I would be great to have a bitcoin or cryptocurrency day but to be honest we don't deserve it yet IMO. We need a great user base as compared to that of fiat and something concrete activity or event such as government's legal status to cryptocurrencies. Such things really matters (see commerce graph on valentine day) so in the long run, it is really beneficial.

This is great and fun, but there is no such commemoration about the currency right? or the day of money first establish and so why would bitcoin get his commemoration day? but I think even if other currencies doesn't have one Bitcoin is special and people needs to put so much attention towards it you may never know Bitcoin would get sympathy of other people that are not into bitcoin.

Yes, I agree. Bitcoin worth it to get out which made Bitcoin's day.
Things like this course will give a lot of good impact on several aspects, among others, the popularity, the development of bitcoin dati iti themselves and many others.
In bitcoin day, the bitcoin users celebrate this special day by meeting together and can be a way to discuss the progress or project of the bitcoin.

This is a good idea I hope some powerful people or officials will suggest this to pass in the congress for appreciation of bitcoins existence in this world or if they don't want to recognize it, maybe popular people who made the foundation of bitcoin strong or contributed big in crypto's can implement this. That's good to have a bitcoin day, but the same has got lot of problems. People around the world, even in countries where bitcoin is banned are still using bitcoin. So when they tend to celebrate it reveals the identity to the government. Better is to share and celebrate it within our community or within our forum and exchange thoughts on the particular day.

Satoshi will decide and set the date and organise the World Bitcoin Day. He will invite all the Bitcoin community leaders and traders and ordinary Bitcoiners to attend the Bitcoin Sumo Festival on that day. He will distribute all of his Bitcoins to his chosen charities.

The "Genesis Block Day" is January 3, 2009. Some Bitcoin fans like me are already conmemorating Bitcoin this day

"Bitcoin Pizza Day" is May 22, 2010. It's also a good candidate as it's seen widely as the first known use of Bitcoin as money, although I have read some people in this forum putting this in doubt. What's true now? Are there earlier "bitcoin-as-money" transactions? (Really want to know that!)

Sound good and such a great idea indeed.Bitcoin is the currency of the Internet as well as already growing a big community but problem is limited only small part of bitcoin users or internet marketers but other parts such of big generation still don't have any idea about this digital currency.Bitcoin can be extremely profitable if you know how are working this currency,it should be understood among the people over the world then can be a chanced a bitcoin day.

We celebrate it only once in 4 years, but that makes it even more special. Kind of like being born on 29-Feb.

Its a good idea. More like"Bitcoin's birthday" or something which we all can use to promote bitcoin to people outside the crypto community. My humble opinion is that it is high time for us to have a day like that to promote bitcoin as well as to celebrate the fact that bitcoin is going strong. Perhaps if bitcoin foundation and all the big players would reach at an agreement and officially announce it, that would be awesome!

Still learning new things every other day about bitcoin... had no idea Genesis block day was "remembered" or even that block halving celebrations are held (aren't miners at least a little sad about halving though?).

So, if someone has already suggested that, then sorry for repeating it. Overall, I don't think that it is a good idea since why we should set a certain date to celebrate Bitcoin on that day? Nevertheless, having said that, I think that anyone could set his own date, say, when he first learned about Bitcoin or earned his first satoshi (or even his first bitcoin). That would follow a genuine Bitcoin spirit, I mean, celerbrating the Bitcoin day in a totally decentralized way, all year long

There is simply not a way to know how many people are using bitcoin, and that makes sense if you think about it since bitcoin offers pseudonymity then a person may hold many wallets and addresses with different identities and no one will know that is just one person holding all those coins.

How about Bitcoin day on 29th of February    That also remind us of halving every four year just like a leap year every 4 year.  Aside from that I do not find any other reason for that day.  But it is symbolic in my opinion since Bitcoin halves every four years.

That came to me  a few days back, but not just a day, it'd be more a combo of a place where various lectures would be held and also, let's say that there would be tickets and when you buy a ticket you get a promo wallet with like 10$ on it, so someone who's new can experience buying things with it, also there should be like stands with food and drinks and like those souvenirs stands. Well that's why it would be a good idea to find sponsors. Aside from the promo wallet, sponsors who decide to place their stands could earn money too. It's far from possible, but it's a lot of hassle for us to organize all of that.

A simple bitcoin day when the genesis block was mined would be ok too, but you'd attract a lot of new people this way.

But it would take some time by some I mean a decade , because their are still many countries which lack in education and are having more than half of their population below poverty line ,these countries would take some time to develop so that they can at least buy a smart phone to keep a bitcoin wallet for transactions.

you are thinking about it the wrong way.
if we start announcing a specific day as "bitcoin day" and each year we start celebrating it at least online, even if it is on social media (online) for example on reddit and we can go to front page for one day, that is already a big enough achievement in my opinion.

