Looks like most of the alts markets are not doing too well either. So much for trying to hedge with Alts.

Litecoin is valuating against BTC. But just hold USD would still be better, I think

bitfinex introduced a futures market to trade tokens between the two ideas to see what demand would be like.

Well, not quite. The butfux BCU tokens have a built in expiration. If the chain does not split by some date, they expire worthless. OTOH, the BCC tokens retain full value.

What? They're cheaper than BCC? Who woulda thunk it?

It's almost as if the details of the BCU token were designed by a Core supporter with a chip on their shoulder. And an incentive to skim free money from their opponents _while_ attacking the object of their ire. Right? Naaah...

On the other other hand, today was rather bracing. A wild ride indeed.

is this BitcoinCore/USD and BitcoinUnlimited/USD on Bitfinex.com?

Can someone please explain the difference, and the backstory?

A years long civil war is about to come to a head. Tl;dr? Really?

Thanks for the witty comeback, I have read about the scaling issues, and August 1st. But haven't been able to get a good overview of the whole thing.
I know it's between hipsters buying coffe with btc, which will increase the tx amount; and BTC being the Swiss bank equivalent in crypto world, high fees, and security.

I've only been in crypto for the past 3 weeks or so, and there's so much stuff to learn.
I think what I wanted to know was, what will happen to the small amount of BTC that I own. Who will make Te decisions regarding future use? And when?

Can someone please explain the difference, and the backstory?

a few months ago it looked like bitcoin unlimited, which is now being mined as emergent consensus in block signalling, looked like it had ever rising hash rate and people thought bitcoin might fork.

bitfinex introduced a futures market to trade tokens between the two ideas to see what demand would be like. it didn't go very well for unlimited and their fork proposal faded away as most players rejected the idea.

now the same people are back with another one.

I've never sayd that before, but Thanks European Central Bank Wink
Who are the same people? And what was their proposal about? What's the difference with the new one?

So what are the newest winds blowing about messing up the good-old Bitcoin blockchain?   Is it gonna be for hipsters & coffee or for safely storing value over time?

Where have you been since 2015?

Back in 2015 I was just a stupid little shit , most of the time working, drinking through the weekend, and then working again. But hey, they do say, better late then never.

Looks like we are seeing a little pull back on the rally across most coins today.  I guess that is to be expected since I'm sure a bunch of people sold off at around the $3,000 mark.

What are your thoughts if we see a flip in the king of market cap from BTC to ETH.   Correct me if I'm wrong, but since there is no hard cap on the number of Ethereum generated, it could not mean all that much?

Eth/btc is the most stable thing right now. Hard to predict what will happen when things changes.

I was expecting ETH rises above BTC for a short time then be heavily dumped, but don't know now.

Ethereum did make some positive mark for years as one of the best cryptocurrency but saying Ethereum will rise about bitcoin is impossible pal because bitcoin as proof to be the #1 through all this time and the reason why bitcoin price went down is because of people making some quick sell and the macranson virus currently in town stolen bitcoin from people.

Even the slip-shoddiest shitcoins on the market performed orders of magnitude better in the last couple years than we did. But congrats just the same.  Smiley

Still also believe in BTC since been mining and trading since 2012, and holding many. Just worked out well to diversify, especially with ETH and XMR and FCT when they were cheap. Even made money on selling the shitcoin Potcoin yesterday when it was up 79% (thank you Dennis Rodman). Timing is everything.

So the maths happened.. parabolic has to complete its cycle before.. moving upward.. it will surely cross 3000 usd level but after completing this parabolic cycle... and it has to come down to anywhere between 1300 to 1500 usd level... which is 61.8% to 78.8% retracement of this parabolic move ... over 8 weeks.

I like your chart, but it's never hitting $1500. Ever.

You know what they say, never say never, Finex longs are around $70MM all time high, shorts are down to BTC15K  more than half from all  time high in April. If longs will start getting squeezed it won't be pretty  Cry

Now we have a bunch of n00bs who just bought bitcoins for the first time thinking "I thought the price only goes up 10x".

I'm hoping most of these morons bought ethereum.  Cool
