It wont overcome paypal because the bticoin can only handle 2/3 tx per second while the paypal can do 170+. I think that bitcoin will be store of value and the ethereum will be used like a paypal. Bitcoin needs a lot of upgrades but it is really hard to upgrade the bitcoin beacuse big companies are not accepting the changes. We are threatened by the miners every time, but we must fear not and stand and fight with those miners, to make btc great again..

No, because they are two different things

Paypal is just a payment processor, which supports many currencies

Bitcoin is a currency, and your wallet a payment processor

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin
I think yes. Nowadays almost everyone converts the form of payment into bitcoin. I prefer bitcoin than paypal. My paypal account has been limited. I called and talked but they did not help. I will never use paypal again
Yeah, you can see in this forum, the primary payment method is Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, there are not many people still choose PayPal for business in the make money online community at present (for short is MMO). Other large forum about MMO also choose Bitcoin the primary to make deal.

Being anonymous is the primary idea of blockchain technology. Trust is more present in paypal than here in the forum. Paypal are use for shopping and transfering money worldwide unlike bitcoin which are use in trading and investing on ICO platforms. Both of them have different use so I think either of them are to be compare to each other. Maybe they can be in one platform in the future. Who knows?  Cool

As far as I can see it, bitcoin can and will overcome paypal in a few years time if every store starts using bitcoins as an effective alternative for digital purchasing. Bitcoin is so large now and will most likely dominate easy-pay systems. There will come a time that we'll never use Mastercards when Bitcoins blows-up!

In my country for instance, one cannot use paypal because of the risk of fraud so there are things that we cannot purchase online because of it.but with the emergence of bitcoins, we can easily buy the things we want online with the fear of order being fraudulent. So a means of payment in this scenario bitcoin has overcome Paypal.

I don't think that Bitcoin will overcome Paypal in the future. Maybe Bitcoin will be just like gold today. We need coin with fast transactions.

This question about a year ago. That time bitcoin is really not that known. Yet now i can say that from the level of popularity of paypal bitcoin now equates it(exceeds maybe no enough evidence tho so better say that they are equal at the moment).
In terms of price since paypal is not a currency we cant compare them.
In terms of transactions. Since paypal is not a currency you still cannot compares them

About which country you are talking about, im curious.
Blockchain does not resolve the problems regarding payment for products.
If the payment is maid, it is not reversible and YES, seller is protected.
But how about the buyer? How buyer can be sure that seller will not scam? There should be 3rd party for assurances or some-kind of block-chain technology that allow to encrypt the deal in such way that buyer has protection also, for example he could release the money himself from some kind of smart wallet when he has satisfied with service.

Before long it will happen in light of the fact that as individuals are demonstrating love toward bitcoin then it is conceivable soon on the grounds that individuals need to get advantage from something which is in bitcoin consequently individuals are going for bitcoin rather going for PayPal. Since they lean toward bitcoin they realize that bitcoin can twofold there sum.

It would be nice to have the option to use bitcoin instead of PayPal. Bitcoin is still in its infancy and as more and more people start to adopt bitcoin we will start to see it been used more in the mainstream.

I am sure it's already working in the right direction, the baby steps have been taken, and it's evident by the rise of no of people coming to Bitcoin. There's a school that accepts Bitcoin as payment, swizz has opened its doors for Bitcoins. Dubai use it to. I am sure somewhere the big brass of paypal are looking at btc and wondering how to work it out in the near future. Let's hope for the best.

I strongly believe bitcoin has overcome paypal or is even about to even though i don't have the facts yet because a lot of people like myself and friends now find it easier to move money around using bitcoin and with a lot of exchanges springing up i bet the world will start ditching paypal and the likes soon especially when the merchants begin to see the light.

Bitcoin and PayPal both are different in different work. Bitcoin is a currency which can help us to earn money and PayPal use for bringing money from another. In future bitcoin will overcome PayPal if bitcoin makes sure us that bitcoin is most popular than any other payment currency.

Bitcoin with legalization will overcome paypal for sure, it has no limits as well no requirement of personal information, but what damages paypal is their fixed fee no matter the size of the transaction they collect a fixed % into those, wich makes bitcoin to get big volumes cheaper. Bitcoin isnt well know worldwide while paypal is used and recognized by the most people, but like happened with Wester Union wich their services were provide remitances to be sent and received anywhere for a fee, paypal will loose some costumes to crytpo.

is the anonymity the primary idea? Or is it decentralisation? i think the 2nd one.
See the original Satoshi paper https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
He does not speak about necessity of anonymity buy changing the electronic payment system.

I don't even understand why we compare bitcoin over paypal. They're totally different things. They have different objectives, functions and features. Bitcoin is not only a payment method, is a way of investment.

In a medium future I think so. The fact is that right now paypal (using $) is a large extended method that everyone knows and knows how to use it, and a change of it would take several years. Including the fact that you are putting in also a new currency, which is totally different. But I actually think that eventually there is going to be the change.
