Hey, I'm BitServers

New to this forum, but I am looking into places that will help me market my new business venture and receive good valued feedback.

I have read many threads on BitcoinTalk already and it has already been a great help to me, Slightly dissapointed with the strict posting limitation though.

Look forward to staying around and chatting with you guys Smiley

Hi, I'm dryden.  I literally only learned about BitCoin last weekend and have been obsessed with learning more about it ever since.  I have been reading the client source and most of the wiki  Shocked and jusssst about think I understand everything.  Well, there are several things I have yet to grok about the block structure, and how the p2p element works in conjunction with how each independent client builds and maintains its own graph of linking blocks.

I guess I am responding to bitcoin on a couple levels.  On one level I am obsessed, being a programmer, with understanding it and verifying in my own mind that the entire concept seems to hold water.  It works against me that I'm not well versed at all in crypto, but I definitely get the basics of hashes, checksums, and public-key encryption, and have written quite a few hashes myself. But until I really can visualize in my mind how orphaned blocks (and more importantly, the orphaned Transactions within them) are handled in the client, I don't feel that I really understand how the miner who generates a block and the proof-of-work associated with it can be confident that it is THE block, and can move on to the next.  Oh well, like I said, I have literally only been reading the source for about a day and a half.

Of course I'm also drawn to bitcoin on the level of what crypto-money means philosophically to the world at large, but that's a well-worn area.  Although it does seem like the lion's share of arguments against bitcoin come from people who don't understand it in one way or another. To me this makes it even more interesting.

Anyway. I am digging the community. I'm fascinated by the miners with giant rigs. I would love to put together 4xGPU rig just to watch it go but think the era of cost-effective mining may be at an end.

Carry on then.

I'm Frank. I wouldn't consider myself new to Bitcoin. I had a mining rig going for a bit when they were at $30~ and it was really nice, but since they've dropped, it's not even paying for itself really.

Quite sad actually. I'm registering here with the hopes of selling my existing parts, as well as possibly creating some sort of website/service, but first I have to see what there is a market for.

Wish me luck!

So my name is Dennison, I'm new to crypto-currency, but have been following bitcoin from the start. (Should have mined it!) At the moment I am fascinated with Litecoin (as well as bitcoin) and living in Europe gives me an incentive to look into alternative currencies. (The euro isn't doing so hot) I'm not so technical, but I understand technical things and would be interested in investing in alt-currencies while simultaneously promoting and working on mainstream adoption.

more or less retired.

silverfuture here from Canada.  I guess I am an early adopter as I cpu mined thousands of bitcoin back in early 2010.  I am still mining, investing, transacting, and speculating for a silver future (no, I am not just interested in being rich from bitcoin as I had encountered bitcoin due to my interest in economics and am really more interested in it's social impact). I guess I finally decided to join the party but have been lurking for a long time.

Hey - I'm kibblesnbits.  I'm new to bitcoin but not to distributed processing.  Right now I have a modest GPU rig at about 660Mhash.  I think bitcoin is fascinating and looking forward to learning more.
