What do you guys think of Turkish GP’s track?  I’m looking at Russel points finish at 2.75 but I was wondering if the track is more suited for Merc powered cars or not.  What do you guys think?  coinlocket$, you’re the guy who knows a lot more about F1 that the average BCT poster...  What do you think?

That surprised me, I don't expect Marquez on 1st, I guessed him on the podium as a 2nd or 3 but 1st podium is a great achievement, I follow him step to step repaired his performance, he is still fast but still not stable for handling on the bend for several months ago. Now, he was found him. I think Quartararo must be careful, maybe not for this year because hard for Marquez to catching up on the different points from Quartararo.

I'm not surprised at all since Marquez has great record in Grand Prix of America. To be frank I'm a bit disappointed with the race as it was a boring race for me. The gap between riders is just too much, Marquez was untouchable since start. I expected to see a tough race where most riders are overtaking other riders especially for the top places, but in fact there is no "shows" in the race.

Nobody had a chance against Marc in this race, even with the time Fabio pulled away and drove unhindered towards his 2nd place. The most interesting was the fight between 3rd to 6th place, in the rear field it would have been very exciting with many overtaking maneuvers, unfortunately nothing was shown by the international direction.

I predicted that Marquez would win, but I thought that we would get some tough competition for that but I was disappointed. Congrats to him for winning, but a pretty dull race. I wanted Quartararo to give a good fight, but it seemed like Marquez was miles ahead of his opponents. Fabio placed 2nd if I'm not wrong but I think he left all the hope to win at the later parts of the race.

Hard to answer, at this moment I can't see a dominant car but the leading change is based on the type of track.
This is a mixed track with fast straights.

It depends on tires for Pirelli too, if they are going with harder compounds Mercedes will work better.
The wheater could be rainy this year too.

I say Hamilton with Norris fighting if is dry, if it is wet Verstappen.

I am not sure if both those teams have enough money to make a big difference, but in a league where HAAS races, I do not doubt that any team could race as well. Honestly as long as you have "some" money to start, because starting up is the hardest part, then you could simply get famous names and sponsorships and you may end up hiring a guy like Mazepin, even if not exactly him but anyone like him, which would pay you to be on your team.

This is why I believe anyone with like 50 to 100 million dollars to start could start and just be horrible. As long as you have a team then you can keep being a horrible team and that would be enough for most F1 teams. Look at Williams, look at Alfa romeo, they are all horrible. All in all I would say Audi could be harder one since they do road cars, but Porsche always did fast cars so maybe that could translate well, who knows.

Haas wasn't always this bad, they did race for a while when they were not too bad. However financially F1 is a very expensive thing and not everyone who could put up 50-100 could end up racing, that would require you to find another mazepin that would bankroll the whole deal. It is quite expensive to keep it running, Haas started decently but since they didn't win anything, that cost them a lot to keep going and that is why now they do not spend as much and focus on getting paid instead.

I would say that the best thing for now would be car companies to get in and not race companies, audi and porsche seems like a good car company but do they have any experience in this field? Even a F2 team would be better than them at this point because they have some staff that knows what they are doing, starting from zero is always incredibly difficult until you find your footing.

Yes, Circuit of the America (COTA) is very friendly with Marquez. Actually I'm not sure he can reach podium one if it's the first race after recovering from injury. I think he has come back good, if you look at his performances from the previous races Marc seems to be getting better.
After overtaking Pecco actually racing was so boring. Marc was too comfortable in front of the time difference with Quartararo by more than 4 seconds. There is no overtaking exciting events in this race.

There are still 3 races of full 75 points up for grabs by Bagnaia and Quartararo for the championship.

Or does he just have to start from 10 or 15 places behind his actual qualifying ranking I am still not sure how the official rules are in this case. Either way, this could be a great chance for verstappen to strike back and also to get the lead in the championship back from hamilton. In the end the last race worked out quite well and lucky for verstappen. He started from the last position and finished second, he will be very happy with that and he got lucky that the rain set in a few laps before the race ended.
Let's see how lucky hamilton will be when he starts from the last position.

Before the coming race which is in Istanbul Park, Turkey, Toto Wolff confirmed that they are really thinking of swapping the engine of Lewis Hamilton's car not to fall behind Max Verstappen in the remaining races. They actually see this as a possibility, not for certain. Because they are aware of a very important thing also that Lewis Hamilton will start from the back of the grid and will have to race really hard to climb to as best place as he can. There is a high competition for the championship between him and Verstappen now. So, they can't accept very big loss of points here also. I wonder what they will decide to do.

I'm very excited about this now already as we are going to see a very special track also. This time, it is expected that the drivers will have much better track conditions as the officials are being very careful about it. However, it is expected to rain on the qualifying and race days both. Another interesting race might be waiting for us.

Hard to answer, at this moment I can't see a dominant car but the leading change is based on the type of track.
This is a mixed track with fast straights.

So that’s both Merc powered cars if it’s dry.  But I think it’s a crap shoot if it’s wet.  Who knows what could happen if it’s raining.

So...  If Merc powered cars are strong if it’s dry, would you say Russell could finish with points in this track?  And an argument could be made for Russell finishing way better than where he started if it’s raining too.

^ Well, what I think about the rain is that it was more of a skill based win compared to luck. Yes, maybe if the rain hadn't come, the results could have swayed towards Lando, but the rain somewhat helped Hamilton, but it also needs enough skill to drive in the wet track. And if Max can start last and finish 2nd, then Hamilton can do that too. I think that Hamilton is a better driver than Max, so maybe we will see a 50-50 fight between them in the next race.

If this rumor is true then Hamilton will start from the back of the grid and maybe this might be a golden chance for Verstappen to shine. But one thing to consider is, when Max got the new engine and started last of the grid, he finished 2nd, so taking Hamilton's driving skills into consideration, if he gets a better engine than the one he has right now, he might be deadlier in the next races. Pretty eager to see what kind of engine he gets and if he gets better with those.

I'm not sure that's good news. Last year even with light rain this track was slippy like ice. But race was really exciting. Though, after what happened in Spa, I'm scared to see such forecast. On the other hand, Istanbul track looks much safer to race in rainy conditions than Spa, so I hope they won't cancel race.

It is probably not still decided, many things in F1 is not fully decided until last minute because these are cars and cars are not guaranteed stuff and machines so you have to make sure you know what you are getting into. If there is a chance that Lewis could end up first or second in Istanbul with the current engine then they won't be changing it, and postpone it to another time when he has a penalty already or maybe just when they think engine can't take it anymore and needs a change.

However it is obvious that if they believe it is not going to work for this GP and he would be doing bad anyway, then using it now and changing so he would start at the behind but would have a brand new engine so nearly the same result but penalty already taken would be beneficial. In order to be guaranteed, they need to take a look at what is the situation, latest situation, on the current engine.

Personally, I wouldn't be averse to a rain race, I just find it more exciting but we'll see how it goes. Last year Mercedes was again very strong, with a changing weather the cards are reshuffled, it is again everything possible and a little luck is of course also required.

Yahh, same for me, even I love those rain-drenched races. Even the last rain race was also incredibly enjoyable. Lando Norris had the lead from the start to almost the last, until the rain started. I feel like Hamilton is a far better driver than anyone on the track while it's raining and he showed that that day by achieving the 100th win of his career something the great Schumacher even couldn't achieve. I love rain races, they add an extra bit of spice into the racetrack.
