I really would like to know, when the big day on which I will be whitelisted comes. I have been registered here for a week at least, have some posts here and still rank Newbie. Ok, maybe my posts didn't really make to much of a contribution but thats just because i have nothing to say in the newbie Forum... I wanna be with the grown ups now!

Browse around for two and a half hours and you'll be good to go!

Useful to have restrictions on newbies (I feel old to be one, but that's fine).

Surprised to see these restrictions, but its understandable.

I just joined and I hope I can start posting outside the Newbies soon! I've been following the Bitcoin since February, its amazing to see how big and popular it is now after a couple of months.

Been online 4 hrs and have more than 5 posts, still can't post. This forum is seriously dumb. inconveniencing every single user to join your forum is NOT a proper solution to combat spam or trolls.

I can agree with your restrictions for newbies.  I know how much spam can be generated on forums as I have hosted one before.

poor form to just post aimlessly in order to make post count and then never post in this forum again

While this is a good system, it makes new members feel like they're being locked out of the community.

I have been lurking for a long time, and now i have a need to post, but i need to post in non newbie board of course.
So i'm adding to the spam in this post, which kinda undermines the whole newbie system, if i can just spam my way to non noob status, considering the newbie status is to STOP SPAM. (serious comma splicing in that sentance, im too lazy to fix)
Oh well, atleast it confines the spam to noob board.

But i think the system should be more along the lines of >= 5 posts + lurk for  >=24hrs, 2 hrs aint much.
Course i never lurked logged in, so i prolly dont event have the 2 hrs racked up.

Anyway, i'm off to see if there is anything useful i can contribute in other newbie board threads.

Stopping spammers is admirable, but it causes legitimate new users to have to post unnecessarily--like this.

Heh, this confused me for quite a while since I just joined a couple days ago and could see my replied to notifications but couldn't reply back.  Thought I was going crazy not finding a reply button lol.
(and no I did not post this just to get my post count up, this was my 6th post)

I just joined today, and was stuck in the same confusion as you =)

It makes sense,

You can still view posts you need, and if you want to ask a question in another section, the bar is not too difficult to leap.
Just helps to deter the hooligans  Grin
