It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

If Mike Hearn will be the lead bitcoin developer I'll sell all my bitcoins. I don't need another government lead currency in my portfolio.

Why do we need a single leader?  What's wrong with having several teams each in charge of their own competing implementation?  E.g., Core, XT, BTCd, etc.  Decentralized development seems like the equilibrium configuration to me.

Someone gets it.

This is why the whole argument is irrelevant anyway. We were at no where near close enough adoption to start forking for 8mb blocks for christ sake.

I think the divide goes pretty deep. I won't be surprised if many users/investors jump ship.

Blood is definitely in the streets.  Somebody is buying all these dumped coins.  Is it the big players with big pockets?

Absolutely nothing wrong. That's what side chains are for. However, some people are in a hurry to make irreversible changes to bitcoin protocol to prevent competing implementations based on bitcoin.

Other than the spam attack average block size at around 0.4 MB.

Absolutely no where near full blocks let alone blocks 18 times bigger than the current. Most of the space is spam and dust anyway so even if we had full blocks the correct fee would get your transaction through no problem.
