lower price maybe if I buy some, I am successful now. So the lesson here is that, don't ignore the opportunity that comes into you, it just come one at a time. So grab itm
