Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I am new to the bitcoin world, I have mining since Thursday last week and am about to earn my first bitcoin by pooling with deepbit.  I have a 6950 and a 4850 mining away and I hope to add more cards to my farm in the future!  Any tips on where to get used cards for a good price?

Hello,

I heard about bitcoin yesterday (although since then I've forgotten completely how I came across it) and have been trying to learn everything I can about it.  Just thought I'd start joining the forums.  So hello, forum.

I'm still extremely weary about this whole thing...but I at least want to get into mining a little bit.  Always looking for new stuff to get into.

Anyway, cheers!

Just dropping a message to introduce myself, and get to that nice magic #5 post. Been mining a while, reading/lurking here a a fair bit.

Supporting bitcoin as best I can with 1. mining, 2. buying with bitcoin, 3. selling (or trying to) for bitcoin. If you make a donation to:  1MahzUUEYJrZ4VbPRm2h5itGZKEguGVZK1  I'll get it into circulation.

Hi all,

So I'm a full time hacker, part time musician, and like many of you have recently become obsessed with this Bitcoin thing. I have high hopes - it really feels like the dawn of a new era. In ten years time we will be looked on as pioneers...
