Boxing day match playing at Melbourne looks like not different for England team as the previous three matches. Australia got good start scored 208-3, Captain Smith well set looking for another big score, it will be extremely tough for England if they concede 400+ score. Australians are again favourite to win this match.

Australia scored 244/3 at the end of the first day's play. They have scored relatively slowly on the first day, but will look to pick up the scoring pace tomorrow. Since they have wickets in hand, they can afford to take a few risks. If they score more than 500 and England have 3 days to play out, I think Australia can force a result in this match.

I doubt England can win any game of this series. The Ashes is already for the Australian Team, now I believe the Australians are planning to white wash their opponent.Scoring more than 500 is not necessary, probably then it can turn to be a draw if they play too defensive.
Smith is playing good, I think he will make another century.

Yes, England is playing very good so far in this match. Tomorrow morning also they need to continue this form then they can easily get a decent lead in this innings. Because many times England top orders played a good batting but their middle and lower order batsman spoiled their openers hard work. So we can't say anything as of now and need to wait for until end of England's first innings batting.

It was a stupendous bowling performance which has pulled England ahead. Their batsmen have capitalized on the advantage as well, with Cook making a century and remaining unbeaten. Australia lost their last seven wickets for 67 runs. This doesn't happen often and England should make sure that Australia feel the pressure in the second innings.

Even though I am Australian and want to see Australia win, I'm just happy to finally see England perform well when it is needed. If Cook and Root can stick around in the morning session and pile on the runs then Australia could be facing a big total to chase down. England need to at least make 550+ runs if they are to beat Australia in this test match and get them quick as there could be rain later today and tomorrow.

Finally we are seeing some fight being put by England team and Cook has made double century and playing at 214 runs. England have taken 121 runs lead now and their 2 wickets is remaining. I think if they can take 150 runs lead and get OZ out under 300 then they got a good chance to win this test match in remaining 2 days.

England already is leading by 164 runs and still got another one wicket remaining in the 1st innings. I think they may add another 20 runs to this total, the total lead may be around 180 runs which is a good lead for England. If England bowl good in second innings then they can try to this match easily but if they allow Australia to score more runs then match may end in a draw.

What an innings from Alistair cook, a great marathon innings saved England from whitewash, only one team can lose the match from here is Australia. With 2 days left in the match England looking to win the match as already they've lost the Ashes they are playing for pride here. Australia will have to bat hard to draw the match.

Before starting this match people discussed including me why still cook is playing, he is out of form his retirement time came. Now everyone is saying he is the hero and saved England from the whitewash. And we must appreciate Broad he played and fantastic innings with Cook. My guessing is this match is going to become a draw.

Cook is unbeaten on 244. It is not certain whether he will able to eke out too many more runs for the tenth wicket partnership, but he has nevertheless done a fabulous job. A lead of 150+ runs should put pressure on Australia when they come out to bat again. The match is not won yet, but England should be clear favourites to win from here.

Really glad to see England fighting back with Cook and Board putting up a hundred run partnership in the tenth wicket which is really great to see as a performance as they frustrated the Australian bowling line up with the way they handled those situations,if not for Cook's performance England would not have scored this many runs,if they can bowl out Australia they could win this or draw this match.
