Down we go. I hope this ends soon. Better have stable prices, than the fear of doom. Wonder if I should be looking at an alt coin or just give up. Best thing to do is probably to turn of the pc, forget about BTC, and hopefully be positively surprised in a few years. Cold storage here we go..

Cold storage for 10+ years I think & then hope to see some significant progress then. If not then at least we tried.

And what have you tried to do?

As i see it you dont do anything but expect others to do it for you with this metod...

Price seems stuck in the 220-250 range. I wonder which way it'll go when we start a significant move.

What do you mean what have I done?

I'm just a regular guy, I've invested what I can afford to over the last 18 months or so into a speculative investment (bitcoin).

Whenever I've had spare fiat I've bought. I HODL a semi decent stash in cold storage in the hope that one day bitcoin booms & I make a better life for myself. Maybe it'll work, maybe I'll have pissed my money down the drain but I'm trying.

Why what have you done?

You said: "And what have you tried to do?" and then, without waiting for an answer, leapt straight to: "As i see it you dont do anything but expect others to do it for you with this metod..."

Given that, LFC_Bitcoin's reply seems entirely reasonable. Polite and restrained, even. LFC answered your question, and then asked the same question of you.

Did you read what i quoted?

As i understand he meant that putting his coins in cold storage and wait for others to make them valuable was some sort of contribution. It is not only him but many around here that think this way. If everyone did the same with their coins the whole bitcoin experience would be forgotten in a month...

Eveyone can do whatever they want with their coins buit dont tell anyone that you are trying to help out if you only try to help yourself.

I don't think you're being fair. Yes you are doing something by putting a little money into Bitcoin here and there. You are supporting Bitcoin because you want a better monetary system that isn't based on debt, and isn't confined by borders.  When times are lean then it makes sense to stash something valuable away, until it becomes worth more. When the value appreciates again, Bitcoin holders can use their increased purchasing power to support businesses that embrace crypto, rather than cash out. That's what 'many around here' are waiting to do I'm sure.

Why yes, yes I did. You asked a question, and then leapt straight to a conclusion. You assumed that because LFC_Bitcoin was stopping trading and putting the BTC into cold storage that they were doing nothing else to help the growth of Bitcoin. You've then repeated the same thing in the post I'm replying to. Hope that clarifies things, but, if it doesn't, consider this: I have some BTC at Bitfinex, which I've been using for swaps. The swaps rate now is negligible, so as swaps expire I'm withdrawing. I've been putting the BTC I get back into cold storage. What does this tell you about the rest of the BTC I hold, and what I do with them to support Bitcoin?

Buying a bitcoin and doing absolutely nothing with it for 10 years is about as useless to the bitcoin ecosystem as completely ignoring it.

You dont support bitcoin by wanting a "monetary system that isn't based on debt, and isn't confined by borders" .. thats called dreaming. You can support bitcoin by actively seeking out ways that you can integrate bitcoin in your daily life, and maybe provide services to others using bitcoin.

Also, when times are lean, the LAST thing you should be doing is putting what little money you have into a highly speculative and risky 'investment' like bitcoin.  If you can afford to spare it or loose it, then go ahead.

And you certainly dont want to get involved in the latest shitcoin IPO, thats for certain.  Wink

After seeing your contribution to the devianttwo-thread I am tempted to leave Bitcoin altogether.

Edit: I see it's removed. As I remember it was an unfortunate picture of a child and a poem about how adversity makes you stronger.

Oh, I have been mining since the begining... Lost a wallet the hard way. Continued to mine, lost some time waiting for a BFL rigg.. Trade BTC in the country I live in. Try to encourage ppl to use BTC. Have a wallet I use when I travel for BTC ATM's. Not looking to get rich quick, that would be a bonus. Will continue to support BTC, just thinking that we are a bit early. I have circulated my share of coin since 2012, being an early adaptor. Just tired of the, moon/doom cat fight here in this sub forum.....
