But in reality, it's not as transparent as it seems. In some countries, especially developing ones, taxes go straight to the pockets of government officials. It's unfair. On that perspective, I guess taxation can be a form of theft. Such a flawed world we live in, huh?

In my opinion, tax is necessary in order to help the government to improve its services like infrastructures and security. It also allows the government to extend help to those who are in need.

The concept of taxation works fine in theory, but its implementation by our society is warped, as happens quite often. While in Europe the tax rate reaches 56% of monthly income it`s hard not to call it theft.

Taxation is not theft in itself. Tax is supposed to be spent ways by which a country will prosper. However, it is one of the most useful ways by which people commit the act of theft and all sorts of corrupt acts that usually  are associated to it as a result such as bribery and extortion.

Taxation doesn't tell you what your money is going for, except in general ways.

If taxation were not some form of stealing, government would itemize the things that they have for you, and let you buy them after examination. But if you didn't want some of them, you wouldn't have to buy them.

The fact that government forces you to pay, and won't clearly show you where your money went and how it is being used, makes taxation robbery and worse.

For example. Some of your tax money goes to kill lots of kids in Yemen. But you and I would never kill kids in Yemen. Yet the taxing authority hands some of our tax money over to the military to do just that... kill a bunch of kids in Yemen.

This means that taxation is not only robbery, but it is a crime way worse than robbery.

I wish more people understood that the government doesn't tax to spend.  Its actually the opposite.  The government has to spend money to get it into circulation.  Tax is what gives fiat value.  The US dollar only has value because it is the only acceptable payment for tax in the US.  This is the only way the strength of  the economy became linked with the value of the US dollar.

Once people understand that, a lot of this nonsense about "muh tax dollars" will end.

It is not a theft,The money you pay in taxes goes to many places. In addition to paying the salaries of government workers, your tax dollars also help to support common resources, such as police and firefighters. Tax money helps to ensure the roads you travel on are safe and well-maintained. Taxes fund public libraries and parks.

There are many small towns that have volunteer fire brigades. Also, there are many small libraries that are private, not funded by taxes. In fact, all the services you can get from government can be purchased from private sources one way or another.

If you get a service from government that you don't want, will they give you your money back? No! Often they force you to have services you don't want. They use your taxes against you.

Why not throw out taxes, and make everything a purchase plan? Then you know what you are getting. And you won't have to donate so much money to help true victims of poverty with services like government social services. Why not? Because people won't take advantage of government social services when it is donations from individuals. Rather, they will get out there and work for a living.

At the same time, we won't have government people swindling a bunch of money out of the tax coffers, if there aren't any taxes to swindle.

There's a big city and a nearby small town. I used to live in the big town and got a house in the smaller one that's just 15 min by car from the big one. The big town has waste disposal being taken care of by the government and moved to a state-owned landfill site. The small town hired a private company to collect the garbage and recycle it.
People in the city can throw away whatever they like, big and small, and it will be taken away. In the town you have limits and whatever doesn't fit into the bin or a bag won't be taken away. Not to mention that it has to be sorted by you. The private company cuts corners where it can, unlike the state-owned one. Normally we'd be able to switch, but there's nobody else to turn to, and they know they have monopolized the market. I'd be careful with making everything private as long as there's not enough competition.

Most towns I lived in in the US had private garbage service. If you didn't like your garbage service you just canceled and went with another one.
