According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Here's a good calculator:  http://pivx.cryptonode.co/ - you can enter your current balance and down the bottom it tells you what returns you can expect from that amount.

Also I found the hardware unit that's in the PIVX ads: https://www.posnewland.com/product/all-in-one-smart-pos-terminal-machine-mht-v3/  - that's pretty cool.  It could be used with any Android based till software and I guess will probably use a modified version of the PIVX wallet software to integrate with some POS systems.

You can't mine PIVX, it's a 100% proof of stake coin now.  But it's a good question, and PIVX has a pretty unique take on it:

To get block rewards with PIVX, you can either run a masternode: https://pivxmasternode.org  - or just keep your wallet open to stake its contents.  The amount that comes out can be estimated with this tool, just enter the amount of PIVX you have.  http://pivx.cryptonode.co/

The big deal is: no expensive mining equipment, and no energy waste, because neither of these uses much PC power at all to run.  Also the coin doesn't set a limit on the number of coins, just on the rate of creation.  And that sets up an awesome cash flow tool that doesn't dwindle down to nothing with increasing difficulty.  As the number of PIVX in existence increases the rate of inflation reduces while the coin supply stays fixed.

http://pivx.cryptopool.io/ and https://prohashing.com/ you can mine and be paid out in PIVX. However like btct22 said you can not mine PIVX, also cryptopool is currently down with issues and both sites require ASICs.

Hello fellow pivians,

I hold 370 pivx for quiet some time and I am wondering, can i stake my pivx in any way for some pivx rewards? I am pretty newb about this so go easy on me. Grin

I stake with 400 coins and get about 3 blocks per month.

The staking calculator shows that I should get one block per month, but because not everyone is staking their PIVX and therefore with a lower difficulty you can find blocks more often Wink

Don't use Yobit.
They always answer "wallet needs update", even if there are no updates.
Don't expect support, don't use Yobit.

Zerocash is much better and upgraded version of zerocoin and why does PIVX implement an older version of algorithm.

"Zerocash improves on an earlier protocol, Zerocoin, developed by some of the same authors, both in functionality (Zerocoin only hides a payment's origin, but not its destination or amount) and in efficiency (Zerocash transactions are less than 1KB and take less than 6ms to verify)."

Zerocash is not trustless, it realize on somebody keeping the network private. That person or persons can also create coins out of nowhere without anybody knowing any better.

Dev's, I have read that PIVX broadcasts user ips and masternodes also retain a log of all users ip addresses. is this true ?

This is a good article that explains the difference between the two algorithms: https://zcoin.io/zcoin-and-zcash/
