Looking at the pictures of yesterday’s workout with the Warriors, it appears like they are are more concerned with Dwight Howard’s conditioning than his basketball skills. I think this is a good sign that he will be a Warrior next season. Usually during these workouts you see a lot of basketball drills and less conditioning workouts. Unless Dwight did something inappropriate yesterday (entirely possible) I think we’ll see a deal announced soon.

Phoenix news is reporting that the Dallas Mavericks made a trade offer to the Phoenix Suns for DeAndre Ayton but it apparently was a very bad offer so they declined. I’m actually glad they did and hope they hold onto him. I think Ayton was a big part of their run for the Finals and with a new coach I’m expecting him to have a big year.

And I don't know who Dallas Mavericks offer though, I mean they already lost some of their good players when they acquire Kyrie, so I doubt that they still have some to offer in the trade.

Good that Ayton remain with the team, I think what he needs is motivation and not criticism as what his former coach do to him. And with a solid line up already, I don't think that the Suns needs to messed up everything as they need Ayton, just like when they had a good run in the finals years ago against the Bucks.

Deandre Ayton has been in trade rumors for the past years and it surprised me since he's playing well in Phoenix. But there are critics that he should be producing more as a top 1 pick and dominate the game. Maybe his potential as a player is limited. But he is still young and can be developed.

But it could be that Phoenix is looking for something that values more. I just checked Ayton's contract and he is paid an average of around $33 million. Jusuf Nurkic has lower but nearly the same output as Ayton and is only paid an average of around $16 million yearly.

The skills are definitely there; he was a superstar during his prime. But he is aging now, already 37 years old, so he is not the same player anymore. However, if the team knows how to utilize him, he could be a significant factor for the team. His wide body could be very useful for Curry in setting screens, and he can also be physical inside in grabbing rebounds. In addition, CP3 would make him even better, so he better be in peak condition, as he might be the key to the Warriors' success this season.

Also, I've seen him in the playoffs, like when the Blazers were playing against the Nuggets, and it's evident that he couldn't effectively stop Jokic. So, in terms of defense and maturity in the game, I would lean towards Ayton. But I understand that teams involved in a possible trade look at how valuable the players they acquire will be, and they wouldn't agree to it if they didn't see benefits. At this moment, I would say it's a crucial decision.

I think before this news came out, there were was a rumor last year specially on how the Bulls was not able to get over the first round of playoffs, despite having a good tandem in Lavine and DeRozan, that Lavine is not happy and so he might want a trade.

But in this case, Damian Lillard said he wants Miami his as his preferred destination though. And not sure if Portland is willing to have a 1:1 trade here or if Lavine also wanted to be with Portland.

At the end of the day even if Dame wants to go to Miami but if the management deals with other teams and he's willing to put there, he will just have to be obliged, right? Or he's got the right to decline that trade. Like for example this deal trade with the Bulls is agreed.

I would say the Blazers will reject all of the Bulls' offer for sure.
The Heat has better assets compare to the Bulls, and yet they didn't make a deal with them. What are the assets Chicago has? Lavine? Hardly an all-star caliber anymore. Vucevic? Who will be their center if they will trade him? After those 2, they don't have any attractive assets anymore that will make the Blazers trade Dame. Overall, I would say Miami would be a better team for Dame than Chicago.

They might not have that much but some support players could also be dealt with upon for this trade if ever this happens. But again, this is just a rumor and we'll never know until a deal settles if it's with Miami or Bulls or any other interested team.

@OgNasty I mean he is 37 years old. So people are definitely going to be worried about his conditioning. At the same time, basketball skills are also very important. Basketball skills are actually more important I will say. But both skills go hand-in-hand. One is pretty much useless without the other. Especially when we are talking about playing basketball. He was definitely a great player during his prime. But at this age, they are definitely not going to expect that kind of performance from him. If he is able to provide what they are expecting from him, I don’t think there will be any problems.

And I agree with @Distinctin that for him to be useful for the team, he will have to be in great physical condition.

I guess it's hard to find  pieces for the other team to trade for a veteran superstar who most likely not going to make any difference if not being surrounded by another star or an excellent role players. Can't deny that Dame is not capable of leading a team to a championship, he'd be a great addition to any team who's already built to compete in the playoffs.
It's just ridiculous to think that some veteran superstars are now desperate to have a ring, bad thing is they'll create a drama to make their way out of their respective organisations lol.

I am not entirely sure if it was all about his issues or anything but if he had any issues at locker room, that is still a valid reason not to get him as well. Doesn't matter if he was an "elite" player, to be fair at that age I highly doubt that he could be elite, I watched his last season at NBA and he was nowhere near elite, but he was basically carrying some minutes so that the real center would relax.

However, if he was only let go and couldn't find a place in the NBA because of his personality or anything like that, then I am guessing that he is not going to end up with anything that would be any different here as well. What if he has some sort of locker room issues and ruins something perfectly running so far.

I do understand why Dame would want out of Portland, they are not really doing all that great and it would make sense to see him leave, but I do not understand why Lavine would want to leave, they do have a good core there and could do fine. If Lavine leaves, with Dame at the helm along with Derozan, that team could be a very good team. Lavine would just be a tank commander at that point and leave after his contract is up, so its not really a good trade for him. I still think that Dame and Blazers could just come to an agreement to cancel the contract, its allowed, they do not have to pay him if he agrees, and then Dame can go wherever he wants but take a pay cut instead. Not many teams or players do that, I think it should be considered.

I'm already expecting that. Not by the Golden State Warriors just want to give a chance for Dwight Howard or offer him a veteran contract, but simply, they don't need him as part of the roster as they always have a flexible roster since then with no big man on the lineup. I also doubt that even the Warriors will sign him, he will just be a bench warmer and mostly do clapping around on the bench.

The Golden State Warriors have built by small lineup since then. Instead of giving their strength to the paint, they focused more on the outside shooting that's why they don't need a big man on their lineup. On the defensive end, it's not also a problem not having a big man as NBA today isn't that fully dominated by big man nowadays.

Dwight Howard should just enjoy being an import of the outside league and enjoy good money flowing to him before retiring.

If Portland Trail Blazers management cannot really find the right trade from the Miami Heat, they will need the help of another team to make a 3-way team deal or worse 4-way team deal which means shuffling all the players in the league to different teams.
And it looks like DeAndre Ayton is still not safe (after the Mavs and Suns disagreed) when that happens because he may become part of that huge deal as the Trail Blazers are still considering getting him.

I'm not familiar with the two names, but maybe they are more impressive that Dwight. And we all know that the Warriors loves to developed new players like in the case of Kuminga or even Wiseman (but they have to trade him).

So let's see if this is the right way for the Warriors, Looney, Draymond, and Saric.

It would seem that Howard was literally one step away from returning to the NBA, especially when there were rumors of Warriors veterans approving the idea of bringing Dwight into the fold.
It would be interesting to know what exactly went wrong, although I think either Howard failed to impress Warriors management during the interview process or he didn't accept the role he was offered.
I wonder if there are any other teams that might be interested in Howard.

Max Strus wouldn't vomeback to Celtics he's signing to Cavaliers this time around. And, it's not Michael Beasley tbh but Malik Beasley, was shocked to see the Bucks would be interested to Michael Beasley when he's already playing on the CBA and no rumors if he'll be back again though he play great there.
