1481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to known a Scam ICO on: February 27, 2019, 11:38:55 AM
Please tell me how to known a scam ICO to protect myself
BTW now i should buy ICO coin or buy coin on exchange?
Thank so much
You can actually recognize if the ICO is legit. My number one preference is their whitepaper. That everything that they want in the whole ICO is stated there and also their platform itself. Mu number two preference is that their website, you can see it there when it is legit. My last reference is the bounty manager if he is famous for handling an ICO and it is successful.

Hello,
I'm very sorry to hear about this. You may have some type of malware on your computer
that resulted in your funds being stolen because your private information was somehow
obtained. One of the most common types of these are browser extensions posing as
bitcoin price tickers that are actually stealing your account information. There's also the
possibility that you visited a phishing site posing as Blockchain. We've also heard of
computer viruses that detect when an address is in your clipboard, and replace the one you
wanted to use with an address controlled by this malicious party.
By design, Blockchain never has access to users' accounts or funds. If you keep your
password and private key backups secure, then your funds are always safe with us. Since
this information has been compromised, be sure to never use this wallet or any addresses
contained within it. I'd also highly advise against using the same password again. I'm truly
sorry that you had funds stolen from you. That certainly is an extremely frustrating
experience.
If you’d like to learn more about how our wallet works, please visit:

You were actually responsible in every action that you take. We must very careful in giving data especially in this technology, we should protect our important information especially our accounts. You cannot blame the blockchain.

A Billion People Will Be Using Cryptocurrency in 5 Years: Brian Armstrong
The world of money is revolutionizing in front of our eyes. Cryptocurrency is creating new paradigms for alternative payment systems and decentralized banking. There is no doubt that the user adoption of various cryptocurrencies is rapidly increasing. The cryptocurrency industry has become more fluid as the borders between it and mainstream finance continue to blur. At the same time, regulators are spending long hours at work to regulate the booming circle of crypto-enthusiasts.

It could be one of the prime reasons why Brian Armstrong believes crypto-adoption will increase at an astronomical pace in the next half-decade.

The Coinbase chief executive was responding to a question about cryptocurrency’s international outreach at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, to which he predicted that 1 billion people would eventually be using cryptocurrencies in the next five years.

Armstrong believes a growing number of cryptocurrency companies will contribute to the overall crypto ecosystem growth. These companies, under a regulated environment, will issue their tokens backed by their respective market caps. In a way, these institutionalized digital assets will prove to be an alternative investment system in addition to equities.

“It makes sense that any company out there who has a cap table should have their token,” Armstrong said. “Every open source project, every charity, potentially every fund or these new types of decentralized organizations [and] apps, they’re all going to have their tokens.”

Coinbase, the U.S. company Armstrong heads, is one of the world’s largest bitcoin and altcoin exchanges by trading volume. They have only recently entered the U.K. markets to tap the growing crypto-user base in the country. Previously, it had been working actively in the U.S. and Europe, and it has amassed over 13 million users to date. That makes it 32.5 percent of the overall crypto-users — arguably, anyway.

Armstrong plans to expand Coinbase to more global territories. They have recently announced their plans to open new offices in Africa.

This is not impossible as we can see as of now many countries already legalized cryptocurrency just like here in my country they already recognized it and one bank opens cryptocurrency atm this month which mean an easier inventory for our holdings and also savings.
1484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Can Now Buy Movie Tickets Using Bitcoin In Brazil on: February 26, 2019, 06:26:51 PM
People Can Now Buy Movie Tickets Using Bitcoin In Brazil
Buying movie tickets in Brazil just got a whole lot easier through Bitcoin payment systems established by Cine Multi.

Brazil initially showed signs of interest in Bitcoin and the blockchain technology last in 2017 when Brazilian Hotel Chain Vert Hotéis started accepting Bitcoins as payment for their services. This was then followed by Brazil's usage of the Ethereum blockchain to keep track and monitor the political expression of Brazilian citizens.

