You're right there, bitcoin is not yet popular, and they have no idea what it is. But they may have heard or read about bitcoin but they have forgotten about it. Because when I asked my friends about bitcoin, they also have no idea what it is. So bitcoin is not yet popular, but I'm sure it will also shine in the future

Bitcoin is already famous around the world but some people are not familiar about bitcoin because they are busy with their work or they are not active in social media. Older people are also not familiar with bitcoin but with the help of their families like nephew, niece, etc and telling it about bitcoin can help familiarize it.

Every time I go to the bank I like to ask them if they have heard of BTC, most of the time the answer is no.
I do ask a lot of people about BTC.. a restaurant near me.. near ish use to accept it as well, I asked to pay with it, they said it no longer exists.. .... ...

Most people I find still have zero idea what BTC is unless they are friends with the likes of us.. I don't think we are even in early adoption stage.. we are in "the chasm" .. it would appear we are going to survive though... appear anyways..

I dunno just something I have taken note of.

Pretty much everyone that has heard of it assumes it's worth like 5 cents and shits themselves when I say it's $1k (Cad) .. we are in very interesting times with BTC.

This one is true. Usually prime suspects for this are Gen Xs and Ys that are earning a heck more than bitcoins. Even the poor peoplr having no access to bitcoins are also one of many groups of peole unfamilliar with bitcoins. A lot of millenials are getting into the world of bitcoins and even at an early age of 15, there have been bitcoin investors.

Not many people know about bitcoin. Bitcoin is quite popular, but banks, governments have not yet accepted. The current bitcoin is still unknown. The number of people listening to bitcoin is not much

Bitcoin is quite popular. However, many people do not know it yet. Maybe they do not care or they do not accept bitcoin. Banks and some governments have not accepted bitcoin yet

Its like stumbling upon a precious stone but these people are too unmindful enough to even bother to know what they have stumbled upon. Talks about bitcoin is spreading like bush fire but still a lot of people are lazy to know what bitcoin would offer them. Well its their loss and not ours.

Correct. Bitcoin is really the next big thing in financial online transactions, period. It is also ideal for investing like just a pure and simple buy and hold investing. Although not as powerful with trading cyrpto, savings is good enough for any conservative traders.

From my experience, I think it starts to be better and better within last one or two years. For example few weeks ago, I saw a BTC ATM machine in a shopping centre in Prague (Czech Republic). I think you can find aprox. 3-4 ATMs in the city already! Many people are passing the ATM machines with BTC sign every day, so I believe it will increase the general knowledge about the topic. On the other hand, recently, our minister of finance said on public, he didn't know what bitcoin is, so it's sad when even the leaders of finance sector don't know, that bitcoin exists. Cheesy Good thing about the story is, after that there were many articles in newspapers and on the web about bitcoin and people were more interested, and then somebody took a photo of the minister trying to buy some bitcoins from the ATM machine.  Grin
I think these small things make a difference and I believe bitcoin will be adopted (at least by early majority), within next 5-10 years. But now it's up to us, inovators or early adopters to promote our belowed cryptocurrency. Grin

Bitcoin ATM all over the world. https://coinatmradar.com/countries/

hope soon everyone will know what is bitcoin

even if the majority of people found out it wouldn't have that much effect on price as most people are broke, price may double or triple and that's about it

Not all people are broke and there are more investing mindset individuals that you could ever imagine. The thing is, when we have some extra funds, make it sure that we will use it to accumulate assets and not liabilities or expenses.

That is right if we compare 2017 with 2016 we can see that in 3016 most of the people did not know about bitcoin but in 2017 i think te majority of people and specially te new generation are now taking more interest in bitcoin. i think that in future more and more people will know about bitcoin , because social media is now playing a very important role in making bitcoin more popular.

I think they do now, it's price rocketed to almost 20K, people didn't think much about but it was all over the news, and now with the current down, woah, tons of investors are on a lose.

I got same experience with you when i ask anybody, they just no and no more answer out from their mouth anymore. They seem like dont interest at all.
In this case we can be happy, not half of world community know about bitcoin but the price is very high. Imagine if all people know and trust it, how much is bitcoin?

This thread was made on 2016 and that was a different time on where are we now. The phasing and progress of bitcoin's popularity was very quick, almost everybody now knows bitcoin and crypto currencies and on 2018 for sure it will make another noise.

That is true and just my gut feel of it, bitcoin will rise again at all time new heights next month as big investors can now come in as its price is slightly going down. This happened almost all of the time and most especially when China banned exchanges, it goes down dramatically and backed up again at a very high price that everyone was going crazy amaze.

It is right dude. I am not looking for far example and i can the closest example from me. In my village, i think only 10 peoples know about bitcoin. You can imagine from a hundreed thousand people just 10 people who know bitcoin.
I know many people know bitcoin but its still less.

By that fact alone, when you keep on accumulating bitcoin you are in a good place when people in your village and in other places started to get interest and start buying bitcoins or getting them in any other forms, because the price will continually go high and you will be profitable if you want to sell it.
