There are so many altcoins out there that is very difficult to be smart and pick a good coin. I personally believe in bitcoin I also bought some creditbit at good price, i like their vision, now they are moving on ethereum platform and have some really cool stuff, hope i would gain more profit on long term.

Yeah too many alts make it difficult to select. Now I have been learning. I have not much knowledge of these new coins. But why the exchanges are not playing a role for the people. They can trade only those coins which are good and have necessary codes. Also They should Ban the Coins which are scams so people investments are save.

Certainly there is no need to have hundreds of altcoins out there... one of the problems with the existence of so many altcoins is that, in fact, this is something that confuses people with little experience in crypto. I would say that many altcoins exist for a good reason, because in fact there are projects that try to bring innovations capable of making the crypto space even better, many of these innovations could even be applied in Bitcoin sidechains in the future. I agree with you that exchanges should prioritize such projects and remove scam coins.

Will happen on its own... pos coins are at a dead end now (whats the latest btc core code of any coin using pos?) that  segwit code happened and bitcoin development diverges from the poorly written pos code that makes life a nightmare to manage upstream... so pow coins are left... the ones not merge mined will die easily because they arent secure.. so really you have a set of coins left.. and out of that only a few are innovative on top of bitcoin features.

I think that's plausible, there are even more developers that are linking their services with Ethereum. And smart contracts are becoming more popular nowadays so I guess ETH is really worth of buying.

So that is why ETH became competitive and now on the second list of most well known crypto currency. And of course because of the hard work of their developers it is now paid off. The crashes doesn't matter it is just scary for those newbie in trading. I do believe that they can remain on their place right now for the next many years.

Agree. The cryptocurrency markets are bloated with too many altcoins, which in turn, there are many which are just scams, as well as being pump and dump coins with no innovation nor promising development. But in the bright side, it helps reduce the load of Bitcoin by having separate blockchains, instead of having a single chain where everyone's transactions exist. If it weren't for those altcoins, then Bitcoin would've become much slower in transaction confirmations, as its network would be in full capacity.

Speaking of altcoins, I've remembered an NXT asset called Barr, which rewarded users by burning altcoins. That helped remove many altcoins from circulation, making them more scarce than ever before. I wonder if this project is still alive, by the way.

Nevertheless, it would be best to stick with good old alts like Litecoin and Dogecoin, and those which are actively developed like Ethereum and Ethereum Classic. Just sharing my thoughts.

Even there are many altcoin being rise in crypto world still we cannot easily determine if the coins are scummy, especially most of it are good in hyping or good in conversing with the community so many of them are being a victim by the scammers. But in the last there are few altcoin that has promising development project in the future, like Eth, Nem, Litecoin and etc.

Only etherium has a bright future and it will be more famous every year. Etherium is only existed for a year but its prices is very remarkable. However, the dev team do not know how to do and they seem can not protect Etherium from being attacked by hackers or other digital threat. Well, team will answer us which will be better

Yes exactly when compared to other altcoin monero has bright future. Really people has many good hopes on monero because admin is developing lot of things in back ground. Yes the price has increased to 20x since 2015, many people active trading monero and it has great future.

I want to pay some attention to NEM project. It is one of the best bockchains on the market still to be discovered in near future. Developers are hard working and community is strong, growing everyday. I have strong confidence that NEM will succeed.
As for other altcoins, there are many interesting projects and many scam-shit coins. We need time to sort the things out. I expect more projects to come in the future as they have advantage to learn from the mistakes of crypto pioneers.

Yes NEM is a strong coin. I have invested in it before and in July 2016 I withdrew when the price came up. But now its price went back down so I think it is safe to buy again and be invested in it. The percentage of it going back up is a higher than for it to go down.

Go for it, the value of that coin will go up again if a lot of us could support it.

the statement you made about the programming language is such a debatable one! and you will find many programmers disagreeing with you.
and about Lisk i have to say i was very excited about the project in the beginning but how things changed specially about the price has always disappointed me a lot.
i still hope it can change though.

I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.

Some say Litecoin is a sleeping giant, although I don't know it it's true 

Dash, Monero, Litecoin, & Etherium all seem promising, although I'd recommend taking investing smaller amounts into them if you do.

I've not really been into buying altcoins that much for the last 2 years or so but when I was I bought a little stack of the ones that were innovative at the time. Back then this was the thing to do and good returns were realized. These days Bitcoin alone has been doing a good job and I had been holding onto BTC for a longer time.
