I feel the current path Bitcoin is on is risking everything.  Transactions are getting too slow and expensive.   The use cases for Bitcoin are be limited by that.   

It used to be that Bitcoin had value because it was so much cheaper and faster to transfer to anywhere in the world in almost any amount.   What happens when that is no longer true?   I'm really struggling to see how the SegWit solution will fix this problem.   It appears that Bitcoin is being positioned into something much different than it was.   It used to be cool to buy your dinner with BTC, but it won't be so cool with it costs more to do the small transaction than the actual cost of the transaction.

government does play an important role in this regard. perhaps they were pretty scared with bitcoin volatility despite the fact that in my opinion they do not have to worry about it because if bitcoin is in use by many people then the hoarders will be more difficult to affect the price of bitcoin. it may be difficult for bitcoin to replace a strong currency like the dollar but there are some currencies has decreased quite dramatically, for example bolivar, the Egyptian pound, naira. perhaps people who use that currency would be trying to save their wealth by buy bitcoin or the other way. So i still think that may be bitcoin can replace some fiat.

I don't predict that Bitcoin will eventually replace the fiat currencies we are used to be utilizing for hundred of years. It can however be complimenting each other. The nature of Bitcoin right now is still in the "investment" stage...including its high volatility rate which can affect inflation if totally used to replace the fiat money. Bitcoin and fiat can go hand in hand and be complimenting each other but will not really be killing each other. Both have roles to play and they can be used both with ease and convenience. Plastic did not kill fiat money though it was predicted to be doing it many decades ago.
