yes but the red wire from the card will be connected to the ground, will it hurt the graphics card ?

read my reply, you have 2 black cables normal, a 12v earth and a 5v earth. if you remove the 5v earth then 5v doesn't flow

ok so what im guessing is that the 5v line is still there but as there is no earth cable (black) the 5v doesn't actually run as its not a complete circuit
yes but the red wire from the card will be connected to the ground, will it hurt the graphics card ? that is my concern

so what your saying is to clip off the red. ps i know it only needs 12+ volt supplement  Smiley

it wont be connected to the ground. The remaining black wire is a 12v ground. Basically if they took the red wire out it would make no difference because it doesn't connect to anything.

gpu 6 pin cables will ONLY accept 12v power

but dont clip off the red. it makes no difference just adds some extra strength to the connection (i.e. 3 cables are stronger then 2)

Yep, hopefully they have improved the architecture SMX, that was they wont need as many cores if each performs better
well it will perform like 3 750ti...  with a small memory bus. So basically it will be worst than a 780ti...
I guess for mining it will be like 3x750Ti indeed. Or less. 6x00 for X11 at stock. Sad

For gaming it will be faster than 780  - when both are stock. ANd 970/980 overclock pretty well (at least test samples Wink )

Could you be more precise please. Which one will be 3x750ti, 970 or 980. If it is 980 then it is total waste.

I think GTX970 comes with 1664 cores , and GTX980 has 2048 cores.
I'll test clocking mine 980 when it arrives to me next week ...

Euh, I have an electronics history. If you get 7V between the 5V and 12V (as in your image), they share a common ground (as in the standards). So 5V will work on it. The extra ground cable, which you call 5v ground is just used to be able to carry more current (and tensile strength ofc Tongue )

next question from tbearhere: Is the black smoke coming out of the card is normal ?  Grin

Yes sure, it is an incentive to buy a new one  Grin

no offense to tbearhere but electronic seems to be way out of his league.... (if it is goes as well as for driver install, cuda compiling and so on...  well new card, new psu new mobo will be obvious next step...).

ps: as far as I remember, gpu usually comes with everything needed to install it (as well as the useless molex to gpu connector... well may-be not the 750ti... but I have a few spares from my other cards), without to try strange things

You just have to put the smoke carefully back into the card. Cheesy

Do we have any version of ccminer that could mine magi (XMG- algo=M7M) ?

PS. There is a new cpu miner https://github.com/noncepool/m7magi-cpuminer (10% faster than old one)
