So he  does this mail fraud thing and gets away with paing 100$ fee to the court?

He defrauded ~25.000.000 USD and is not able to be sentenced to pay a fine higher than 100$
? Is the law there that stupid!?

If law is like that I'm heading to the is now ... Time to do some serious business: http://youtu.be/niaMCTPDNeo

BFL works similarly to this mail fraud.
many customers + a lot of money = impunity
Just look at this case (mail fraud) from the other side:
Nobody forced customers to pay money. Scammers are not responsible for the stupidity of their customers. They have used only chance and  earned on human stupidity. They did not robbed anyone and did not steal money, the customers themselves gave them the money. Customers themselves are to blame . This is why scammers did not go to jail.  Wink

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

No to both haha. Good try though Tongue

Actually yes to both. Unless of course we're suddenly using regular linear time in this thread instead of BFL time and nobody told me.

I know, it was a pretty awesome example Smiley ..I like how you deferred away from engineers and flipped over to management since it was readily available on NSA's website. I also seem to recall a post somewhere in this thread with a link to BFL's structure, noting Nasser, Sonny, Josh, Chris, and a few others.

Ah, the joys of selecting evidence to suit our points of view Wink

Your example is some vague recollection of some post on some random forum? Why is it so hard to find the real people that run BFL? What are they trying to hide?

I'm just lazy. Too much work to narrow down the list to just engineers. I found so many people that work there. Machinists, painters, inspectors, supervisors, welders, cnc operators, etc.

Does anyone who doesn't have any skin in the game still believe BFL is for real?

It seems to me that the only people who believe BFL isn't some kind of scam are those with pre-orders, the same way that only those with large investments in BCS&T believed that Pirateat40 was for real towards the end.

BFL adherents, when will you allow yourselves to consider the fact that this is a scam. When the February deadline is missed? Or are you such chumps that you will allow a convicted fraudster to lead you through yet another hoop?

I see this as one of my investments.  If it pans out, it'll pay off.  If it doesn't, I'll move on to my next venture.

Anyone who invests money they can't afford to lose, should just put it in a savings account.

Have you ever heard of due diligence?

Hahaha this is so good

Again, can anyone name three BFL engineers?

Nope, since none of us work there. There's a manufacturing company an hour away from me, NSA Industries LLC, that's one of my clients. Can you name two of the engineers that work there?

On a side note, I'm thoroughly impressed by the sheer quantity of FUD in this thread.

I'm throughly impressed by the sheer quantity of your idiocy son, haha.

Besides, NSA Industries does not take money for "pre-orders" - their payment terms are Net 30. They actually deliver before you pay.

Korbman, are you really comfortable with your orders placed with BFL, and consider concerns voiced here FUD?  Are you comfortable with a company that keeps not delivering as promised, that keeps lying to the community?

Hahah and which one of these are engineers with solid careers who have too much to lose by participating in a scam? Let me guess, it's "Syko G", the hispanic ghetto homegirl who looks like she is 20 years old max?

Or perhaps it's Mike Wazowski, who: "Went to RHS [Rosewood High School] for the most part.... Looken to meet up with old friends from school....if i add you its for a reason cause i know you or have seen you around RHS before"

So, which one of these two kids have too much to lose by participating in a scam? Are either of them even engineers?

This is fucking pathetic man you can do better than that. Where are the ENGINEERS with CAREERS BEHIND THEM?

Yes indeed. I usually do my research before I buy things, and that goes doubly so when it comes to investing. I see all the points people have made so far...some are far fetched and some are logical. That's the joy of being on the internet.

The reality is that BFL is a company based in Missouri, theoretically abiding by United States laws and regulations. They've delivered a product before (more or less successfully), and they've shown details (albeit vague ones) on upcoming products and progress thereof. You can make hundreds of claims to the contrary (as we've seen), but my guess is that Butterfly Labs is indeed working on a product without the intention to scam us.

EDIT: If we really want to know about comfortabilitly with purchases, we should talk to Gigavps and Fefox, given their investments in BFL are in the many tens of thousands of Dollars.

On a side note that's mildly related..
I preordered Grand Theft Auto V...since it hasn't been released yet and all I've seen are screenshots/trailers, Rockstar Games must be scamming me. It only makes sense, right?  Roll Eyes

@Korbman: I am not spreading FUD. Don't you agree that

No worries here Niko, your posts seem to be far from FUD haha..in fact most have been insightful.

I must have missed the part where Rockstar games was founded and is run by a convicted fraudster.

Although it's funny because Syko G, that 18 year old BFL "engineer" you posted is actually more like a character from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas than an engineer working for a tech company.

So fucking what? You challenged us to find engineers for one of your clients, as if it would be impossible. We found them in 5 minutes.

Look at what you found. You've made yourself look like a total idiot. Get out.

LOL why did he need to put a picture of his kid and wife?

Trying too hard?

I have nothing against his family. That's his business.

But the picture seems a bit out of place. Something you would put in a greeting card for Christmas to friends and family.

The same reason politicians when they are running for office traditionally kiss babies on the campaign trail. It's to imbue them with an aura of goodness, and common humanity.

As soon as I saw that photograph I was instantly suspicious of his motives. He also wrote (in defense of his crime) a scathing criticism of the US government, and portrayed himself as a hard working man unfairly criminalized by unjust government regulation. It was an extremely transparent attempt to appeal to the libertarian or anarchist sympathies that are held by much of the Bitcoin community.

Good point, though it could also be the result of a hefty dose of paranoia. The next 30 days will tell all.

we don't know exactly how long it takes to assemble a unit. However, the best estimate we have for this is that if you order today, 13 January 2013, you would likely receive your order around the middle of March or possibly sooner if you're ordering a Jalapeno or a Single
