cool, upgraded to hodlcoin-2.0.0-win64-setup.exe
Everything seems to work smooth, thanks guys  Smiley

Please explain this because I am new - I delete my old wallet then install the new wallet and overwrite the wallet.dat (then all is restored)? I have a lot of coins in fixed deposit. What happens if I just keep the V1 wallet - is that a problem?

The question after all is - who will keep mining if you get paid in one year ?

HOdlers. Exactly the people we want mining and HOdling the coin. Lots of people were mining and HOdling . . . now it's going to be easier for them as the dumpers leave.

lol, you're a funny guy.. I see you're a talented coder but you don't seem to be able to actually understand what this change means.

There always miners, hodlers and also dumpers or lets call them "sellers" and "buyers"..

Miners always mine for a profit, because they invest electric energy to mine, they have to pay bills and thats why they sell their coins sooner or later.
If you want to hodl lots of coins, you can simply buy them as someone will always sell them for you much cheaper than you were able to mine them.

No one would simply mine and hodl a coin, why would anyone do that ?! You could also then just make the coins never mature, so you can hold forever Smiley
Miners need to pay their bills, regardless if the solo mine or if the mine in a pool, it just makes no difference...
If you cannot send around your coins, why mine ?

A coin needs to be tradeable to actually "survive" - what happens now is that the currently mined coins before the hard fork will remain tradeable and all the
other coins mined later will remain untradeable for at least one year - if the price drops, everyone will stop mining and the coin will get delisted from the exchanges quite soon, don't expect it to be re-added after the 1 year period ...

However, if you only want to HODL - the price shouldn't be of matter at all for you.

I AGREE WHY HAVE THEY MADE THIS NEW RULE WHEN ITS SEEMS THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE COMMUNITY DO NOT APPROVE OF IT

I do but it doesn't matter because I also mine in a pool therefore I am evil.

Your sig has become an interesting irony:

Let me see if I understand this:

The idea of HOdlcoin is to get people to deposit coins and earn interest.

But this has backfired and miners aren't depositing coins to earn interest... So people who have coins on deposit are upset.
Now the people HOdlers have decided that the coin should hard fork and not pay out new blocks for 12 months. Ensuring the people who have money on deposit are protected...

BUT what happens if most of the coins are on deposit? There are only a few exchanges that list the coin.  If the number of trades goes down as it will for the next 6 months at least until people's TDs mature... What is the likelihood that the coin will get de-listed at some of these exchanges.

You need some people using/trading coins. They can't all be locked up in deposits.

Let me know if there is a flaw in my logic.

first thing first--> make bakup of je wallet
then download 2.0
make sure your wallet is closed --> wait for the closing it can take some time
if you sure your wallet is closed just install the 2.0
and thats it ......

There are still lots of coins that are not in term deposits. Plenty available for trading. Price swings will determine trading volumes more than anything.

What will happen in 2017 when all the current term deposit that have been lock way fo 12 months ....

Are we going fork the coin again to stop  pass hodler  from selling the coin and pushing the price down ? Huh Roll Eyes

we should make a vote

by my count just now, there is over 230K of quite dubious looking "anonymous" hash on the pools.
and there has always been volume moving on the exchanges.
ever since alcurex first listed the coin.
so roll on next weekend.
and let's hope we will be saying "au revoir" to those pool miners that have been unfairly mining and dumping HOdl -
day in, and day out. - making us all depressed! and worried!

NEVER delete your wallet.dat.

Its like throwing money into a fire.

DO backup your wallet.dat on a different hard drive/USB whatever.

For the upgrade just run the new executable. Now your updated. Easy peasy.

Mining, selling, buying is how coins get into the hands of people that don't care to or have time to mine the coin themselves.

Fork At Block 86000

There is a fork at block 86000 in accordance with the Nutocracy motion -
https://nutocracy.herokuapp.com/arguments/that-block-rewards-should-remain-unchanged-in-amount-but-required-to-be-hodled-for-a-period-of-1-year-https-www-reddit-com-r-hodl-comments-4qpx9g

From block 86000, miners will be required to HODL the block reward for a period of 1 year to create a valid block.
In anticipation of a reduced hashrate, the diff will be set to a fixed lower rate for blocks 86000 to 86025 and from there will adjust to the new hashing power of the network.

The release is being finalized, from there, new binaries will be compiled and released.

Hmm, I don't quite understand how this is possible ? Only pools cannot send the coins or even if I switch back to solo mining I cannot send the coins before one year goes by ?

I dont understand, why hodl is now trying to stop inflation for one year with locked coins at this timeframe? With this outlook, the hodl coin will be dead within 1 month! I dont see a healthy reason, why you did that?
Maybe you can convince me!
