Learned about bitcoin from a C-50 Acer Target Laptop deal a week and a half ago.  Not sure why the poster suggested using 10 of them to mine bitcoins, since each can only get 6Mhash/s, and my Radeon 5770 can get 200Mhash/s.

I haven't bought any bitcoins or bought anything with bitcoins yet, but the concept is interesting.  Mining is just for fun, since in a week of mining, I probably spent more in extra power costs than the 0.5 BTC I've gotten.

Bitcoin is like a variation of Schrödinger's Cat. Everything about it is both scam and fully legit at the same time until you open the box. - ElectricMucus

Hi all I'm fairly new around here.

I recently completed my first bitcoin through mining and it has been pretty fun to monitor my mining pool and try to keep my humble mining machine (a single Radeon 5870) running as much as I can. I have it overclocked using the CCC, currently running at 900/900, the best settings available in the built in CCC settings. The card itself usually runs between 69 celcius and 75 celcius at 49% fan speed depending on the temperature of the room.

I am part of one of the larger mining pools and my pool is having a pretty good night tonight. I like the idea of pools but there do seem to be a few inefficiencies with them. I'm curious how many people actually solo mine. The benefits of winning that big jackpot and not having to share it sound pretty great, but obviously you could go many months without a hit on lower hashing setups.

The difficulty increases are my main concern with the future of mining. Once thing become too difficult, it won't be worth it to mine anymore, but for now it seems to be profitable and I don't actually have any current expenses to worry about with my machine since it's paid off, which is a plus, so energy and possible machine depreciation from extensive use is really the only concern for now.

been lurking for about a week.. this looks interesting!
I've been mining at a decent rate, about 180mh/s, I figured it's worth it to pay back the cost of graphics card overtime.
I may start a website to help other newbies get a quick understanding of bitcoin without having to read the in depth wiki.

Hello everyone  Grin

Just got introduced to BitCoin mining by a buddy... I have been reading things all over the web for a couple of weeks and it has peeked my interest..

Still debating whether or not to try to learn if I should use Linux(and learn Linux) to mine Bitcoin...

I am thinking of building a somewhat budget miner rig to test the waters.... cheap little  AM3 MB and a single core CPU with 3x XFX 6870's...but I am going to do some more reading and make sure I get teh best bang for my buck.

So I am looking forward to becoming a member of this community and learning this hobby

Thanx in advance
Ono