Read more here: https://www.unblock.news/news/people-can-now-buy-movie-tickets-using-bitcoin-in-brazil
It usual actually using bitcoin as their payment. This actually concludes that bitcoin or cryptocurrency itself is being recognized already in so many countries that could have use it for payment method for faster transaction.
1485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who would actually believe celebs promoting crypto? on: February 26, 2019, 05:31:25 PM
DJ Khaled and Mayweather had an issue about shilling an ICO. And other celebrities hyping or promoting scam coins. Who would actually rely on their words? If you're listening to celebs then you are not ready for this type of market at all.
I totally agree with this. Promoting the ICO using the popularity of the celebrity is very effective for advertising especially if that celebrity is well known and also have good investments in cryptocurrency. As well as manny pacquiao when he fight he uses the logo of the ICO to promote and thats the thing why it is good.
1486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO still have huge chance of surviving on: February 26, 2019, 05:15:58 PM
I really think that there is still chance for ICO to make it big again and many developers are not stopping in producing one themselves, Even if there are ICO that have stop from their production there are some that haven't lost their faith at all and I think this is a positive thing for them because when the price of bitcoin turn back to a recovery they will surely return back again, It only takes time for them to start a new ICO and in their experience in their first lost I really think that they can do it in their 2nd try, They only need momentum, And they only got carried by the bear markets big wave, But when the Bull Market would turn the tide back I really think we can see many ICO coming back from their feet.
It actually have. Knowing that crypto is still in line, ICO is still working even if market is down right now and also seeing that market is slowly continue rising up from dumping there are actually some news that they will be launching that is applying harder security and they said that it is better than ICO. I dont know what its called but I'm waiting for it.
1487  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is bitcoin reduced price an opportunity to buy? on: February 26, 2019, 04:29:51 PM
some people have lost confidence in bitcoin because of the current decline, some large investors take advantage of the opportunity to buy as much as possible, bitcoin never reduces prices but this is just manipulation of big traders
I totally agree that there are some have lost their interests and confidence because of the dumped happened this year. They get used to have a big money because the price of every crypto in the market is high that make them so profitable. But now it still dumped and slowly rising up.

1489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep the BitCoins Safe? on: February 25, 2019, 07:21:02 PM
Hack and Hacks, every day I am waking up to the news of crypto exchanges getting hacked, recently a crypto exchanges founder died and he seem to have a hold of $190 million worth of BitCoins with him.
I have taken a pledge of never using a custodial exchanges, even if it is Binance, and not matter how much CZ says that he will keep the cryptos SAFU, I am not doing the mistake of keeping my money at stake.

I did a detailed study of what exchanges to use and what wallets to use -

  • Exchanges - Instant exchanges only, Changelly, ChangeNow, CoinSwitch etc.
  • Wallets - Divided into two parts - Ledger NANO S for long term investment, and keeping the funds safe, MultiCurrency wallet for trading, ex - Gaurda Wallet, Exodus Wallet

Let me know what you guys think.

There are many ways to keep your bitcoins safe. Choose a wallet and offline or online wallet that is used by many holders or famous of its security for you to have that info you need to check it first. Second important thing is that you should secure your passwords/codes in you for you to prevent it from hacking.
1490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we not abusing decentralization? on: February 25, 2019, 01:27:47 PM
Decentralization is one of the greatest dreams of Satoshi looking at the how the blockchain technology and its immutable distributed ledger has been designed. Well it saddens my heart that the greed of men has led to the abusing of this freedom and liberty that Satoshi wanted us to have in the financial industry. Look at the way people are being scammed and robbed in broad day light just because crypto is embedded in anonymity and decentralization. I think we've all had it to the peak, how about we have some level of regulation with the activities in the crypto industry. Share your thoughts commrades.
We are not. Decentralization of cryptocurrency is an advantage for the cryptos itself. It is good that no one handles and manages it just like government. This financial industry and digital money world is good for everyone of us especially when we are smarter. You will be only scammed when you have ignorance in your head. Just be informative in every step you take.
1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do when your coin spikes? on: February 25, 2019, 10:53:17 AM
I'm just looking for the opinions of others really, there's no right or wrong answer to this question.
What do you do when a coin you're holding suddenly jumps up by like 30% or whatever? do you try to sell at the peak of that spike and buy them back once it's gone back down again? or do you just keep on hodling?
It actually depends on the person if he or she needs that money for something like investing or buying some stuffs, but for me i will still hold it until the value maybe become even tripled and thats the time i will sell it.
1492  Economy / Speculation / Re: A chance for Bitcoin to rise! on: February 25, 2019, 06:27:26 AM
For the past months I’m too depressed about my losses since I came in this market unprepared. I try not to be active but the market looks inviting me again to be more responsible for what I’ve done and to do better this time.

