Good news? Bad news?

More fun for us.

RAIN IS EXPECTED for Saturday 70% and Sunday 60%

Source: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=istanbul+weather

If it really rains, then I will be thinking of placing a bet on Hamilton to win highly. Because we all know that he is the king of the rainy races.  Grin  He can open a huge gap with the other drivers by his great experience on this track conditions. But he still has a very tough rival like Max Verstappen. He is also awesome whatever the conditions are. It is going to be a great race I believe. And I hope to see Verstappen being the winner.

I'm not surprised at all since Marquez has great record in Grand Prix of America. To be frank I'm a bit disappointed with the race as it was a boring race for me. The gap between riders is just too much, Marquez was untouchable since start. I expected to see a tough race where most riders are overtaking other riders especially for the top places, but in fact there is no "shows" in the race.
Many have predicted that, because America is like Marquez's home. He has good stats there, and it repeats itself. First 25 points for Marquez this year. This at least delays Quartararo's title this year.
For the next race there is a gap of 20 days, which is quite long. Maybe if Quartararo wins 1st place, then the title will definitely belong to Quartararo and Yamaha this year.

In the end the last race worked out quite well and lucky for verstappen. He started from the last position and finished second, he will be very happy with that and he got lucky that the rain set in a few laps before the race ended.
Let's see how lucky hamilton will be when he starts from the last position.

It's part luck of course, but also a large part is judgement, both personal and on the part of the team strategists. If a driver who is in the championship battle has to take a penalty and start from last place, a lot of thought will go into it to determine which is the best race do so... somewhere where overtaking is easy might be the logical choice.

@Cnut237 luck and mentality these are two important things which Hamilton will need if he wants to finish in the first place. Also I believe he’ll give a tough fight and this will make this race even more interesting to watch, but I won’t be too much disappointed if he doesn’t wins it.

Whater situation for Instabul.

80% rain Saturday

40% rain Sunday.

Sainz equipped the new engine as Leclerc did 2 weeks ago.
The engine has some new parts of the 2022 engine, they are testing it.

He will start form the last spot in the race.

Also looking at the stats, I can surely say that this will be enjoyable for me personally as I love wet weather races. They add extra excitement or should I say 'water' xD to the race and that serves as a refreshment for me personally. Let's see what Sainz can do with his new engine.

Starting last and winning the race is no easy task. With that said, I feel like Hamilton would be the person who can achieve that. We saw that Max did that last race, he got a new engine and started last but to my surprise, he finished 2nd. And if Max is able to do that, Hamilton should also be able to do that or at least finish in the top 3.

I'm not sure that's good news. Last year even with light rain this track was slippy like ice. But race was really exciting. Though, after what happened in Spa, I'm scared to see such forecast. On the other hand, Istanbul track looks much safer to race in rainy conditions than Spa, so I hope they won't cancel race.
It was slippy because I remember them putting a fresh coat on the track, it was basically a brand new track, like literally few days old, so the road had zero bumps and so forth and was pure without anything. This is not good for racing, great for regular driving but not good for racing, in racing you are so fast when you go that when the road is "perfect" then it is harder to stop in smooth road.

You need a bit of "damage" to the road basically cars going on it constantly to get it older, in order to make the cars have a better grip instead of having smooth contact which makes them slippery.

I remember cars went on that track all night before the race in order to make it less slippery. In any case this year should be different unless they did the exact same thing again, which after so many complaints they probably didn't, and that means it could be better. Rain however could be a bit of a problem again for most cars, after all rain would remove all that improvement and make it slippery again. Between fast corners, smooth road, and rain, it could be very "entertaining" race with many crashes and chaos.

It looks like semi-rain and sun at the same time. One of those days where it is sun shining bright like crazy and then it rains for 10 minutes like insanely then it shines like crazy again. Those are the hardest ones, if it is a wet track then it is a wet track, if it is a dry track then it is a dry track however when it is like 40+ laps dry, yet 10 laps wet and so forth then it becomes a big challenge, all of those overtakes during that period, all those strategies on the pit stops, everything becomes a big deal.

Look at how Max literally went from being 20th to 2nd thanks to confusion on the rain and the level of how much it would rain, that changes so much. I hope that it would be the same, it makes the races insanely more fun to watch.

Sainz will start back of the grid for this GP just like Leclerc did in Sochi.
He will get the upgraded version for the engine.
Let see how improved it was.
We didn't see a lot of it last race but Leclerc managed to stay behind Verstappen for a quite of a while and Verstappen had a smaller back Wing configuration which gave him less Downforce so he was faster in straight and slower in corners.
But for the rule of changing engines is harsh especially when we have 22 races this year and 3 engines is not enough.
Why can’t they change the penalty up a bit, I agree there needs to be something in place to stop wealthier teams just throwing engines at the job for increased performance but what about allowing a free engine change if the maximum mileage has been achieved.

Indonesia has good news that in 2022 it will carry out Moto GP in the "Mandalika" circuit, for Moto gp fans now can watch it in their own country.
This is in the 2022 calendar.

Thanks for sharing, the provisional calendar for 2022 looks very good, unfortunately Brno is again not included, but maybe next year I'll go to Sachsenring and see the race there live, is also a very nice track for the motorcycles.

I don't know which is the better tactic in this unpredictable rain. That you bet on very high odds players hoping that their safety and slow driving wins the race as others will crash out?

Or just completely stay away and enjoy the spectacle? I think we'll prepare for a topsy turvy outcome no matter what.

Hopefully this schedule does not change or if it changes, the Mandalika circuit remains a racing plan in 2022. It looks interesting that Mandalika is the second race after the opening. I am indeed from Indonesia so I support MotoGP to be in my country, although it seems impossible to watch because it is quite far from me and costs a lot.
Last news  the circuit is still under construction, in August they had reached 92 percent. Even then, it has passed a virtual assessment conducted by Gregorio Lavilla as World SBK Executive Producer and World SBK Circuit Relations Senior Manager Eva Jirsenska.

We can’t really judge after FP1.  That’s why I don’t really watch these until FP3 when the results somewhat starts to matter.  That’s when the car is tweaked mostly right for the driver to go to quali then some small tweaks for the race.

But what I see based in the results is it looks like Hamilton is trying to make a statement from the get go.  No sand bagging.  Grin

Can anyone confirm me what the addition to Sainz's engine is?
Also looking at the stats, I can surely say that this will be enjoyable for me personally as I love wet weather races. They add extra excitement or should I say 'water' xD to the race and that serves as a refreshment for me personally. Let's see what Sainz can do with his new engine.
Without going into technical the engine has some parts, they are changing some of them to test the 2022 updates.
You can read more here for example https://www.planetf1.com/news/carlos-sainz-new-ferrari-engine-turkey/

Well, thank you for letting me know about the engine. It seems that the engine is an upgraded one compared to what Sainz has right now. I also feel that maybe F1 can change the rules a bit and maybe make 4 engines in a year rather than 3. Though that might help a bit for the organizations with more money compared to the smaller ones but as you said that next year there are 22 races and 22 races with 3 engines is a bit tough in my opinion. I'm quite curious about how Sainz's new engine performs. Looking forward to it.

FP1 is done, is Ferrari now better than Mclaren with the recent update?

Not sure about that but Hamilton aced this race again. Although this is free practice and nothing very important,
I thought max would be able to hold the 2nd position, cause you know, Hamilton vs Max rivalry is getting thrilling and breathtaking in every race. I'm very excited to see who will win the Turkish GP. Also, I want to know that whether Sainz used his new engine in this practice race or not.
