Glad to hear that Boban Marjanović is sticking around with a 1 year deal to play on the Rockets. He’s funny.

Good for him, but they can't really utilize him a lot; his minutes are dropping, so I don't know. Despite his size, I think he might not last much longer in the NBA. The Rockets might be his last team in the NBA. I hope he will be able to be more effective in helping a rebuilding Rockets.

By the way, how much did he make for this contract? I didn't see the figure in the news I read regarding this matter.

With how the game is being played now, I agree that he might not last for long, though I'm glad that he is still able to get a contract and
still be able to play with the Rockets, but for sure his minutes will be lessened.

Aside from his height, there's nothing else, as his speed is surely far from those prime big men that may attack him or will compete against him inside.

Just a simple entertainment to see the living giant continue playing more on how the coach will give him the opportunity to play.

He isn't paid much, so the Rockets could still accommodate him. Maybe he provides inspiration to the team because he is a funny guy. According to reports about his salary last season, it was only less than $1 million, as seen here: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/houston-rockets/boban-marjanovic-17984/.

So, nothing special in terms of salary. What made the fans happy is that we can still see Boban Marjanovic, the enemy of John Wick. Smiley

Most provably that will happen since NBA evolves and many teams doesn't need traditional big man anymore. If he's minute still dropping next season and he cannot contribute to the team maybe we can see this big guy getting waived.  But let see if coach will use him since they are rebuilding and might he will get a spot on the process they made.

He is a veteran now, so his contribution will probably be more on guiding the young roster and leading them off the court. He may have very little time on the court, but his leadership will be big help for a rebuilding team.  I did not see any reports on the actual contract and it is not in spotrac yet but his contract last season was $807k. I am assuming it is within that range this year as well.

Reports from the Bay Area saying that the Warriors may actually be looking to start Chris Paul when the season kicks off. That means they could have a lineup of CP3, Steph, Klay, Wiggins, & Draymond out there. Besides never winning a tip again, I’d imagine they would be dominated on the boards by bigger teams but their 3 point shooting would be crazy. Will be interesting to see their first game.
They going to play the load management game with CP3? There's no way he will be able to play more than 50 games in the season IMO. He's near retirement and everyone knows it.

I think so, it is very common nowadays. And if not, he will get injured and will be forced to sit anyway.

Yeah, gonna be nice to see how CP3 will fit on the Warriors roster. Yeah, I know there is no Looney in the lineup, but I guess the Warriors wants to have a fresh start already since Jordan Poole has left and so their big 3 and now with the addition of CP3 as the point guard and it will relieved Curry of the duty as the point guard. And it might be good for him the long run.

But it still the question on how CP3 will play as we all know that he is no longer getting any younger and maybe be prone to injuries as well in this season. So we will see how the adjustments will be done by Steve Kerr with his new starting 5.

Small-ball lineup again, with no legitimate center, so they need to ensure their offense is very dominant. Since they are smaller, they are quicker as well and can easily switch or double-team the big men of their opponent to disrupt the shot. On paper, this doesn't look good, but the Warriors are adept at this. They have used this strategy and have won championships against the Boston Celtics, so I kind of trust Coach Kerr with this strategy.

It will be interesting to see if the US can also defend its gold medal in the Olympics next year. The US's most prominent basketball stars usually play only during the Olympics which is why they continue to dominate it through the years while ignoring the FIBA World Cup.

I guess I'm gonna be placing my bet on the USA here.

The US will be very difficult to beat during the Olympics. They will be bringing to Paris their experienced and more proven superstars like Jayson Tatum, Steph Curry, and many more. But I actually feel bored if no teams are capable of giving them a close game. Maybe the Canadian team earned their experience this FIBA and will play better in Paris next year. Serbia will also have around half of their lineup from the NBA including Jokic. The French team will also play at home along with Wembayama who's used to FIBA type of basketball.

I am expecting it will happen, though. In fact, I have seen some articles online that LeBron is also interested in playing in the Olympics. With his leadership, I think Team USA would perform better. The problem with the young Team USA that was sent to compete is that they don't have a good floor general on the court and a veteran who could help the team stay calm under pressure. They relied heavily on their talent, so they were outsmarted by Germany, who had a great floor general in the name of Schröder.

Yes, I can imagine the struggles of Steve Kerr and Erik Spoelstra calming down their young roster while at the same time establishing good chemistry in a short period of time. Maybe that young roster can win in a long season because they are young, athletic, and have the stamina but the FIBA World Cup is a few-week event so most of the athletes if not all are expected to play at their very best.

Lebron is trying to make history then if he is indeed playing in Paris. I also favor the USA to win but once again I won't be surprised if they will also fail since many countries are also stepping up which makes the event even more exciting.

