If the RX 480 gets 800H/s with XMR then mine XMR since its more profitable then ZEC.
https://www.whattomine.com/coinsis XMR more Profitable??? You complain about NEWBIES, but why mislead them, Seems more profitable to me. However never knew they could hit 800h/s. RX480 with mod. bios speed up to ~800 (@1950 mem) 850 (@2050 mem) H\S (2050 on my card very unstable - is 4Gb model, low speed memory (1750 stock). On 8Gb models stock is 2000Mhz (overclock up to 2200 + modding timings), It should be fastest.

Is there a chance that a version of the claymore zcash Miner will work on 1 GB HD7XXX cards ? Thanks for your work and have a pleasant weekend !
Are you sure that v7.0 does not work on 1GB cards with default config file? Have you tried it? Not sure if this ever got answered, but I've got 2 or 3 HD 7750 1GB cards running V8 with the common "setx" stuff in the bat file. They're pulling 40-45 sol/s (some variation) at 800/1125. I don't recommend BUYING stuff to make a rig out of these, but if you have them on hand anyway might as well use them. [edit] I also found out the hard way that recent AMD drivers want to automagically crossfire HD 7750s with the GPU in A10-78x0 which is why I've been having stability issues on one of my rigs. [/edit]

whattomine say they are there, 4800h vs 1200 sol, for a rig, very equal, but monero is old i would remain with zcash to be honest

to me monero is more stable. did the math and still getting 90,000 sats lower than zcrash not for long if it continues dropping. only version 9 and beyond can save zcrash now

Too lazy to measure the wattage. Maybe someone else can try it. However since its 40nm, it will most likely consume more than a RX480.
All I know is that its definately less than 250Watts because that's what it used with ETH mining. You can probably also mega undervolt it to like 0.9Volts and reduce clockrate a little and maybe ~150Watt range is achievable. No clue.
Watts are not everything. The card price is also a major factor. Just got a 7950 for $60 that does 150 watts. A. 470 would cost me around $160 doing 90 watts for about the same sols. Im spending an extra $4 a month in electricity. It will take 25 month for the 470 to catch up. In regards to a 480 the math is even worse. But when You sell 480, you will get much better price than 7950. Calculate this way.

With xfx rx470 I'm getting 700h/s with clocks 1200/1900 using 130W at the wall, this is on 1500 straps bios. I just started running xmr so still looking for the sweet spot power/performance. You can definitely get more out of rx470 and rx480 should be doing over 800h/s.

I was thinking I am on the Zcash miner thread, apparently I was wrong. +1 just comparing profitability and card performances. I've had a look on pool.to.be.com XMR pool and they have had a massive spike in hashrate. I wonder if this is due to people moving away from ZEC now that the price has dropped to literally just over $50 a coin? Is monero now the coin to mine now that ZEC and ETH seem to be in decline (although XMR is not exactly holding its price in the market right now it does seem more stable than those two)?

It's normal... Don't bother so much, just keep them around 60-70 degrees and you are fine... By the way do you run it undervolted?
nope stock... what setting you use? can you share it? WHat you use for the underwolting? afterburner? Yes afterburner. For undervolting just go into the settings, activate "unlock voltage control" and then lower you core voltage from 1200 mV to 1090 mV. Make sure you do this for BOTH cores (in settings you can activate "synchronize settings for similar graphic processors"). It's the lowest point where I could find the card to be stable and mining with the same speed. The temperature should drop 5-8 degrees, but this depends also on the environment. thank you very much sensei!
i tried your recomendations and mi temperatures went down from 62 °C and 71°C with 80% fann speed to 58-60 °C first core and 64-67°C with 65% fann speed! Once again thx!have to look for some settings fo my "heavily" overclocked R9 390 and R9 290 3x MSI R9 290 gaming 4 GB GPU clock: +9% = 1064 Mhz Power limit: +9% Memory clock: 1350 Mhz 3x GIGABYTE R9 390 G1 WINDFORCE 2X Gaming 8GB GPU clock: +9% = 1117 Mhz Power limit: +9% Memory clock: 1610 Mhz 3x MSI R9 390 gaming 8 GB GPU clock: +10% = 1144 Mhz Power limit: +10% Memory clock: 1650 Mhz Do any1 have a recomendation to lover the temps but having the same hash power? Im not looking in lowing the power consuption just the temps.... Many thanks in advanced...

looks like between 950 h and 1000 h max if I could only get the hash count higher it would be close to 2000 it crashes if I increase more than -h 2048. maybe my 390x will do it. nope can't increase the hashes. suppose to be more powerful wonder what happened. just punched in the numbers now monero now whoops zcrash in profitabilty for my 480 for now, for my 390x zcash is better choice

I found that lowering voltage can lower temps . it is ok for zcash and ether does not effect my hashrate. other than that I found it crashes with other algo's