Bitcoin started to pump slowly, though its not enough to get back my losses but I think there’s a reason why I should stay. I know I’m not the only one here who lose money but still trying to do their best to have some profit. Thank you to this forum, i was able to rise again and this time I will believe more on the future of bitcoin! Continue to hold!

Edit: I lose almost $2000 before both in trading and in gambling, I know its quiet small for you but that’s a lot of money for me. Thanks to those who help me to survive on this one.
Bitcoin is pumping that is right but i dont think that it can reach high value just like what it reached last year. It so dumped right now that makes so many ICO to hold on and waiting for the market to rise again. Holding is the important thing for us to help.
1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Union Bank of the Philippines Launching Cryptocurrency ATM on: February 23, 2019, 04:10:29 PM
I think this is mainly for promotion of their bank -- they are probably trying to appeal to the younger generations and give themselves a reason to stand out among other banks. More power to them. I won't click on the link because I boycott bitcoin.com but I wonder is it available to everybody for use or only registered account holders? I also praise the government of the Philippines for maintaining a rather "hands off" approach when it comes to crypto regulations.

True, though I know that a lot of Filipino miners and traders utilize Unionbank's services for their needs, alongside BDO and BPI (which are the biggest banks here.) The Philippines is a country ripe for the picking for cryptocurrency investments and startups, as the country is somewhat friendly towards such ventures knowing that it could potentially drive profit and boost employment should someone decide to open up a firm here. Anyway, I don't think bitcoin ATMs are that relevant for the Filipino community, but it's a good way of telling and reminding people that at the least, the scene is somewhat ramping up its game.
This was actually a good news for everyone especially holders of cryptocurrency in the philippines. I think this is for better transaction making easy payment and savings for our bitcoins. Due to this news, i think cryptocurrency will be more famous in the philippines as the government recognized it.
1494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin collapse by a global government crackdown? on: February 23, 2019, 03:48:21 PM
With all the buzz lately of governments cracking down on cryptocurrencies, there has been fear among people with regards to Bitcoin and altcoins. This is one of the many reasons why 2018 experienced a sharp decline in the value of the whole crypto market, leaving many wonder the outcome of a complete government crackdown towards Bitcoin and other cryptos in the future.

As such, what do you think will happen with Bitcoin if all the governments of the world ban it? Will it collapse after the massive crackdown on every single cryptocurrency? Or will it survive? AFAIK, Bitcoin is largely dependent on nodes distributed geographically. The Internet is controlled by ISPs which are subject to government demands. If a global government crackdown happens, then the growth of Bitcoin and other cryptos might stale for sure.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Huh
There are actually so many reasons why bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies collapsed, one is because of the bull run that triggers so many holders and investors sell their holding of other crypto for them to have bigger profit. Also they said that big whales are holding buying and selling it every time that makes the price to collapse and dump so far.
1495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix to make a documentary about the altcoin side of crypto on: February 23, 2019, 03:04:10 PM
With the success of their last documentary about the ever surging interest in cryptocurrencies Banking on bitcoin was made for those who were wanting to learn just how bitcoin was created and how it was doing 7 years after the first transaction was made. As another thread was created about the netflix feature film.
I decided this news would be more intriguing to those who are in the other half of the spectrum
The alternative coin market of cryptocurrencies.

