Well hell. My batch 8 has developed a problem. It started beeping and I happened to be nearby so I checked out the GUI and the hashrate was slowly dropping to zero. I noticed that one hashboard said the temp was 96 and two of them said temp 0. So I rebooted through the GUI, it came up and started mining but the temps all say 0 now. I did a power cycle and same thing, all zeros. At least it is hashing though so that's good. It didn't overheat, it is sitting next to a couple other S7's and the temp where they are didn't get up past room temperature and the other machines are fine. When I powercycled it I did gently move it around to check for a loose heatsink but there wasn't anything detectable, plus I think those were mostly in earlier batches. But now all zeros on the temps. Lame.
i`ve add the same issus happens to me on a S4 and a S5, reflashing the machine ( even if it;s the same revision ) cured my problems both times, actually the s5 i had to flash 3 times. let it sit for a day than came back to life the next flashing. try it out.

Thanks for letting me know. I am a bit leary of flashing these machines actually based on previous posts on the matter where people bricked them. But that is good info and I will keep it in mind. Since it is mining ok and since I have other machines nearby that can give me an idea if the ambient temps in there are a problem I guess I will just live with it. I did take off the tick box to have it stop mining if temps go above 80 just in case the temp sensors start reporting something crazy again.

EDIT: Looks like this was actually precipitated by a brief failover on the pool. I have seen these things get messed up on failover before but this is the first time I saw an issue develop that didn't get cured by a power cycle.
What are your fans set at? Do you set them at manual? 50%. To 55 % is pretty good setting

This is how you clean up those Power Jumpers on modular PSUs...use modular plugs. It makes the job so much neater! Many thanks to PPOC for helping me test the modular jumpers on the EVGA G2 PSUs! I have a bunch of these modular plugs in different sizes for different brand PSUs if anyone is interested...

But i see you jumped #2 and #4 for the EVGA. Isint the green wire pin #4? Because my jumpers are on #3+#4. I thought 3 and 5 was black. Is #2 a ground too?

The pin out on the PSU side is different, in part so you need to buy the manufacturers cables vs. some generic.. I've always made these for myself, EVGAS, Corsair, Lepa, etc. (yes the pin outs are different across manufacturers) but never realized people might want some..

The EVGA comes with the jumper now. They all do now. But i thought. Why didnt they make it female, so that you can plug it strait into the PSU? It would cost them exactly the same thing but it would be much cleaner. Now i have about a dozen EVGA, the mobo trunk isint much of an issue but in OCD term, i wouldnt mind removing their "tails".

Less for more pieces...PM if interested.

The OCD factor is why I started doing the jumper plugs directly into the modular PSUs...I could not stand having a bundle of cables everywhere just to jump two pins together. When I started finding the modular plugs I bought more than I needed because of bulk discounts. Then I realized that some of the makers used different sized modular plugs! It's been crazy...

Does Bitmain have the NEW S9 fully developed and installed in their Farm?
When would they be releasing the S9 to the public?
Intriguing thoughts!
What are your thoughts?
BITMAIN, you are welcome to chime in.
im very sure they will release kind of s7+ first... maybe 10THs @ ~2000w to sell more BM1385´s IMO they will release S8/S9 only when an competitioner like Bitfury is selling more efficient Chips. Bitfury already has a more efficient chip available 0.1 j/GH http://bitfury.com/products I do like that containerized 16PH mining system they offer ... now only if I could build a nuclear power plant in my back yard ... LOL- maybe they will give you one to review.

And a LOT of the big guy's already have these big data centers. I predict they want the gear to go into existing slots, and use existing PSU's. But this is getting offtopic of Bitmain. Bitmain I would love to see what they have planned for next gen. Right now seems S7 is focus though. And I can see why if you have cheap electricity likely still good gear for quite a while.

S9 is at least months away. IMO after halving and then some. but who knows. we hear about the next gen miners, but so far nothing real has come up to the public it seems. unless someone can confirm otherwise. I was wondering, does anybody know what the resell value of an s7 is ? And would that resell value rise once bitmain stops selling them ?

The problem on resell value is each batch keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. Right now batch 11's are tad over 700 dollars. And some have gotten shipped. So I think they dropped from around 900 or so to closer to 700 now. And if not already there they will be soon as far as resell. It's hard to say in a month what it will be. Highly connected to each new batches price.

Did anyone noticed the predicted Network difficulty drop on the next window? Market always reset itself to make it worth while. Bitcoin can not survive without the miners, but of course lowest cost miners will always have the best odds over the long term.