A movie regarding bitcoin's great Triumph and this is the most nostalgic thing happen to bitcoin when it keeps on going up and never looking back I think there are movies that indicating words on bitcoin but just a portion of seconds only, I think any one in the movie industry should think about making a film base only in bitcoin, but the origin of bitcoin is never known we only knew that Satoshi make these great thing and no further information regarding about it, but still a movie would lead many people into the world of bitcoin.

I didn't get your point nor the thread's. Generally everybody will wish they want one bitcoin a day. Who doesn't want to be rich right? But we all can't do it. It is like when every body is a millionaire who will be rich? Everybody has the same amount of money and nobody wants each other's money, then money becames useless because o body wants it.

It is a nice idea to have a Bitcoin day, it seems exciting... I want it also so we can celebrate just like an annual event. I think it is a great idea to attract more people to get in touch with BTC, to spread the opportunities and benefits of it.

I think to be able to do this, you need to tend full time on it  and you must be experienced enough to do this such skills. I think, people who are capable to do this are traders. This is quite idealistic for us to do more effort in order to get experience to earn more profit. Yet, as online job isn't unpredictable, you can't say you can earn 1 btc a day for example. Maybe you can earn more than 1 btc for a day or less than 1 btc a day, no one can say however it is tangible.

Yeah, It has to become a little more mainstream. Japan is regulating bitcoin soon and making it legal method of payment in a couple of months. At least 10 countries should do this before I say that bitcoin has become mainstream. Then we can have bitcoin day.

I don't think this is really matter for bitcoin, but we already have bitcoin day on 3th January as the first time when bitcoin launched and  the genesis block was mined, don't you know about it? We've many 'great days' along bitcoin journey but I don't know which one is the best so far, regarding bitcoin price and mass adoption may become the major consideration for bitcoin best day.

Further developments need to be made first before thinking of such a thing. Events like these, in my opinion, would only generate a small buzz and could not really help lift bitcoin's status. Yes, why not. I think it can help in making it more global and broadening its reach. Celebrating the day in such a way that will introduce or invite people or share the benefits if bitcoin with others would definitely give it a boost.

It is not necessary that free bitcoins to be transferred to every wallet as this will be rather impossible task, but to have a bitcoin day where we have seminars about bitcoin awareness and stuff like that, will be a great help to bitcoin and fun for people too.

Well I must agree to that and this is great and interesting, but there is no such fully adoption about the currency today. The date of bitcoin first establish and why would bitcoin could have the date of success? It was all our personal experience that bitcoin brings success to us if we use it in a better options of investments. I would rather prefer if they will give us all here free bitcoins on the bitcoin day that OP were saying. The food or something that we are going to receive in the bitcoin day(if it is really going to happen) is not that worth it, because we could buy on our own. I think having a bitcoin day will be a good way to advertise bitcoin to people especially to people who don't know them. Even if it is being commended and it has its own "day" made by the users, there is no way that it will every really be recognized as something important in the slightest, mostly because there are few days based around a currency and most countries wouldn't recognize it. Just checked and I have 150k satoshis sitting at Freebitcoin, and I only roll there for the free satoshis a couple times a month. If you go there and keep a tab open with the timer beep option on, you can accumulate quite a few in a year while doing other things on your computer.

We have a powerful community like bitcointalk and we have also sub forums for local meetups so if even if someone is willing to do such thing on local level, he can do so by announcing in the local forum section and probably creating a Facebook event.

I don't think that it would be difficult if we decide to organize such day. We have a powerful community like bitcointalk and we have also sub forums for local meetups so if even if someone is willing to do such thing on local level, he can do so by announcing in the local forum section and probably creating a Facebook event.

It shouldn't be if you use Facebook event planner or similar. Add it to forums too and blogs and newsletters. Take pictures and announce plans. There events all I've the world for just about anything. Bitcoin should be easy.

Amazing idea and the day can be in various forms like all the updates and news will be released on a specific day known as bitcoin's day. All the developers of bitcoins would release some magazines ( paid ones of course ) and people can buy them. This just needs a collaboration from a big firm or a company and then we can go bang bang !

Why do we need to have bitcoin day when there is no Dollar or Euro day, is there even a country which celebrates inception of issuing their own fiat?
As far I know there is Bitcoin Pizza day - which is basically light and fun version of Bitcoin Day. We don't need anything more official IMO.

It's nice. Helding a Bitcoin day is good but there's a problem that Bitcoin is banned in some country so that if we celebrate Bitcoin day but they can't attend, there would be very difficult for the government to prevent them from their angry, there Bitcoin users will feel bad about this.