Netflix has announced they are working on a film/8 part documentary about the mysterious dark side of cryptocurrency. Well because it is in the background of the king of crypto.
There was alot of fallout in these alt coin markets due to the prices of some dropping to 95% of their value in just 6 months after those who purchased them causing people to be financially ruined.

They say this documentary will be released in 2020.
https://themerkle.com/is-netflix-making-a-documentary-about-altcoins
Cryptocurrency will be more famous as plenty of people can watch that documentary. Also this is good for the beginners to acquire more knowledge about cryptocurrencies. Countless people will view that i'm pretty sure about that.
1496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New type of scammers in telegram! Keep your bitcoins safe! Watch out! on: February 23, 2019, 12:40:28 PM
Be very careful of this new type of scammers in Telegram. They use the names and pictures of beautiful girls. The way they operate is that they show themselves in the telegram chat of whatever coin you are into. They don’t directly private message you, but they say something to call your attention or somebody else’s attention to start a conversation and eventually take the conversation private.

More in the following article:

https://medium.com/@TheGoldenOrder/stay-alert-for-this-new-type-of-scammers-in-telegram-6b970e240e8d

WATCH OUT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCAMMERS!

Spread the word, we need to protect ourselves from them!.
To be honest, there are so many scammers in terms of cryptocurrency. They're using the ignorance of other people and take advantage to scam money. That is actually unethical but we can't avoid since it was digital and we cant do anything about it but to accept. We just need to be more active and more careful in every transaction that we make.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a religion on: February 22, 2019, 04:33:20 PM
Read the Bitcoin "investors" in this forum and you always see them say the same: "I believe..."

- I believe Bitcoin will go up
- I believe HODL is good
- I believe we will see adoption
- I believe it will go to the moon

and so and...and so on.... and so on

You have no understanding - only belief

Therefore Bitcoin for many people in here is a religion - it is about belief and not about facts and understanding

And religion is an extremely poor investment strategy
I totally got your point in this subject. Knowing that so many people in our community always saying that they are believing but believing is nothing when there is no action. What actions can you do to support anything in the community?
- responding in every post with admirable answer
- following the forum rules
- dont just believe in HOLDing, just do it.
1498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is completely legal in at least 111 countries, and illegal in only 10 on: February 22, 2019, 03:42:17 PM
In countries like India is not completely illegal, only banks asked them to stop dealing with crypto transactions but still you can hold or use the bitcoin in that country and no laws from that country will punish you for doing that so make it number 9. Cheesy
The situation is same here in indonesia. It's not completely illegal but it's forbidden here to use bitcoin as a money (well in reality, many people here use bitcoin to buy things. You still can trading bitcoin and invest on bitcoin too.
Bitcoin is legalized in countless countries meaning these country already noticed or recognized the advantages of using this Cryptocurrency, it has actually so many advantages and one of it is having faster payment method or transaction in different address. Knowing that there so many other crypto that has also solid platforms.
1499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What has changed? Is it moving forward? on: February 22, 2019, 03:14:03 PM
It has become an investment vehicle more than a tool that is replacing fiat. Almost all regulations covering cryptocurrencies are also related on it being an asset/investment rather than a transactional currency, so not much has changed. Price wise, it has changed drastically, though I think it's an improper metric to gauge whether bitcoin has become successful or not.

Overall, I'd say bitcoin changed for the better, at least when comparing it to 1014 market conditions.
in terms of price as of now, it's still not good for everyone after we experienced the bull run last year. We are all waiting for that to happen again. Cryptocurrencies and ICO's will rise up again. Just dont lose hope and keep on supporting Crypto to have more investors.
1500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What made you fall in love with crypto? on: February 22, 2019, 01:51:48 PM
https://blocktribune.com/why-i-fell-in-love-with-crypto/

In the spirit of Valentine's Day today, I came across this article and had a good laugh. What are your reasons for falling in love with cryptocurrency?

There are actually so many reasons why you fall in love with cryptocurrency, and the number one reason for me is that crypto has easy transaction in terms of payment method, also this digital currency makes us profitable in so many ways.
