Yes, the case is part of the heat dissipation. Mount it "flat" and upright. Possibly a good idea to have space beneath it. Allow plenty of clearance for the air-flow.

Congrads. Good luck with the mortgage, and hope to see a real life pic of you wearing a tophat and monacle with a glass of red wine.

only on the bottom and my batch #2 units came with the bottom plastic removed (an improvement over batch #1 as the little screws hold on to all the plastic) I also removed the top plastic but from experience I can tell the top does not get hot at all, neither do the side walls. It's just for looks that I removed it :-) The black brushed aluminium is so much nicer....

unfortunately it does not work like that, if you want to ship with DHL from China, it's easier/cheaper to hand off your package to a transit company (a psycho in a white van) that drives your package from Shenzhen to Hong Kong and drops it off there at the DHL hub It's only once it gets scanned by DHL that you'll see real tracking: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137534.msg1479606#msg1479606

It's all to blame to the fact that all the white van drivers are psychopaths

One of my Avalon units (batch #2) was delivered today Jun 27 by DHL, to the Los Angeles area. Ordered Feb 2, 2013. Paid 76.7 BTC (it was one of the orders affected by the walletbit bug: I was charged and paid 0.5 BTC, then sent the remaining ~76 BTC later in the day). After creating numerous (unanswered) tickets, my order was eventually added to the store in mid-June (order #108xx). I was emailed the tracking number yesterday. It travelled from Beijing to Los Angeles in 48h. Was not stopped at customs. Declared value = $500. Package weight was 16 kg (but declared as 0.5 kg on the shipping label). Avalon unit weight = 13.5 kg. It is a black chassis. Very few signs of use (slight traces of dust). Out of the box, cgminer was configured as is, confirming the know fact that Avalon mine with the units (I think for burn-in, which I don't mind): pool1 - url: stratum+tcp://stratum.ozco.in:80 - worker: avalon.default0 - password: 12345 pool2 - url: stratum+tcp://au.ozco.in:80 - worker: avalon.default0 - password: 12345 pool3 - url: stratum+tcp://mining.eligius.st:3334 - worker: 1AYdAw8CcrQ2wx55LTbFHRn5bxgNZhaRLW - password: 12345
I am still waiting for my other batch #2 unit ordered on Feb 18.

They do it by adding the tracking number to the order, in the web store. Then the web store sends the update via email. Check your spam folder maybe.

That is correct, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137534.msg1610260#msg1610260Batch #1 shipped with a DHL label that stated HK as the origin, Batch #2 lists the Beijing ChaoYang District, China. In both cases they use BEIJING FEIXIANG CO LTD as the forwarder By the way, I forgot who asked but these are the dimensions of the new box, compared to the old box: Old box: 54 x 46 x 27 New box: 58 x 56 x 32

Is the old model smaller, or is there just more padding in the new packaging?
