I agree, Bitcoin has so much potential its ridiculous. As soon as the cartels, catch on to Bitcoin it will add 100's of millions into the Bitcoin economy. Think about it, Columbia cocaine producers get a payment of bitcoins from mexico, no need to try and smuggle money through mexico into columbia.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

bla..bla... bla... it determines my current feelings, bitcoin makes me frustrating but interesting to learn.
the price of gold that looks just can be monopolized certain parties, let alone the bitcoin that is not visible.
I realize this technology does not always exist, because it must be replaced with new technology.
I can not imagine if the bitcoin price becomes $ 10,000 by 2017 and maybe 2020 to $ 50,000 a pop. Shocked

june 05, 2011 is a long time when you think from 10 $ to $ 10,000, I'm curious about you?
are you a conjurer?  Grin

I'm not aiming to be a millionaire or even considered "wealthy" I only want to be able to help cover bills etc, hopefully in the future I might be able to help pay for my first car, who knows.

As I admire some of your passions that you guys have for Bitcoin, investing everyone dollar you own/make into Bitcoin could leave you in a very bad financial situation. If I can pressure you to not do this because I already pay enough taxes and I'm sick of paying for Welfare cell phones for undeserving fucks!Do a percentage of your income.  You could relate this percentage to what you would spend at a bar, or would you normally invest in your 401k or into stocks.   That money isn't really needed to keep you alive right now.

No doubt that bitcoin has delivered many successful and wealthy people, now they are in the top 100 richest people of the world and I'm sure there will be many new rich people from bitcoin, and I certainly hope that being a part of a new wealthy elite.

It's almost two years later and I stand by everything I said, with two exceptions:1) There can be more than one cryptocurrecy if they use different proof-of-work. This is one of the points unk was trying to make. He was right, I was wrong. This is why I did not foresee the rise of litecoin. However, for psychological reasons I believe bitcoin will always be the gold to litecoin's silver.
2) Speculating on bitcoin because you believe the price will rise does produce wealth, and does not merely represent a wealth transfer, for the reasons Terpie was arguing - it signals that others ought to take a look. They benefit from this because bitcoin actually is the future of money.

http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/

After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?
Congratulations, your wish has been realized. Bitcoin has topped $20,000 in the past few months. I think this price is incredible to people a few years ago. Many people have sold bitcoin as a millionaire. Their financial situation has improved. I believe that the price of bitcoin will continue to rise, and it is still a good time to buy bitcoins.

Bitcoin speculation is entirely productive, anyone saying otherwise does not understand price signaling information. When you speculate on a commodity like Bitcoin, you are in effect increasing demand for that commodity, which raises the price, which signals to ALL market participants that there IS economic demand for this commodity. You are in effect telling the world that 'yes, you believe in this technology' and are effectively paying the miners that maintain the network for their work. This also encourages enterprise developers, increases mining activity, etc. This is critical for any tech in its infancy.

The price increase that happened some time ago has made many people successful and become rich, please calculate the profit if you have 10,000 btc at the price of $ 10k, whereas 9 years ago they bought 1 btc no more than 1 dollar.

Another factor to consider is that, by accident or design...and possibly some combination...it has proven cumbersome, time consuming, and expensive to obtain BTC in exchange for USD. The exchanges that have managed to stick around have had their share of mainstream banking hassles, security problems, and who knows what kinds of other internal pressures. I think it quite possible that were there another significant price rise of BTC, there may be a corresponding increase in difficulty and danger in obtaining control of them. That paranoia, although so far unfounded, existed in my mind a year ago and induced me to expedite my acquisition of BTC. At this point I've no complaints

It's funny to see that this message was written 7 years ago. Much has changed since then, but bitcoin has lived up to our expectations, and the people who invested so long ago are indeed already rich.

Last year's price hike made all bitcoin holders optimistic that someday bitcoin will be used globally, with global use the bitcoin price becomes so expensive that it becomes a new wealthy elite.
