Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
as of the standing of bitcoin now? No, bitcoin will not be irreplacable even if it takes a decade. Bitcoin is the mother of all coins and will be the most protifable and the altcoins will only be the shadow of bitcoin. A good example is like a moon shine because of the light that comes from the sun. |

None can replace bitcoin, in the beginning of bitcoin there was already cryptocoins before bitcoin, that cryptocoins never passed bitcoin neither the unborn ones. |

I think the Bitcoin is the foundation of all cryptocurrency that exist currently. Developers can make potential virtual currencies but I think it is impossible to replace the First and the widely used and supported Bitcoin.

The time will come that bitcoin will get a lot of issues and the foundation of bitcoin will get weaker and that is the perfect time for another cryptocurrency to shine and replace bitcoin, there is no consistent thing in the world but change, so things will change as well as bitcoin that will be replaced by another cryptocurrency. |

Bitcoin as such cannot be replaced. But interest of people in Bitcoin can be replaced. like, from FIAT point of view... Now I prefer EUR to USD. But if they would start to print USD bank notes with some nice girls instead of those ugly presidents, my preferences may change. Who knows  |

Bitcoin is the first ever cryptocurrency that stood up the rest of the cryptocurrencies. The value of bitcoin is now too high and so hard to reach. The competency of other cryptocurrency is now too low they have to wait for bitcoin to go down before they can rise up.

It can happen if some other currency would have more interesting characteristics than bitcoin, but the chances are low because it doesn't seem that it will going to happen in the near future.
You are true. Bitcoin is the most trusted cryptocurrenccy nowadays. Some other currency can't bring enough trust to attract people. Bitcoin has a really strong foundation and its price is stable. Maybe Bitcoin will be replaced in the future but now, so many people use it, it can't fall. |

When bitcoin is replaced with another it could be because now it's just making a lot of unique universal coins ... So another coin might replace it, or Bitcoin will develop in such a way that it will not exist anymore. We just wait when will the bitcoin be replaced.

Bitcoin is a king of digital currency holding huge market cap and I don't see any other altcoin that has that power to take over or replace bitcoins as all the altcoins are not too big in compare to bitcoins and even in future bitcoin will rule the digital world.

no way the bitcoin can be replaced, it is too big to fail. There are too many big guys in it now.
Correct whales have too much invested in bitcoin to let it fail, in fact I think this is why we finally got segwit activated, people began to realize that ETH was getting awfully close to bitcoin in the market cap and that is why everyone said, hey we need to something about it and that is why segwit has finally been approved and we can move forward with a bitcoin that is even stronger. We will see more price increase as it is already happened after the August 1 hard fork. Price now is good but not good to sell yet, the party is not over and when this will continue to happen it's hard to see it being replace by another crypto currency although they have a chance though. It is very unlikely that any crypto is going to surpass bitcoin anytime soon , but we cannot deny that ETH was very close in market cap to bitcoin, the closest I remember seeing was only a difference of 7 billion which is not a lot, but eventually the bubble in ETH burst and bitcoin approved improvements on the network and with that alone the distance between the two is one of the largest in a long time. |

BitCoin is very dangerous as it is not backed by anything tangible. US dollars used to be backed by gold, but that's another story altogether. Many big BitCoin owners I know are now taking their money out of BitCoins and purchasing silver. Silver 1oz coins are a favorite, as are 10oz and 100oz bars. Today silver hit 17.00 per oz. It is heading to $25.00 per ounce and many believe that 100.00 to 200.00 is not out of the question, in the near future.
You can hold Silver in your hands and keep it in your home. It can be stored in a safe or other secret spot.
BitCoin value could crash overnight and is expected to do so soon. Move your money to silver asap, to avoid a huge dip in your assets. Buy BitCoins again after the bubble bursts.

We can not tell how the future unfolds but the bitcoin market seems ready for expansion as we can tell from the fast rising value which hints demand is high and people are not showing so much interest for other altcoins. To be honest this will really take a long time before a bitcoin replacement is even found for now bitcoin lives on

I am agree with the statement that the developer have created many cryptocurrencies and are now surviving in the exchanges but it has not yet gotten the position and maturity to overcome the bitcoin and defeat bitcoin in the market because bitcoin is the mother currency of cryptocurrencies. I think replacing of bitcoin by another cryptocurrency will be a lame assumption. |

Yuppie! Agree with you that bitcoins could not be replaced by any other crypto currency as the number of bitcoin investors and its price is increasing day by day. It is becoming famous all over the globe due to its extraordinary features such as volatility, security, easy and remote access etc. It is the fundamental digital currency and has no present replacement in the market. |

I strongly believe bitcoin will be replaced by Ripple (XRP). Bitcoin is purely based on speculation...XRP has real products and backing. They're going to kill Swift.
what do you base this on? couldn't the same be said of ethereum? and-- what currency isn't based on speculation? isn't that kind of the nature of currency in the modern era? |
