Melo could still get a deal but I think he should take a non-guaranteed deal, that way he would take the minimum and than if the team doesn't want him they can just waive him and not even pay him because it would be a non-guaranteed deal. Howard took a deal like that in Lakers, its risky for the player but Howard had to show people he still got something to offer, Melo could do the same as well, Lakers could actually be a good place for Melo because he was good friends with Lebron and the team lacks SF but makes up for it by playing other people on SF position.

Salary is not the case. They can even offer above the minimum or will not take Melo on a veteran contract, in other words, the usual contract. Their concern is Melo's supposed behavior and pride. Other teams might think he will destroy the chemistry of their current roster.

Remember that Melo's journey to OKC and HOU is not that good. And the fact that the closest rumor which is LeBron James will push Melo to the Lakers didn't happen, I think it gives more reasons for other teams not to sign him. And later on, being rejected at Team USA and that's it. Melo even turned down his pride and wants to accept any role, contrary to what he wants, because he really wants to play. Some superstars also support him.

But after that, still, no clear signs that a certain team will sign him. All is just a rumor with no progress.

I doubt they will risk by putting Thompson in playoffs, dude had a serious injury and one of the best defenders in the league, in order to keep his lateral movement going he has to recover really well and I doubt they will have a big chance to win the ring this year so there is no reason to force Klay to come back and play for just 10 games or whatever he can play.

True, I think the chances are low this season. They need Thompson. I'm not doubting D'Angelo in my statement but, Thompson is more of a shooting guard if Russ will take Thompson's place in the meantime.

He won't be ready and just out of a new injury with no game shape at all, of course he would be better than any other person they will play but its a risk that is unnecessary if you ask me. Can they do it? Sure. Should they do it? I don't think so. Klay should relax until next season and come back fresh and get his speed up slowly at the start of the season and get better until the end of the season to make a difference in playoffs.

They probably can do it if a miracle could happen between D'lo and Curry. Not to mention, they have Cauley Stein that is a traditional center and Draymond Green. Two of the know NBA players now are Jeremy Lin and Lance Stephenson.
Others are Brandon Bass and Ty Lawson et al.

I guess they are really trying to pull more NBA players for tickets to sell and also if there is a pay per view.
They are paid quite well and this guys needs a job that would pay for their necessities.
Unlike the NBA you will just get 5 to 6 digits for being a bench player while in China there is a chance to be a star and be paid better in the long run.

He is currently playing in CBA and his stats are decent. It's JUST 40 points per game only with 9.3 assists and 6 rbs per game. That's quite big even though he's pretty small for his size.

That's the point. For the love of this game, aside from being paid with your regular salary, you also wanted to still being known as a good player and be an inspiring individual who will continue playing this game even not in the main league where everyone was dreaming, but instead being benched for the rest of your time choosing to play outside will be a good option for anyone who wanted to showcase their talents. Lets face it, the league have a big competition around, so instead of trying harder, best to choose for another option.

It's obvious that Lakers is on a rebuilding last year was probably just an experiment and now we are going to see new sets of players and they don't see Stephenson a perfect fit to the franchise so that's understandable.

So he move to CBA, good for him, the success rate of ex-NBA players moving to CBA is high so I'm expecting Lance to be a true superstar there, a stature he didn't got from NBA.

I don't think that Lance could play ball as he used to when he was in Pacers. He's a great ball handler, good shooting, plus he's even makes the game even funnier. I love watching him but, I guess he belongs to CBA now just like Michael Beasly.

Looks to me like the Achilles injury is eating him.
He had been been telling dramatic statements for a month now.
I have never seen a player this much busy to social media and interviews. He had nothing to do. He is resting.

There is no "more money" in overseas, if you are a Jeremy Lin type of player that is not wanted by the league right now sure you can make more money compared to none here, however there is no money to be made in China like the ones in USA.

We are talking about people who pull in 40 million dollars a year at their peak only from their NBA contracts and with the endorsement deals it can reach as high as 100 million a year for them, China can't even begin to afford that, they would literally have to pay taxes all together as a nation to pay something like that let alone somehow make a profit from a player that caliber coming there. Hence, only players they get is players who will not get those type of contracts in NBA and instead of signing the minimum they go to China.

He was a great player but the team signs a player based on its current status.
We cannot forget his contribution to the USA basketball as he also lead in winning in the international tournament like FIBA and olympics IIRC.

That's why veterans like to help him because of his status and contribution in the past, but team are getting a player based on what he can offer to the team, this is just purely business and nothing is personal here.

Agreed. During Lebron's prime, I saw how 250+ pounds player trained  to have great agility and speed plus good court vision. Infact, I see some of Lebrons quality resembles with Zion. There were some rumors that Lebron will start at PG for the Lakers in the upcoming season. Something that we dont see often in any basketball league.
Curry on the other hand, change the game so much, specifically with three point shooting range. I saw a lot of young guys mimicking Currys 40-50 ft. 3pt shoot attempt lol.
