Since AMC has moved to ActiveMining, has anyone else noticed that the 'My Value Analysis' part of the site doesn't have a record of any ActiveMining shares owned? I'm pretty sure if I purchase some shares in ActiveMining now, they should show up. It seems previous purchases when the shares were AMC seem to be the problem.

Cheers

Check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252531.msg2806020#msg2806020, Burnside addressed this. You can transfer the shares to yourself and set what you think the value was when you bought them, then the value analysis works again.

The whole point of the permanent withdrawal address is the safety of not being able to change it. If there was an easy way to change it, it'd defeat the purpose.

As a work-around (and one that potentially hurts the safety offered by the locked withdrawal address), you can create a new account, transfer the BTC there and then withdraw normally.

Careful, that may red-flag the withdrawal and end up with the newly created account locked.  (I've had to lock a few before because this method was used once to clean out a compromised account.)  Essentially if the account is new and the only transactions there are for withdrawal then it may get held up.  I'll probably even expand on this (soon as I have some time) such that newly created accounts are locked from withdrawals for a couple of days.

The official approach right now is to submit a reset request, but it is grouped in with the rest of the really sensitive stuff and thus has a 30 day wait.  Sad  https://btct.co/resetRequest

I've been thinking that we should do away with the permanent address locks when a user has 2FA enabled.  (we'd just require 2FA input to change the address.)  Thoughts?  Any gaping holes I'm missing?

I found a bug in the value analysis tab. Transferred shares don't show up under it, so it understates the portfolio.

If you are refering to converted AMC-PT -> ActM shares, read this. Otherwise I can only say: transfered shares do show up for me.

Great idea, added to the todo.

Thanks.

The listing of usernames from sender/receiver for transfered shares in API responses was already requested, but an addition or replacement for this came into my mind: maybe it could be helpful to generate unique ids for internal transfers which are shown to those who sent and received shares? I.e. "Your transfer id is #342342. 100 AM-PT shares were sent to burnside". With unique identifiers each transfer would be (obviously) very easy to identify. Wink

The transferrer has to plug in a value when the transfer is made.  It's on the todo list to let people plug in their own values.  Wink

I made a mistake when I did the AMC-PT mass transfer last night and did not plug in a value for the AMC-PT shares.  Though even if I had it would not have accurately reflected everyone's individual purchases.  Such is the unfortunate nature of the turn-in process.

I'll try to get the editing ability going soon.

Cheers.

The "Excessive wait trying to get lock on" problem really needs to get highest priority ASAP.

With now 106k BTC per month in trading volume, you can't tell me, that there is not enough money to ramp up capacities and put man hours into fixing these problems.

I hear ya.  We're making constant progress.  It was only a month or so ago when things were collapsing at 2,000 BTC volume and now we're handling 5x that some days.

Definitely a lot more work to go still.

Cheers.

Memcached can work wonders.

Trust me, 90% of the site content is in memcached.  Remember GLBSE?  That's what a site like this is like without memcached.   Grin

You cannot use memcached for authoritative data though.  IE, you can't use it anywhere in the trade process or with trade data because you have to be prepared for the possibility of server crash or memcached crash or memcached purge at any time.

The biggest slowdown right now is that we're double-tracking account balances while we try to implement new balance tracking.  We started a year ago using bitcoind to track accounts and balances, but as the db grew, it got really slow, so we're transitioning now to using an SQL server for the account balances.  That transition has been slow, as we've been trying to be extremely careful to make certain that the account balances match up between the two systems.  (and occasionally, due to things we're trying to work out, they do not...)

So the bitcoind wallet balances are still considered the authority, and we're working out the kinks in the new system so that we can make the SQL server the authority and retire bitcoind.

I hope that makes sense.  Wink

Cheers.

You could enable 2FA on trades (and put away the smartphone with GAuth or the YubiKey if needed).

so ive enabled 2FA like a good little boy should. is there any sensitive information being exposed by staying logged in like this?

additionally, there was a setting for allowing your profile to be publicly visible. any idea what that is?
