What kind of company has the nerve to start requiring verification and limiting withdrawals (that they played off as required by government) months AFTER losing 10,000 BTC?

A company that is trying to scam, that is what kind.

Exact quote from Horus to me via email on 10/30/15:

"If you submit an application I will have a specialist accept it and  will release your funds."

You apparently had some authority over the "specialist" who did have access to wallets.  And you had no idea?

Note I was already verified Tier 1 and was asking to withdraw an amount well below that threshold.  Out of thin air he said I had to verify to Tier 2.  Making up things as he went along, to keep the con going.

Go to jail, criminal.

Well fuck.... I don't even know what to say...

I found out about the blog post when a customer called me and told me it was up. I found that irritating to say the least....

Again, I never worked with any wallets, had access to any wallets or any code. I ran investigations and customer end security ( like 2fa and getting back into hacked accounts)

This is a really shitty situation. I understand people are upset and have every right to be. I admit, I drank the koolaid and when people told me things were alright, I believed them whole heartedly.  I don't know code or hardware at all, so when I was told it was a technical issue, I had faith.

Now I just look like an asshole for believing it, and for that I do apologize. Since I heard about this, Ive been sifting through dozens of emails from people with "tips" and it is exhausting to say the least. Although I am no longer paid by Cryptsy, I feel an obligation to try me best to help locate coins, whoever may have them.

In the mean time I don't mind trying to answer any questions I can and I know trolls are gonna troll hard at the moment. I'd be trolling too so I can't blame them.

I've always tried to help people since starting at Cryptsy and I find it a real shame it's come to an end like this.

Are you that far out of the loop that after the story broke last night, you being one of the few remaining employees of Cryptsy just got wind of what's going on via a customer alerting you to Paul's blog post? I bet that was embarrassing.

Horus: How may I help you?
Customer: Blah blah blah, and did you hear the latest?
Horus: No, what?
Customer: The ten million dollars stolen from Cryptsy. Here's the link to the blog post.
Horus: Oh my fuckin' God! Surprise surprise surprise! Thanks. Guess I need to pen a post for BCT. They'll believe me, I'm sure of it.

As of two days ago, we recognized you as still being on Cryptsy's payroll. Exactly how and when were you informed that you were no longer on the payroll? Surely, it happened some time after this mysterious customer brought it to your attention of Paul's blog post, eh?

Yes, Apparently I was that far out of the loop. I legitimately found out when a customer called me and said it was up. He actually called me, and I said when I hear something I would call him back, then he called me right back and informed me about the blog post. I did find it embarrassing, yes.   I am not corporate level at Cryptsy, 95% of decisions, unless it has to do with 2fa or investigations, don't ever come near me. I get you guys are upset and looking for facts, unfortunately I have just about as much info as you guys. I know people will want to fight that fact, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. I popped into IRC last night and spoke with some people, answered any questions I could and saw this today and thought I'd comment.

Quote
I guess the only person who can really shed light on what's happened at Cryptsy 1.5 years ago is Nicholas Mullesch aka Mullick. He supervised all coin daemons running there. The feds would like to talk to him for sure. Soon.
It makes no sense that the guy who approved the trojan wallet would still work there for more than a year afterwards.  Also, wasn't he like head security guy or some such thing?  Why would you let the guy who compromised the whole show be head security guy?
if i read this page https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-mullesch-46b5a784 I belive he was only a admin. this is a description like a admin who starts and kills virtual machines on 12 servers. This should be the "big" wallet-guy? I was blinded very much from cryptsy.  Undecided
This guy only went to highschool...

Nicholas Mullesch was in no way qualified for the position he had. Ultimately it was his job to secure against exactly what happened. I fault Paul for hiring someone for such an important position without the proper qualifications.

Also, why didn't they have insurance to cover this kind of thing? Any viable exchange should have insurance.

Perhaps a back list of the individuals involved with cryptsy should be maintained.

Horus ran INVESTIGATIONS, yet had no idea.

That must be why he scammed me on 1+ BTC because he thought my email was a friend's.

If you believe anyone at CRYPTSY you need to have your head examined.

I have emails that prove you withheld my BTC because of ridiculous claims.  You had to know what was going on.

Anyone with a class action suit, contact me - I'm not spending that much time on a little over 1BTC, but I will furnish you with emails that sure don't make Horus look good.

You are a grade A idiot. You filed your report with Florida and I personally wrote the response. Notice how nothing came of it? Because you were either lying, or allowing your " friend" to post from same browser, same IP, and use your "personal" email on his website as a means of contact. Anyone in any banking institution would have done the same as me. I just asked for some sort of proof you weren't him, which you repeatedly failed to provide. If you are going to post the emails at least give me permission to post what I found. Only fair eh?

Would you care to clarify your timelines of employment with Paul Vernon and his merry band of thieves? Because it smells kind of off when you claim you had no idea this was going on yet were helping with pretty sensitive aspects of the operation.

