I was a committed lurker too, until I saw the astana v shakaru thread in the Trading Discussion. It seems like one of those things where years from now it will count for something to be able to say 'I was there!'

Do the restrictions come off automatically after the set number of posts and/or the requisite time or is it necessary to apply to be 'whitelisted'?

They come off automatically; no need to do anything special on your part.

It's not meant to be hard ... just enough to keep out the riff raff. Wink

I like the requirements for getting past newbie restrictions. It makes it feel as though the ability to have full access will be something of a reward after having worked through the trial.  Grin

I'm a Jr. Member now, without even having requested whitelist. That worked out pretty well. Cheesy

So, the restrictive newbie phase isn't that big of a deal really.

Has anyone thought of using bit coins as an incentive scheme, eg like air miles?

Even though this sucks, I can see how this would be very helpful in eliminating spam.

Just tried to make my first post about my five successful bitcoin transactions over the last three months. I was disappointed that I couldn't add to the discussion.

But the newbie restrictions make sense so here is post #1.

It's unfortunate that they much take such measures to weed out those who are serious posters from those who are spammers. Just have to tolerate it in the meantime.

The restrictions make sense to me. Since yours is the first reply I've received, do you have any recommendations for predicting bitcoin fluctuations?

I'm not an investor (at least not yet), I just want to buy coins at low points in their valuation (USD) for online purchases.