They have lost in the FIBA World Cup and didn't even win a trophy or medals, so this Olympics will surely be taken seriously as they cannot afford to mess up. You know, when an NBA player is declared as MVP in the league, they used to call them the best player in the world, or if the team wins a championship, they call it the best team in the world. So, they really believe that they are the best in the world, which they should prove in the Olympics.

But it still the question on how CP3 will play as we all know that he is no longer getting any younger and maybe be prone to injuries as well in this season.
One thing I like about CP3 is he could control the tempo of the game with his passing and dribbling. He also has a pretty good jumper so the age is probably not a significant factor when he's around many shooters and slashers.

Quote
So we will see how the adjustments will be done by Steve Kerr with his new starting 5.
I prefer a younger athletic big over Draymond as starting 5 so CP3 could have more options.

That is indeed a good point. As recently it's been argued, what world championship?(for the nba title) Of course the best players of national teams are usually NBA players, but not always. I see USA being at the 4th place in the world cup as a slap in their face. Even they lost to Canada, which is a usual joke in the US. They are not the best in the world if they don't bring out their best players. And even then it is not easy. Most of us must have seen the Redeem Team documentary. If it wasn't for Mamba's mentality, maybe they would have lost at that time too. Even with the best players it is not easy for USA.

The Warriors doesn't have much option this time but to utilize what they have because either way, they need CP3's help while he's still with the team because it won't benefit the team if they will let him stay in the safe side just to keep him away from harm. Moreover, this is just an experimental phase while the season is still young but let's expect that there will be some adjustments as the season drags on.

I agree, I mean this kind of style might not turn out great if it's another team, not to underestimate about that one, but we're talking about the Warriors here who got Steve Kerr thinking what is the greater good for the whole team and I also trust him if his main choice is a small ball line-up because that is also the strength of their team.

Any opposing team will find it hard whom to guard the most because if they're going man to man, it won't suffice as they need to double team these guys because they are also hard to guard. But double team has its own downside because the other player will be left unguarded which is kind of risky specially this team who can really shot everywhere.

CP3 playing time to time makes sense, plus if they can put him in the games early on the season, even if he doesn't see the end of the season they could build a team that would handle the early season part easily and win some games, get ahead, and then CP3 could rest a bit and play less games and then end the season stronger.

What I think will happen is that CP3 will probably get about 20-25 minutes per game for about 30 or so games the start, and then he is going to start playing 50% of the other games, which would be about another 20 or so, and finish the season with 50 games like mentioned but at least be well rested for the playoff time. Their small ball line up could definitely be decent if they adjust well.

They need to make the most of it, they've paid him a certain amount of contract and that's why it should be seen where the money has gone for.
Well, if that's the worry that they will not utilize him to the full potential, they should have hired him when they were too worried about that. But again, we're all speculating and everyone has good points about CP3 whether to be used wholly or they'll need to be careful on how he's going to use him for some time. Anyway, if it's just me, I'll make sure that I'll be able to get the benefit that the contract that I paid for him.

They will start the season by having some experiment because they need it even if they have managed to build some plans during the training camp. They still need to execute those said plans in-order to know if it will really work against any other team and instead of letting Klay, Curry and CP3 play together, I guess Kerr will make it by pair so that they will be safe if in case either one of the said three will be burned out, we know that they cannot have those incident together as they cannot afford it.

Anyway, what we have right now are just mere speculations because the Warriors are somehow a mystery to us. We will know about it more as the season will commence.

^ Well, he is already 38 years old. I don’t think it is going to be realistic to ask for a really good performance from him at this age. The team will have to use him accordingly. And the team will also have to be careful while using him because at this age, it is very easy to actually get injured. 20 minutes on average per game does seem to be a good idea. But of course, it is going to be situational.

I can see this happening as well.  I figured 15-25 a game some he might only see the first half  or something.  At that age you can't lean on him for lots of minutes nor would you want to run a cp3/klay/steph for stretches.  I think he is gonna go out there with the 2nd team to run that squad.  Then start blending them in later in the year.

Yes, this is also what I'm seeing, perhaps starting fight but will go full 12 minutes on the first quarter. And then take some rest in the middle, could be good though that him and other experience players are all in in the last 4 minutes of the game and I'm expecting Steve Kerr to do that. He knows that importance of a good point guard in dying minutes of the game specially if the game are close.

So used sparingly in the first quarters and let CP3 warm up. And if the game needed his veteran leadership, then he will go to finished the game in some stretches. I think he did this to Phoenix Suns as well as they know how crucial it is to Paul to have at least a good rest before the 4th quarter.
