$152/TH?  LOL.  Even with free power I wouldn't pay that price.

So is it official then ? Bitmain has killed off home mining ?

Pretty much in the sense that even six seven and eight power all will struggle to earn a profit.

On top of this issue. More hash is coming.

Bw has  a lot  bitfury will be pushing 16nm  Innosiclon may have some.

So the 1/2 ing and the hash growth will force you the home miner to have 2-4 cent power.

For me I am going to need to move gear out of my home very soon.

My power cost is 9.7 cents I will be out very soon.

Well,  Here are my numbers.  I make $7.00 per day with Kano.is per machine.

That is $7 per machine x 30 days per month = $210 per month Gross.  A new S7 is $720.  With this information so far this would be a 3.43 Month ROI.  This would be paid off in May...

Now figuring Net would be subtracting your Electric per month and the shipping cost.

This is still VERY PROFITABLE to me.  Just my two cents worth... Smiley

Then you were right.

But I'm moving this spring, and i'm not 100% sure of know how things will be there.

It also coincide with the "cool times" soon to end AND then the halving will be next door. So i'm thinking there will be a speculative BTC spike before the halving, which could be a good time to sell hardware for many reasons.

That is a bummer for sure it seemed like you had a sweet gig with current apartment. You seemed to run a good amount of gear for an apartment... and free is awsome.    Mind if I ask what is making you move?  I would try to stay if I ever found a deal like that.

I am surprised the landlords did not throw a fit though with electricity cost.

Big corporate apartments complex do not have individual meters. I'm leaving because it was a temporary deal. I'm getting my cheap apartment now, i just dont know what the circuit there can support. For all i know it could be 60A.

And its older, so i'd have to scale up the sound proofing a lot. I just dont know yet.

If you're willing to go without a stove, you could hook up your rigs to it's electrical circuit. That's what i did here in Ottawa. Otherwise, i was stuck with less than 10 THS. I'm moving back to Toronto in the summer. Once again, I'm lucky as I'll have an apartment with electricity included. So I plan to take my 240 set up and run it there. Probably will shut down my S3 and S5s ...but keep my S7s rolling.

Did you replace the outlet or the plug, to fit in the Oven receptable? Also did you figure out a way to get surge protection on your setup? I'm pondering getting a surge protector at the outlet or just use surge suppressor strips plugged into the PDU.

Unfortunately, while this type of calculation would have been pretty close a year ago, it's not now. That's because network hashrate is increasing very quickly. Difficulty will increase around 13-14% sometime early Friday morning (EST). Then, assuming a 13% increase, you'll gross ~$6.20 per day. If we see another 13% increase about 12-13 days later, you'll be making ~$5.50 per day (assuming $420 bitcoins). And so on.

Your numbers are correct providing that the cost of Bitcoin remains the same.  When I calculate that I was making this amount of $7.00 bitcoin was at $379 exchange rate; it is now at $418 which is a 10% change in itself.  I do believe the market of purchasing Miners with the current hashrate and electrical usage will taper off therefore easing the difficulty level.

I am currently not purchasing more miners and letting what I do have produce bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the investment------That is on a RISE!   Thanks for our great conversation!  Smiley

Hi NotFuzzyWarm,

When you get them, will you let me know if the controller has 6 x fan inputs and 9 x 18 pin inputs from the blades to the controller?

Thanks in advance.

I bought a male stove plug to attach to my cable. I had 25 feet of cable to run from my kitchen to the balcony where i set up my rigs.  I didn't use a surge surpressor at all as the PDU i bought had it's own protection. If the PDU doesn't have it's own protection, I'm not sure if the surge supressor would go before the PDU or after it.

If you have one a surge suppressor is always first in line with the PDU or power strip or UPS plugged into it.

I don't see point buying S7, when after halving they are not profitable, if you don't have very cheap electricity.

by very cheap you mean less then 3c a kwh.. :/

the price on batch 11 is insane.. it will cost more then you will get out of it, even if you are lucky and there are no more 20% diff increases..

But still people are buying these new S7s so I guess Bitmain will continue on flooding us and the difficulty increase will continue.

Cmon guys.  Do you really think its S7s or even Avalons increasing the hashrate?

We know Bitfury had that working "demo" chip quite a while ago now.  My bet is the first batch just got deployed in the past few weeks.  BW has their chip also, but I'm thinking its not them as they are probably a little more behind.

What really happened here is someone got their new 14/16nm chip up and running in a big way, and just hasn't publicly stated such.

I would not ruleout S7's at all.At this point I figure  bitmain has got the lowest price they will on producing them.  I also figure they have very  good electricity prices at internal mines.  So add  those together they still can  profit off S7's I think.

I think S7 is at least a portion....how much we will likely never know.

I would almost be willing to bet the S7's were a large portion of that network hash rate increase.  I honestly believe they were not able to sell all of the batch 8's.  I don't believe they sold very many batch 9's and batch 10's at all.  They simply posted them as being sold out and incorporated them inside their own mines.  I would think they are willing to do the same with the batch 11.

Yes, BitFury may have increased "some" of the network hash rate but I don't believe they are the main culprit of the significant increase we've had lately.  I believe it's mostly Avalon 6's and Bitmain S7's that came on line in China.  My speculation of course.

EDIT:  If all of it were S7's and Avalon 6's, it would be a total of approximately 30,000 rigs manufactured between the two of the for the increase in hash we had over the past 2 weeks.  Does anyone think that is possible?

they did this with the s5s.. then at the end of the batches they sold off their own "used" inventory..

because the s7s that they dont sell, i am fairly certain they are using them.. why would they just sit there idle if they turn a profit.

If I were them, I would not let them sit idle in a warehouse.  I would use them and sell them as used if mined with for longer than one week.

Their wallet address has no significant increase in activity lately.  I really believe they are mining with most all of the batch 9 and batch 10 rigs.  It is possible batch 11 rigs could be in the middle of the manufacturing process.  Especially, if they have more 1385 chips available.  Batch 11 may be the last batch of new S7's.  It's possible they may sell used rigs after batch 11.

they did this with the s5s.. then at the end of the batches they sold off their own "used" inventory..

because the s7s that they dont sell, i am fairly certain they are using them.. why would they just sit there idle if they turn a profit.

If I were them, I would not let them sit idle in a warehouse.  I would use them and sell them as used if mined with for longer than one week.

the problem is they were selling them as new :/

Meantime though the difficulty is falling like a rock. Maybe all the Antminers they are mining with had the heat sinks fall off :-)

Fixed your quote to better follow Bitmain's standard business operating procedures.

I know with certainty that they do not let any of this hardware just sit around, they mine (at great profit) with it from the moment the machines come off the assembly line.

Not sure what you're watching, but difficulty continues to rise at unprecedented rates as hardware manufacturers around the world scramble to get as much gear up and running before the halving.