I'm getting the same feeling from this I did when Joshie's posse was running around Vegas at Marshall's little circle jerk, INSISTENT that they ABSOLUTELY WERE MINING THE FUCK OUT OF EVERY COIN AND WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE US, telling us that what was coming next would be EPIC, and then a lot of the core crew claiming they had no idea shit was off. Sorry kids, it takes more than one person to pull off theft at this level and willful ignorance isn't absolution.

The reason I created Horus, was not because I didnt want people to know I was Jd, which I have stated multiple time in public -- I created the pseudonym because I worked in anti-terrorist financing and investigations.

It's amazing how they're always the last to know about a ten million dollar theft.

Why would either of those roles have access to Cryptsy's financials?

I did investigations on customer accounts, never needing access to our own. Does someone who is an investigations officer at somewhere like HSBC have access to the banks personal financials? obviously not, because there is no need to.

If you work somewhere and can't tell things are off, you're either willfully ignoring facts in front of your face, or you're just an idiot. I don't know you so I won't take a guess as to which. I worked for a now defunct mining pool. I quit because even though I didn't have direct access to the owner's financials, I had a steady stream of customers showing me they weren't getting paid. And I got sick of trying to defend someone who couldn't pay people what they owed. Seriously how oblivious were you to what was going on man?

Remember when 3 months ago I was like wtf why is cryptsy getting sticky hands can you look into it? And you are like don't worry just keep leaving money here. And I am like no thx. Then all the times you banned me and other ppl in trollbox for legitimate questions about where the fuck is our money? Then I reach out on twitter and tell you as a friend how it will hurt you to associate with this scamy company and you block me. Well TOLD YA SO! Maybe instead of sitting on a high horse fucking listen to your friends next time. trolling completed:)

Mullick vanished after lipping me off after Cryptsy staff DOXX'd me on this topic months ago..

HIS LAST FORUM COMMENT

Want to Dox me ? You can't.. i already did it myself LOL

I have no clue how your information made it onto the web. If I had to guess it would be the above

I expected you to say that precisely.

Predictable shit.. as always LOL

edit:
And a reminder people..
i told you on this topic i never gave that info to anyone.. except Cryptsy.
so...

Your appearance here is a typical example of "the pot calling the kettle black"
What happened? Was spoetnikcoin not listed at cryptsy?  You and BitJohn were such a close friends.... (see link below)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=833442.msg9323172#msg9323172

It was then that I realized that cryptsy was runned by scammers.. why would people working for Cryptsy otherwise take your ideas serious Huh ...(see same link).
A year ago one could recognize the cryptsy scammers by their cryptsy logo in their avatars. Unfortunately a lot of them (including spoetnik has changed their avatar).

Edit:
I saw in this thread also a few references to CAPS (a coin created by Mullic and called by many an "in house cryptsy scam coin" and scammed by BitJohn). In the following thread some background information about CAPS:

Your timeline doesn't make any sense. Not aware of anything last night in spite of being on IRC last night, but got wind of the theft via a customer (mysterious to us, not you) late in the day today, popped in here to let us know that you now know what's up and are no longer employed, but now only assuming that you're not employed by what you've read but not served any official docs stating such. Let us guess: Paul Vernon locked the site after your shift ended on Friday to make sure you were paid for a full day's work. Are we close in that regard?

I may be an idiot, but at least I don't give myself eggnog enemas. Let me rephrase that. I may be an idiot... (new punchline pending).

Its a credibility thing man why did so many see the problems with crptysy yet, the EXPERT was clueless. How do you expect anyone to buy that?

I knew something was wrong, but didn't know what. I gave my employer the benefit of the doubt and believed them and apparently it was the wrong decision. Hindsight is always 20/20 man. Even if I wanted to, there was no way for me to access our own financials to look.

I tried my best to hold on as long as I could hoping something good would come of it but it didn't.

What dedication.  You tried your best and hung on until the very end, claiming you had no idea.

A true hero.

If you work somewhere and can't tell things are off, you're either willfully ignoring facts in front of your face, or you're just an idiot. I don't know you so I won't take a guess as to which.

I only knew things were off the last couple of months since these issues started. I had no idea what it was so I gave my employer benefit of the doubt. They said it would be fixed and I believed them. I had no idea if it was technical or financial. At the end of the day, I still had to do my job and it wasn't anything to do with this shit, believe me. I threatened to resign not long ago if I didn't hear something. I tried my best to hold on as long as I could hoping something good would come of it but it didn't. Anyways, I guess it is a bunch of shoulda-woulda-coulda's. I'll do my best to try to help in coin theft investigation, but at this point that's all I can do.

So.. You just lied - You won't actually quit over being fucked over like this? You're going to actually HELP find the coins? FFS, what a phony all you "cryminals" are. LOL.

Why would I not help look for the coins, I feel it is really the only thing to do at this point. How would me not helping find the coins help the community at all? I'd be a bigger asshole if I just turned my back.
