Transistors    rx480-5,700 million   vs   390x-6,200 million
Bus Width              256 bit           vs           512 bit
so your 480 is approximately equal to the 280x and  will never reach the level of 390

So what ?

Pitcairn have 256 bit bus too, but only 100-120 H/s
Fiji have 4096 bit bus, but it does even less than Havaii.

Bus width is only part of the equation. Bandwidth is a better representation.

                 RX480       vs R9 390      vs R9 Fury
Frequency: 2000 MHz       6000 MHz      500 MHz
Interface:   256-bit           512-bit          4096-bit
Bandwidth: 256 GB/s        384 GB/s       512 GB/s

Being that equihash is specifically designed to bottleneck on bandwidth I wouldn't hold my breath for major increases on the RX series...

Cache size and cache bandwidth are more important than memory bw. In case if Claymore use merge sort in his miner.

Earning a little less everyday, added a brand new RX 480 8 GB $249 . Payrate jumped up for about 30 minutes now it is lower than before I added the new card. Went from 1kH/s to 1.2kH/s but now earning less. Is it just down hill from here?

with the slow start now being over I think more people will be switching over. It was mentioned yesterday I believe that the DAG for ETH has got too big now for those using 2GB cards so they will be now moving across to the next most profitable which I do believe is ZEC.

Network Hashrate increase = lower profit for miners???

The higher the hashrate the more mining power is being aimed at that coin.  This will in turn increase the difficulty which will mean less income.

Setting memclk to 1100 instead 2100 on RX 480 causes only 20% hashrate drop.
Bandwidth is not a boottleneck at all.
Zcash is not like bandwidth-hungry ETH. There's no 100% memory controller load.

Hello Claymore,
Thank you first for your miner.
I am having a bit of a difficulty setting up fan speed.
6 Cards in total:
Quote
GPU #0: Hawaii, 8192 MB available, 40 compute units
GPU #1: Ellesmere, 8192 MB available, 36 compute units
GPU #2: Ellesmere, 8192 MB available, 36 compute units
GPU #3: Ellesmere, 8192 MB available, 36 compute units
GPU #4: Hawaii, 8192 MB available, 40 compute units
GPU #5: Ellesmere, 8192 MB available, 36 compute units

In config.txt I set this:
Quote
-fanmin 50,50,45,45,45,45
-tt 75
-ttli 85
-tstop 90
-i 0
And I get this:
Quote
GPU0 t=59C fan=50%, GPU1 t=50C fan=50%, GPU2 t=57C fan=60%, GPU3 t=53C fan=58%, GPU4 t=54C fan=58%, GPU5 t=53C fan=59%

Is there something wrong I did?
Thank you.

Network Hashrate increase = lower profit for miners???

Let's see if ZEC recovers but it's trending down.

Don't worry, think long term and don't cash your coins now. Once the Z address problem is fixed zcash will be the primary coin for ransomware and other black market transactions. Think of drug money beeing transferred to south america. Soon zcash will make a run at bitcoin

when can you release the v9 version ?

Claymore said it would take a couple of days to release the next version as it will take more effort to get more speed.

Having an issue with the miner restarting while running under another user account. I have a mining user account that I use and then switch to another user account on the computer so it can still be used. Once and a while the driver will crash and recover, miner restarts as it should but it then it gets to where it is supposed to get work from the pool and stops until you log back into the account.

Any fixes for this other than building a dedicated rig that doesn't get used for anything else?

I'm not using 15.12 anymore, I wonder if that's causing this? I remember this working properly before..

They are from the silent army thread.  a user over there coded them for himself to check profitability.

I see no problems here, except "-i 0", you can try to use "-i 6" instead. If you worry about fan speed (58% instead of 50%) - for 4xx cards drivers have some problems with fan speed management, miner sets 50% but they can set 40-60% instead (have no idea why).

Please read Readme and FAQ in the first post of this thread before asking any questions, probably the answer is already there.

That is an obsolete version. Linux and NVIDIA cards aren't supported any more. Just read page 1 or search for Claymores posts.
