Well, I disagree. Great things do need advertising nowadays and we all know that.

Just name one thing which is great and we know it without advertising. I mean a human-made thing not one of the bounties of Nature of course.

If we do not advertise bitcoin, the adoption will be slower.

If we do not educate people about bitcoin, advertising would be worthless.. We need to make the image of bitcoin more fun or entertaining + advertise it's pros.

The education comes with the advertisement, so it isn't a concern.

No. That's bragging. We don't want to come off egotistical or arrogant.

i dont know how much advertising is going to help out. the thing that will draw people in is a rapid and steady rise in price. we can do this with something like the willy bot or be patient (and honest) and let the adoption cycle continue like it has been all along. nothing sells success like success.

Besides, I'm the only one that's making fashion merchandise here. I suggest everyone else should come up with their own ideas and stop trying to take other people's ideas...think about it. If you do what everyone else is doing, that's automatic competition. You want to put out a product or service that is 100% different. Something that's never been suggested or done before.

For example: I am also sculpting handmade bitcoin Gangster chains soon. Never been done, and will sell pretty quickly. Come up with your own plan, please.

Lol, it's always good to have some kind of competition in the market, and it's pretty inevitable if there is a company or a person making a good amount of profit off an idea, there will competition to face soon enough.. no one is going to allow you to have the market all to your self.  What you are asking is to have a monopoly on the "bitcoin clothes" area, so you can jack up the prices whenever you want, and say "I'm the only person doing this, so if you want said product, you must buy from me."

You know you are selling to a bunch of nerds right? If there are people genuinely interested in getting "Gangster chains" for their bitcoin collection, at the most it will probably be two or three people, and those people will only probably buy one...

Who said it's for you people? It's for everyone outside of bitcointalk so I can help make Bitcoin appeal to people other than nerds. If you want this currency to grow, think outside the box.

Also, competition is not good at all. It keeps you from putting food on the table if the next person makes better items or sells at lower prices than you do. You will constantly be forced to drop your prices until you are giving your items away for practically nothing.

Also, people won't purchase anything they think is unreasonably priced, whether or not you're the only one making the item.


In short: Do your own thing. Stop trying to be like everyone else. I brought something to the table that was different from what the rest of you bring, so it made me stand out. I think TV is still very powerful actually. In the future, we could make a TV advertisement of Bitcoin. I would help getting it out there. Paypal has a TV advertisement and they are marketing Paypal as some new cool way to pay with a smartphone... they know the big B is out there. But its still too soon to worry about advertisement, we must perfect the software first.

Advertisement is very hard. Bitcoin is not a product, not everyone would be interested to try something out of their comfort zone. Most ads displayed are about everyday stuff. Bitcoin would be a currency that is not backed by anything and not everyone would take the risk and try it out.

Bitcoin is backed by math, it's the price that can fluctuate, but you will never lose the BTC on your wallet. To the contrary, you can lose the money you have in your bank because it's not really yours.

Since there not a single company that owns the bitcoin,
It should be funded normally by third parties that use bitcoin.
Like coinbase, other exchanges and other services that accept bitcoin as a payment method.

It would be an initiative or a voluntary work since there are no central hubs in bitcoin in which we could ask money for this kind of advertisement. It would be a community effort since it is us, the community who will benefit from this if it nets us positive results.

Couldn't this be simply solved by changing the tax model?

Get rid of income tax / tax on your savings and just increase the tax on goods. Seems simple to me and saves a lot of work.

They cannot tax on saving if you own bitcoin in your own wallet.

There will be consumption (goods and service) tax and property tax.

in the future if bitcoin became adopted everyone i'm sure they will put a tax even on your cold storage, you will be forced to declare your bitcoim

they can do this when they see you spend them, they would think that you have more, and at that point you must declare everything, exchanged for fiat ro not

I was just wondering how would the government be able to track your transactions up to the very last bit? They can force us to declare everything, but that doesn't mean that they will be able to watch every single thing we do with our bitcoins.

My guess would be that we no longer need governments, But it's going to take way more than 10 years for that to happen. Governments are centralized institutions after all.
